Ranny Lee “Buddy” Smith, 41, of Rhodell, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at Raleigh General Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born Aug. 14th, 1965, he was the son of Ranny and Carol Smith.
He was preceded in death by his brother Ricky Smith and his dad Ranny Smith.
Survivors include his mother, Carol Smith of Rhodell; three children, Becky, Ranny Lee Jr., and Zachary of Pemberton; two sisters, Sherry Blankenship and husband, Teddy, of Rhodell, and Patricia Fortner and husband David, also of Rhodell; one nephew, Cody; three nieces, Crystal, April and Faith.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 14, 2006, at the Rhodell Church of God with Rev. Gary Eskins officiating. Burial will follow at the Slab Fork cemetery, Tams, WV.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

APPOMATTOX, Va. — Rhonda Lynn Lester Lilly Lewis, 44, formerly of Minden, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at her home.
Born July 31, 1962, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of Peggy Damron Lester of Minden, and the late Verne Lester.
She was a former mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Alan Lewis; a son, Terry “Justin” Lilly of Columbia, S.C.; brothers, David Rose and wife, Patti, of Minden, and Dwayne Rose and wife, Evelyn, of Chicago, Ill.; sister, Neva Martin and husband, Mike, of Minden; a half brother, Verne Lester Jr. of Appomattox, Va.; and two half sisters, Lisa Lester of Cocoa, Fla., and Trista Sloane of Charleston, W.Va.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Pastor Paul Basham officiating. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill.

Ina A. Martin
GENTRY, Ark. — Ina A. Martin, 80, formerly of Lindside, passed away Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at the Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs, Ark.
Born June 11, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Dorsey and Alice Cook Ashworth.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Martin; a daughter, Althea Ross.
Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Siloam Springs, Ark.
While residing in Lindside, Mrs. Martin was active with the Senior Citizens and was a member of the Senior Citizens Choir.
She is survived by a son, David Skidmore of Pasadena, Texas; four daughters, Shirley McCarthy of Beckley, Sandra Dockery of Byee, Tenn., Dreama Martin of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Jenny Young of Gentry, Ark.; a sister, Dottie Maxwell of Garland, Texas; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown. Burial will follow in the St. Johns United Methodist Church cemetery, Union.

Garnett Anne Mitchem
Garnett Anne Mitchem, 67, of Princewick passed away Dec. 11, 2006.
Born Nov. 5, 1939, she is the daughter of the late Martin Luther Mitchem and Edrie Clark Mitchem.
Garnett loved animals, gardening and was an avid bird watcher. She enjoyed talking and spending time with her friends.
In addition to her parents, Garnett is preceded in death by sisters Pauline Koah, June Warner, half sister Virgie Sinsel; brother Don Mitchem; half brother Andrew Crews.
Those left to cherish her memory include sister Alice Rowles of Daniels; Janet Farley of New Mexico; brothers Martin Mitchem of TN, Jim Mitchem, half brother Alfred Crews of FL; and many nieces and nephews and very special friends.

