OCEANA - Tommy Paynter, 47, passed away Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004 at Logan General Hospital from a heart attack.
Born Nov. 13, 1956 at Man he was the son of the late Kelly Paynter and Betty Kilgore Paynter of Davin.
Mr. Paynter was a 1975 graduate of Man High School, where he played baseball as a pitcher and 1st baseman, loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing, Little League Coach for 13 years, a member of Board of Directors of Oceana Little League and of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Paynter; a sister, Tammy Paynter; his paternal grandparents, Nelson and Ann Paynter; and his maternal grandparents, Kermit and Mary Kilgore.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife of 23 years, Letha Baisden Paynter of Oceana; two sons, Thomas and Timothy Paynter at home, a daughter, Jessica Paynter at home; three brothers, Teddy Paynter of Lovely, KY., Chuck Paynter and his wife, Debbie of Little Rock, AR., and George Paynter and his wife, Odessa, of Fremont, OH.; two sisters, Debbie Roinson and her husband, Mark of Pineville and Donna Paynter of Kernersv ille, NC.; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
A celebration of his life will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004 at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Toler officiating. Burial will follow in Paynter cemetery, Campus.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today (Monday) at the funeral home.

Edna Mae Bunn
SKIN FORK - Edna Mae Bunn, 70, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2004 at her residence following a courage battle with cancer.
Born July 4, 1934, at Simon she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bessie Belcher Toler.
Mrs. Bunn was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Keister Bunn; a daughter, Peggy Sue Bunn; five brothers, Odell Toler, Roger "Peanut" Toler, Brady Toler, Ray Toler, and Tracy Toler; two sisters, Navy Vance and Avis Brown.
Those left to mourn her passing are a daughter, Rosa Carter and her husband, Nathan of Skin Fork; five brothers, Wayman Toler of Coal Mountain, "Buck" Toler of Branchland, Harry Toler of Buffalo Creek, Bill Toler of Logan and Donald Toler of Mt. Gay; three sisters, Sara Walls and her husband of Larry of Verner, Martha Bledsoe of Logan and Freeda Toler of Huntington; three granddaughters, Rebecca Beaver and her husband, Kevin of Lynco, Ginger Carter of Skin Fork and Mary Dunford and her husband Jeremy of Beckley; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
A celebration of her life will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel with Rev. Seldon Gibson officiating. urial will follow in Cook cemetery, Skin Fork.

Marie Jones McCormick
FAYETTEVILLE — Marie Jones McCormick, 88, passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at home, following a long illness.
Born Jan. 6, 1918, at Logan, she was the daughter of the late Clarence E. Jones and Nancy Ann Crockett Jones.
Mrs. McCormick was a housewife. She attended Altamont Grade School at Garten, Minden Elementary School, and Fayetteville High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Warren McCormick on Nov. 21, 1992; her parents, Clarence and Nancy Jones; a sister, Ruth Lavender; and a brother, Robert E. Jones.
Survivors include her brother, Charlie H. Jones and his wife, Barbara of Fayetteville; nieces and nephews, Cindy Renick of Fayetteville, Teresa Whitlock of Marmet, Charles Jones and Robert Jones, both of California; and great-nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Eddie Persinger officiating. Burial will follow.
There will not be a visitation.

Staff Sgt. Carl Henry Miser Jr., 83, of Daniels, died at home after a short illness, Jan. 29, 2006.
Born April 27, 1922, in Bristol, Va., he was the son of the late Carl Henry Miser and Alice Harrison Miser.
Mr. Miser was a former business owner of Carl’s Mobile in Chicago, Ill., and the Gulf Station in Daniels.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He retired from the National Health and Safety Mine Academy in the maintenance department. He attended Perry Memorial United Methodist Church.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Carl Miser; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Virginia Louise Neely Miser; and a grandson, Shawn Carl Miser.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Perry Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Rector officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley, and one hour before the service Thursday at the church.

PETERSTOWN — Mary Elizabeth Pryor, age 67, passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 5, 1939, at Fredrick, Md., she was the daughter of the late Elmer Filmore and Lena Cauliflower Grimes.
Mrs. Pryor was a homemaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Pryor; a sister, Agnus Miller; a brother, William J. Grimes; and a great-granddaughter, Lacey Simons.

Mr. Richmond was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA.
