OAK HILL — Drema Cynthia Ashley, 59, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at Raleigh General Hospital.
Born May 25, 1946, at Red Star, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ashley and Drema Workman Ashley.
Drema was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Ashley.
Survivors include her son, Robby Robertson Jr. and his wife, Rita, of Oak Hill; a sister, Mary Brown and her husband, John, and their son, Peter, of Fredericksburg, Va.; three brothers, Charles Ashley Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Richmond, Va., Walter Ashley of Beckley and Robert “Bob” Ashley of Chicago, Ill.; and two grandchildren, Brandi Robertson and Braden “Boo” Robertson.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with Pastor Danny Winders officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
The family will receive friends noon until time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Franklin Harvey Boone Sr.
Franklin Harvey Boone Sr., 57, of White Oak, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at the Beckley VA Medical Center following a long illness.
Born April 25, 1948, at Eccles, he was the son of the late Omar William Boone and Lillie Turner Boone.
Mr. Boone was employed as a heating and air conditioning technician and was a former factory worker.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Boone; a stepson, Larry Lilly; and a sister, Mattie Nickels.
Survivors include his companion of 18 years, Rosenell Lilly of White Oak; children, Ginger Boone of Cleveland, Ohio, Patricia Boone of Bluefield and Franklin H. Boone Jr. of Beckley; stepchildren, Yvonne Washburn of Oak Hill, Sarah Harvey of Daniels, William Lilly of White Oak and Elijah Lilly of White Oak; a brother, Grant Boone of Cleveland; two sisters, Dollie Byrd of Eccles and Audrey Boone of Amigo; and 11 grandchildren.
Service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Shady Spring Chapel with the Rev. Larry Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove cemetery.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Campbell, Eddie Meadows, Chuck Washburn, Franklin Boone Jr., Ellis Vest Jr., Zack Washburn and William Lilly.

Thelma Catherine Biars Bennett 91 of Glen Jean, formerly of Piney View died April 22, 2006 at the home of her daughter Sue Bourgord of Glen Jean.
She was the daughter of the late August Biars and Myrtle Bragg Biars. Thelma was a homemaker and avid collector of dolls and glass shoes.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband James Paul Bennett and two brothers Grover and Fred Biars and three children Florence Jones, Bonnie Linville and James Bennett and two grandchildren Terri Jones and Wayne Linville.
Those left to cherish her memory include her 6 children, Sue Bourgord of Glen Jean, Ina Hill of Oak Hill, Delma McGregor of Minn, Margaret Wheeler of Tenn., Becky Farley of Cool Ridge, Lloyd Bennett of Jumping Branch and Cocoa of Glen Jean, one sister Marie Warren of Martinsburg WV, one brother Edward Biars of Hinton WV, and 26 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Virginia Marilyn Meador Ellison 80 of Beckley, WV passed away on April 22, 2006. Born Dec. 1, 1925 at Camp Creek, she was the daughter of the late Armus Willie Meador and Virginia Cleo French. Virginia was of the Christian faith.
Virginia was preceded in death by five brothers, Curtis, Billy, Byron, Kenneth and Paul Meador. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 60 years Donzie Ellison of Beckley, son Kerry Ellison and wife Lana and their children Krystal and Jason of Princeton; daughter Sharon Dolin and husband Allen of Fairdale and their daughters Heidi Cole and husband Bobby of Montpelier, VA and Wendy Makra of Crab Orchard; son David Ellison and wife Peggy of Kannapolis, NC; daughter Jennifer Sauls and husband John and their children Holly and Drew of Maple Fork. PORT SAINT LUCIE, Fla. — Janice Ruth Lyons McGrady, 71, formerly of Beckley, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at her home.
Born in West Virginia, she had been a resident of Port Saint Lucie since 1990, coming from Beckley.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and arts and crafts. Previously she was a Dairy Manager with Broughton Dairy and a cashier with Eppy’s Drug Store in Beckley.
She was a member of Treasure Coast Church of God in Port Saint Lucie.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Earl McGrady Jr. of Port Saint Lucie; two sons, Danny McGrady of Beckley, and Richard Allen Jr. of Panama City Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Vicky Underwood of Beckley, and Penny Taylor of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Allen of Hollywood, Fla. and Loretta Vasko of Miramar, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Money Monroe and Mabel Ruth Lyons.
Graveside rites and burial will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2006, with the Rev. Frankie Lyons officiating.

Georgia L. Meadows
Georgia L. Meadows, age 88, of Shady Spring, went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 23, 2006, at the Summers County ARH at Hinton, following a long illness.
Born at Upland, W.Va. on April 11, 1918, she was a daughter of the late George and Lottie Adkins Pitzer.
Mrs. Meadows was a homemaker, and a member of the Open Door Church at Shady Spring. She had made Layland, WV, her home for 25 years, and had made Shady Spring her home for over 29 years.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Ethel Meadows; brothers, Bruce, Joe, Ernest, Tom, and Fred Pitzer, and a sister, Nettie.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Leonard Meadows; sons, Ralph Meadows and wife, Daisy of Auburndale, Fla., Curtis Meadows and wife, Karen of Shady Spring, and Dale Meadows and wife, Debbie of Shady Spring; daughter, Karen Dixon and husband, Larry of White Sulphur Springs; brother, Bob Pitzer of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two sisters, Rose Bennett of Hinton, and Cora Lee O’Bryan of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren also survive.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Open Door Church at Shady Spring with the Rev. George Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens, Hinton.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring, and at the church one hour before the services.

James French Miller
James French Miller 79 of Beckley, WV went home to be with his Lord and Savior April 22, 2006.
He was the son of the late Charles Roscoe Miller and Locie Ida Cole Miller.
James was preceded in death by one son, James French Miller Jr.; four brothers, Cody, Theodore, Kermit, and Mason; and three sisters, Eula Christian, Violet Figgatt and Jessie Tolbert.
James attended Grace Chapel Church for 32 years and was a coal miner for 28 years and a member of the UMWA District 19. James retired from Slab Fork Coal Co.
Those left to cherish his memory include wife Ethel June Miller of Beckley; two sons James D. Miller and wife Sheila of Prince George, Va., and Lacy Miller and wife Lois of Beckley; three daughters, Linda Goins and husband Barney of Beckley, Brenda Critzer and husband, Shawn of Parkersburg, and Kathy Sanders and husband Joseph of Oceana. Grandchildren include James Miller, Daniel Miller, Katelyn Sanders, Angel DeSouza, Lori Cooper. Great-grandchildren are Michael and Travis Cooper, Alexis Miller; and two sisters, Lola Lane and Evelyn Walker.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday April 27, 2006 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
