OCEANA — Hubert Belcher, 76, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at his residence following a long illness.
Born April 7, 1929, at Accoville, he was the son of the late Charlie and Artha Belcher.
Mr. Belcher attended the Church of God in the name of Christ Jesus in Brenton. He enjoyed raising a garden and seeing how big he could make his tomatoes grow and loved walking and being outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a special companion, Ruby Lively; and a brother, Hobert Belcher.
Survivors include two stepsons, Roger Lively and his wife, Brenda, of Surveyor and Lee Lively and his wife, Mary, of New Richmond; two stepdaughters, Suzanna Thompson and her husband, Mike, of Ramey Addition and Velma Rife of New Richmond; a brother, Billy Belcher of North Carolina; three sisters, Ocie Belcher and Ines Harvey, both of Cedar Creek, and Gracie Carter of Laurel Branch; and special friends, Elizabeth Lively of Rainelle and John Rife of Avondale.
Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Evans Memorial Chapel, Oceana, with the Rev. Irvin Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
Friends may call 1 p.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
Eugene Walker, Bill Lafferty, Danny Blackburn, Roy Keith, John Rife, Roger Lively, Lee Lively Sr. and Michael Thompson will serve as pallbearers.

Mary ‘Billie’ Vest Gill
Mary “Billie” Vest Gill, 82, of Beckley, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at the home of her son in Glen Morgan following a long illness.
Born Sept. 14, 1923, at Glen Morgan, she was the daughter of the late Carl Alfred and Mary Poff Vest.
Mrs. Gill worked for many years, retiring from May Office Supply Co. She loved helping others and traveling.
Billie was nicknamed “Grandbo” by her grandchildren because she was a very strong person. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James How-ard Gill, in August 2003; sisters, Virginia Alice Vest, Glenora “Todie” Amos, Genny Vest and Thelma Young; and brothers, Homer and Dorsil “Farmer” Vest.
Survivors include her son, Sam Vest and his wife, Pat, of Glen Morgan; stepdaughter, Virginia Lightle and her husband, Al, of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; two stepsons, Darryl Rucker and his wife, Debbie, of Delaware and Howard Rucker of Meadow Bridge; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Cleve Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Born Dec. 29, 1913, at Mount Tabor, she was the daughter of the late Hughie Jackson and Hallie Mae Smith Clay.
Mrs. Green was a retired sales clerk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Green.
Survivors include her sister, Jean Westfall of Huntington; two nephews and three nieces.
Graveside rites and burial will be 1 p.m. Monday at Calfee cemetery, Mount Tabor, with the Rev. Mike King officiating.

LESLIE — Leo Williams, 70, of Leslie, passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at his home following a long illness.
He was the son of the late Worth and Mary Floyd Williams. He was born Nov. 5, 1935, at Dillon, S.C.
He received his education in Fairmont, N.C. He served in the United States Army. There he met his loving wife, Phyllis Jean (Mitchell) Williams. He retired from a position at the NYC Housing Authority after 25 years. He was a member of Masonic Simri Lodge No. 19 of the King Hiram Grand Lodge A.F.&A.M. of New Jersey. Leo rededicated his life to Jesus Christ through the inspiration of Pastor Allen Fletcher of Rainelle’s Highland First Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Leon Williams; and a sister, Dorothy Williams.
Leo leaves behind to mourn him his loving wife of 45 years, Phyllis Williams; his sisters, Nedra Williams of Fairmont, N.C., and Thelma Ruth Nelson of Lewisburg; his children, Cathy Walker of Williamstown, N.J., Leo Williams Jr. and Vivian Eichelberger of Leslie, Melvin Brown of Brooklyn, N.Y., Worth Charay Williams of New York, N.Y., Marvin Williams of Junction City, Kan., Melvin Leo Williams of St. Louis, Mo., Kashavera Williams of Leslie, LaQwanza and Tiffany Williams of Charleston and Desmond and Diamond Williams of Leslie; a foster child, Adrian Mitchell of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Blair of Charleston, Janay Walker of Williamstown, N.J., Zayvier Eichelberger of Leslie, Tyrek and Tyrell Blair of Leslie, and Michael Walker of Williamstown, Kierra Thompson of Junction City and LaQwanza Williams of St. Louis; and a host of nieces and nephews. He also raised Michael, Gorgio and Jabez Fleming of Leslie, Chris Fleming of Athens and Janeek Wiggan of Leslie. He also leaves behind several godchildren, Tamsha, Zarahiah and Gabriel of the state of New York and Darien Hamilton of Leslie.
Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle, with Pastor Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Trail’s End cemetery, Clintonville.
