Roger Lee Basham, 55, of Coal City, passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005.
Roger was born April 4, 1950, at Slab Fork, the son of the late Thurmond Basham and the late Hallie Lawson Basham.
Roger previously attended Stepping Stone Church at Surveyor.
Other than his parents, Roger was preceded in death by an infant sister, Lorretta Basham, and a brother, Carl Basham.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sharon Rhodes Basham; two sons, Robbie Basham and wife, Laura, of Beckley and Scott Basham and wife, Jane, of Crab Orchard; three daughters, Rebecca Reed and husband, Kenny, of Herndon, Alesia Basham of Maxwell Hill and Samantha Basham of Maxwell Hill; three brothers, Denny Ba-sham and wife, Deidra, of Glen Daniel, Billy Basham and wife, Rita, of Lester and Jimmy Joe Basham and wife, Anna, of Lester; five sisters, Juanita, Debbie, Linda, Ida Mae and Anna Rae; and five grandchildren, Little Robbie, Devan, J.P., Little Scottie and Katie. He will also be sadly missed by Eddie Combs, whom he considered a son; and his special friends, Joe, Ray and Elmer.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Marvin Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in Acord Mountain cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family noon until time of service Monday at the funeral home.

Michael Wayne ‘Paco’ Dixon-Bragg
OAK HILL — Michael Wayne “Paco” Dixon-Bragg, 21, of Oak Hill, passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, at home following a sudden illness.
Born Dec. 23, 1983, in Beckley, he was the son of Larry Bragg and Catherine Ritondo Dixon, both of Oak Hill.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edith and Anthony Ritondo and Clarence and Beulah Bragg.
Other than his parents, survivors include his brother, Harold Dixon of Kincaid; a sister, Teresa Dixon Stine of Inwood; a half sister, Kirsten Bragg of Springfield, Ill.; a nephew, Jason Dixon; a niece, Patti Dixon, who lived with Michael; and three other nephews and three other nieces.
Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with Pastors Virgil and Jackie Harrington officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

LEWISBURG — Herman Woodson Honaker, 54, of Lewisburg, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2005.

Elizabeth Jane Johnston
RUPERT — Elizabeth Jane Johnston, 94, of Rupert, passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, in Greenbrier Valley Medical Center following a long illness.
She was born April 1, 1911, at Marfrance, Mrs. Johnston was the daughter of the late Floyd and Mildred Friend Parsons.
She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Johnston; and two sons, Louis and Butch Johnston.
Survivors include her five sons, Waldo Johnston of Kentucky, Ward Johnston of Florida, Lloyd Johnston of Mississippi, Bobby Johnston of Virginia and Corbett Johnston of Rupert; five daughters, Janelle Underwood of Maryland, Mary Helen Loudermilk and Patricia Ann Ivy, both of Kentucky, Carolyn Moter of Quinwood and Ea Jane Sneed of Alaska; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be 1 p.m. Monday at Sister Cordell Delines’ Church, Hines.

Shirley Jean ‘Polly’ Keller
OAK HILL — Shirley Jean “Polly” Keller, 69, of Oak Hill, passed away at home Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, following an extended illness.
Born July 3, 1936 at Page, she was the daughter of the late James Baughan and Hazel Ross Heald.
Mrs. Keller was a member of Salem Road Freewill Baptist Church. She previously worked at Dempsey School, sat with elderly folks and worked at area pizza restaurants, working last at Valmore’s Pizza. She enjoyed singing karaoke and playing bingo. She was a member of the Oak Hill Moose Club.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee “Bob” Keller, on Feb. 3, 1999; a son, David Eugene Keller; two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Leon Keller of Alabama and Gary Keller and companion, Linda Lane, of Beckley; three daughters, Kathy McClung and husband, Eugene, of Oak Hill, Judy Keller of Oak Hill and Ruth McComas and husband, Bobby, of Oak Hill; four stepsons, Bobby Keller, Eddie Keller, Jackie Keller and Larry Keller; a stepdaughter, Marie Johnson; grandchildren, Alicia Lester, Jason Querry, Kelly and Karen Keller, Dakato and Katherine Jean Keller, Phillip King, Heather Collins and Aaron McComas; a great-grandchild, Breanna Lester; four brothers and four sisters.
Service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with Rev. Kenneth Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Spearin cemetery, Dempsey.

CYCLONE — Arvil Kester “Boots” Lusk, 90, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, in a Charleston hospital.
Born Aug. 18, 1915, at Cyclone, he was the son of the late Hayes Lusk and Orpha Brown Lusk.
Mr. Lusk was a faithful member of Bright Prospect Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener and hunter.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Ettie; a daughter, Shirley; three brothers, Shelly, Andy and Joe Lusk; and two sisters, Dorothy Brown and Elsie Bailey, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Lanta Lusk and his wife, Donna, of Cyclone and Wendell Lusk of Beckley; two daughters, Jackie Helmandollar and her husband, Russell, of Cyclone and Ella Jean Shields and her husband, Carlton, of Cyclone; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bright Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Lusk, the Rev. Roger Stewart and Deacon Tony Haught officiating. Burial will follow in Brown cemetery, Cyclone.
The family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. today at Evans Funeral Home, Ocea-na.

RONCEVERTE — Edith Mae Persinger, 94, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, in Brier Nursing Home, Ronceverte, after a long illness.
Born Feb. 8, 1911, at Ronceverte, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Kate O’Brien Persinger.
Miss Persinger was a lifelong resident of Ronceverte, member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Ronceverte, Circle No. 3 member, and was retired from Greenbrier Laundry and Greenbrier Valley Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lorene “Happy” Persinger and Mary Morgan; and two brothers, Paul Persinger and David Persinger.
Survivors include a niece, Crystal Nicely of Clifton Forge, Va., and three nephews, Marvin L. Morgan of Organ Cave, Paul Lindsey Persinger of Allentown, Pa., and John C. Persinger of Maryland.
Service will be 2 p.m. today at Trinity United Methodist Church, Ronceverte, with Pastor Mike Estep officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview cemetery, Ronceverte.

Katherine B. Peters
Katherine B. Peters, 86, of Cool Ridge, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.
Born at Cool Ridge on June 20, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Burl O. and Dona B. Lilly Epperly.
She was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church and a lifetime resident of Raleigh County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow W. Peters; her son, Dr. John B. Peters; four brothers, Acel, Ralph, Wayland and Claude Epperly; and six sisters, Lena Epperly, Lilly Pauline Epperly, Nellie Epperly Clark, Lakie Epperly Carr Shrewsbury, Audry Epperly Sullens and Joy Epperly Allen.
Our beloved “granny” will be sadly missed and memories of her will be cherished.

RUPERT — Jackie W. Richmond, 68, passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, at his home following a short illness.
Born Dec. 22, 1936, at Les-lie, he was the son of Jasper D. and Edna Rucker Richmond.
Mr. Richmond was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA.