Dorothy ‘Dot’ Parker
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Dorothy “Dot” Campbell Parker, 76, of White Sulphur Springs, born Jan. 10, 1930, the daughter of the late John F. and Anna Catherine Stanley Campbell, died at 9:29 a.m. on Dec. 13, 2006, at her home surrounded by her beloved family.
She left her family empire of love firmly established and sailing securely into the future on the wind of her guidance. She leaves behind her husband of 57 years, George M. (Jack) Parker, Jr.; five sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Barbara of Foster, WV, Glenn and Pam of Princeton, WV, Bennie and Vivian of Pittsburgh, PA, Keith and Rae of Stanardsville, VA, and George M. GP and Debbie of White Sulphur Springs. She also leaves her grandchildren, Dr. Steven Parker and his wife Dr. Arminda Parker, Amanda Parker DeFede and her husband Mike, Christopher Parker, Sarah Parker Akers and her husband Brian, Matthew Parker, Holly Parker Knuckolls and her husband Wayne, Bennie Lee Parker, Jr., and his wife, Margo, Lea Anne Parker Bard and her husband Kevin, Miles Parker, Aiden Parker, Neil Parker, Claire Parker, her stepgrandson, Thomas Thrush; her great-grandchildren, Ashley Akers, Kayleigh Akers, Savanna Akers, Brayden Knucko and Gabriel Bard.
She is also survived by her brother John and his wife, Viola, her sister Jean Frazier and her husband Jerry all of Roanoke, VA, and by her brother Albert of Barboursville, WV.
She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Neil Campbell Parker; her granddaughter, Madison Parker; her parents; and her sister, Mary Frances Kidd and her husband Charley.
Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
She graduated from White Sulphur Springs High School in 1948. She met her husband, Jack, in 1949 while working as a cashier at the Bank of White Sulphur Springs where he made daily deposits for Bowling Hardware and Furniture Company. She was a life-long member of The White Sulphur Springs Emmanuel United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities including the Friendship Guild and the Altar Guild.
She left this world in the warm embrace of Christ her Lord.
Services will be held at The White Sulphur Springs Emmanuel United Methodist Church on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Brent Sturm, OSL, officiating. Friends may call at the church beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest cemetery, White Sulphur Springs.
Donations of sympathy may be made to the building fund for the Neil Campbell Parker Church Community Center, Emmanuel United Methodist Church, White Sulphur Springs.

RAINELLE — Lindsey Nicole Raines, 19, passed away on Dec. 12, 2006, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, after a sudden illness.
Born April 6, 1987, in Low Moor, Va., she was the loving daughter of Paul and Vicky Raines, also of Rainelle.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, F.E. “Gene” Nelson, and her paternal grandmother, Norma K. Raines, both of Rainelle.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her maternal grandmother, Ruby Nelson; uncles, F.E. “Sonny” Nelson of Covington, Va., Gary Nelson and wife, Carolyn, of McAllister, Okla.; an aunt, Susan Gwinn and her husband, Gary, of Rainelle; cousins, Cher Johnson of Troutville, Va., and Cody Nelson of McAllister, Okla. Lindsey was recently engaged to Jamey P. Walker of Lookout, and had begun making preparations for their happy life together. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Employed since 2004 at New River Gorge Harley-Davidson, she was also a student in the nursing program at Mountain State University.
Lindsey had many interests and hobbies, including a great love of animals, the outdoors, and riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle with her fiance, who will be completely lost without her.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle, with the Rev. Bennie Kenney officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial cemetery, Clintonville, with the release of White Flights doves.

Ronda Marie Sutton
Ronda Marie Sutton, 39, of Nitro, formerly of Cross Lanes, was killed by a train accident Sunday, Dec. 10, in Nitro.
She was born April 16, 1967, and attended Cross Lanes Schools. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Allen Washington.
Ronda is survived by daughter, Desara Dawn Pauly, son, Aaron Keith Pauley, both of South Charleston; father and stepmother, Ronnie and Phyllis Sutton of Cross Lanes; sister, Surenea Dawn Sutton of Columbus, Ohio; brother, Tommy Sutton and his wife Christina of Cross Lanes; stepsister, Dawna Osborne of Jacksonville, Fla.; stepbrother, Donald Jones of Charleston; aunt, Susie Jones of Crab Orchard; uncle, Lloyd Thomas Shrewsbury of Pax; and her beloved pet, Sugar Baby; two grandchildren and two nephews.
At Ronda’s request she has been cremated.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Elk Funeral Home, 2001 Pennsylvania Ave., Charleston, with Rev. Earl Cochran officiating.
Family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

George Toombs, Sr.
COVINGTON, Va. — George Edward Toombs, Sr., age 87, a native of Oak Hill, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006.
Mr. Toombs was born July 15, 1919, in Oak Hill, WV, the son of the late Robert Allen Toombs and Rebecca Seay Toombs.
In addition to his wife of fifty-nine years, Betty Jean Welcher Toombs, Mr. Toombs is survived by a son, George Edward “Eddie” Toombs, Jr., of Covington; one daughter, Sharon Gay Jones of Phoenix, AZ; and honorary daughter, Jeanie Eckhardt of Casper, WY.
Mr. Toombs was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael C. Fleenor officiating, assisted by Bill Gilliland.
The family will receive friends Friday evening 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church.
