With her work done on this earth, Hattie Suzanne Lester Robinson, 59, of Cherrywood Villa, Beaver, has taken her rightful place in Heaven. A loving wife, stepmother, sister and friend, Suzanne touched many lives deeply during her time among us.
Born Feb. 20, 1946, at Welch, Suzanne was the daughter of the late Richard A. and Mable Young Lester.
Graduating from Welch High School in 1964, Suzanne moved to Beckley. She worked for several years at Beckley National Bank. Suzanne then began a career in administration at Raleigh General Hospital where she remained for 33 years, retiring in 2004.
Suzanne was always quick with a bright smile and a kind word for everyone. She was a genuine, caring, compassionate and classy individual. She loved to cook, can vegetables and play in her flowers. Suzanne had a deep love for her four cats, Smokey, Sophie, Coaltrain and Noballs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Julia Thomas and Patricia Lester; and a brother, William David Lester.
Survivors include her husband, Okey Dave Robinson; three stepsons, Michael Paul, David Lee Robinson and Jonothan Grose; her brothers, Winfred Lester and Wiley Lester and his wife, Nadine, all of Welch; sisters, Janet Eloise Webb and her husband, Donald, of Crossville, Tenn., Linda Dryden and her husband, Richard, of Haymarket, Va., and Dee Routon and her husband, Don, of Casper, Wyo.; 18 nieces and nephews; and very dear friends, Jane Travis and Mel Setliff.
Service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Malcomb Brownlee officiating.

Dewey Lee Wallace Sr.
PRINCETON — Dewey Lee Wallace Sr., of 747 Woodland Lane, was born Nov. 16, 1933, at Dott, and departed this life Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
He was a retired coal miner at Eastern Associated Herndon mines and was a member of UMWA Local No. 9781. He was a member of Grace Primitive Baptist Church in Shady Spring. He was a devoted husband, daddy, papaw and friend.
Dewey was the son of the late Eula and Oscar Wallace.
In addition to his parents, a brother, Earl Dalton, preceded him in death.
He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Cornelia “Gail” Wallace; a son, Dewey Wallace Jr. of Yadkinville, N.C.; daughters, Barbara Hurst and husband, Rodney, of Princeton and Connie Collins and husband, Doug, of Yadkinville; three grandsons, Jason Hurst of Huntersville, N.C., and Joshua Wallace and Jared Collins of Yadkinville; three granddaughters, Kelli Hurst-Pile and husband, Taylor, of Lexington, Ky., and Abigail George and husband, Michael, and Heather Collins, all of Yadkinville; two great-grandsons, Austin George and Corbin Hurst; two great-granddaughters, Leah George and Hayley Hallman; a brother, Robie Wallace and wife, Jenny, of Shady Spring; sisters, Betty Ford of Lashmeet and Freda Meadows and husband, Landon, of Cool Ridge; and special neighbors, Jack and Virginia Garten and Marty White.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home, Princeton, with Elder Keith Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.

OAK HILL — Minyonne Paulette Gray Wikel, 56, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division.
Born July 8, 1949, in Haleyville, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Jessey and Jeanette V. Gray.
Mrs. Wikel was a nurse for Hidden Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Oak Hill. She attended Oak Hill Alliance Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Wikel.
Survivors include a son, Mark Douglas Gray and wife, Virginia, of Oak Hill; a daughter, April Jeanette Patterson and husband, Bryan, of Tyler County; a brother, Dewayne Gray of Tennessee; grandson, Christopher R. Gray of Meadow Bridge; stepgranddaughter, Jessica L. Burns of Oak Hill; and several nieces, nephews and cousins from Tennessee and Alabama.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Pastor Vernon R. Chittum officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Wilmer Thomas Bailey Jr.
Wilmer Thomas Bailey Jr., 56, of 500 Old Piney Trail, Beaver, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at his home.
Born Sept. 5, 1940, at Rhodell, he was the son of the late Wilmer T. Bailey Sr. and stepmother, Alma Ater.
Mr. Bailey was retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He had two tours of duty in the Vietnam Conflict. He had worked as a housekeeping supervisor for Raleigh General Hospital and Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James Bailey.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Thompson Bailey; a daughter, Sue Rakes and husband, Rick, of Logan County; and a half brother, David Bailey and wife, Cindy, of Texas.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Troy Bolen officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley.

Robert Harmon Biggs
Robert Harmon Biggs, 80, of Beckley, passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at the Beckley VA Medical Center following a long illness.
Born Aug. 20, 1925, he was the son of the late Henry and Maggie Samples Biggs.
Mr. Biggs served his country in World War II as a gunner instructor for the B-29 in the Army Air Corps. Following his military service he began working for the U.S. Postal Service where he retired as a superintendent of mails with 41 years of service. He was also a member of St. Mary’s United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Biggs was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry, James, John Ernest and Russell Biggs.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Barbara Cole Biggs; a daughter, Cynthia Sweeney and her husband, Dwayne, and their son, Shawn, of Greenville, S.C.; a son, Robert L. Biggs of New Haven, Conn.; a sister, Cornea Meador and her husband, Frank, of Pontiac, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. today at St. Mary’s United Methodist Church, Beckley, with the Rev. Stephen Rector officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, with military honors provided by the Oak Hill VFW.
Friends called 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and may call one hour before service today at the church.

BAISDEN — Douglas Delano Cline, 58, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert. There will be no visitation due to cremation as to Mr. Cline’s wishes.
Born March 29, 1942, at Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Lester and Ada Marie England Blevins.
Abe loved to fish and play blues on his guitar.
He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sue Miller and Helen Blevins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sandra Blevins; six sons, Timothy Blevins, John McCoy, Allen McCoy, Jesse McCoy, Jason McCoy and Brandon Reed; a daughter, Rhonda McCoy; brothers, James Blevins, Jerry England, Terry England, Larry Blevins, James England, Archie Blevins and Lester Blevins Jr.; and sisters, Venus Gibson, Brenda Justice, Shelby Blevins, Julie Petrey, Kathy McGraw, Nancy England, Teresa England and Carolyn Blevins.

NEW RICHMOND — Geraldine Ann Chambers, 73, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, in Wyoming Continuous Care, New Richmond, following a long illness.
Born Aug. 21, 1932, in Roanoke, Va., she was the daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy Bradley.
Mrs. Chambers was a homemaker and lived in Wyoming County for 40 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Chambers; a grandson, Charles Jay Halcomb; and a twin brother, Jerri Simmons.
Survivors include two sons, Harry David Chambers of New Richmond and Michael Clarence Chambers of New Richmond; two daughters, Shirley Ann Chambers of New Richmond and Pamela Gail Chambers of New Richmond; two sisters, Brenda Morris of Rich Creek, Va., and Sue Dudding of Narrows, Va.; a grandson, Charles Edward Chambers; and a granddaughter, Angela Dawn Chambers.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating. Burial will follow in Peterstown cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
