VICTOR — Ellis Hugh Alley, 69, of Victor, passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, following an extended illness.
Born March 15, 1937, at Ansted, he was the son of the late Lester Alley and Russie Dempsey Alley.
Mr. Alley was a member of Sunday Road Baptist Church, Hico, and he retired from Fayette County Park and Recreation.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Maxine Johnson Alley, on Aug. 4, 2002; his parents, Lester and Russie Alley; and sister, Norma Alley.
Left to cherish his memories are his two daughters, Mary Crosier and her husband, Ron, of Ansted and Reba Acree; children, Marcella Bradford of Summersville, Patsy Connard of Cedar Grove, Barbara Legg of Summersville, Linda Foster of Summersville, Hughart Legg of Alta and Rex Legg of Ruckersville, Va.; two granddaughters, Veronica Crosier and Brittni Crosier of Ansted; step-grandchildren, 18 living and three deceased; and three brothers, Lewis Alley and Robert Alley of Ohio and Mike Alley of Florida.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. David Minturn officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Ansted.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home.

Sheralyn D. Bowles
OAK HILL — Sheralyn D. Bowles, 44, of Oak Hill, passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at Plateau Medical Center following a long illness.
Born Sept. 7, 1962, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Annie Eagle Bowles.
She was a homemaker and a graduate of Meadow Bridge High School.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Bowles and Gaylen Bowels; two infant brothers, William David Bowles and James Emmett Bowles; and a half brother, Ray Eagle.
Survivors include her brothers, Dennis Bowles of Danese, Gary Bowles of Beckley and Greg Bowles and wife, Retha, of Alexandria, Va.; sisters, Janet Bowles of Oak Hill, Glenna Bowles of Oak Hill and Judy Bowles of Oak Hill; nieces, Wretha and Amanda; and nephew, Aaron.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop Health Care Center and her doctor, Dr. Hultman.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Jesse Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Stanaford cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Callyn B. Maynor
Callyn B. Maynor, 20, of Beckley. God called him home on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006.
Born in Beckley on Dec. 30, 1986, he was the son of Joyce Flower Maynor of Beckley and the late Roger Maynor.
Callyn was a 2005 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and was currently a student at West Virginia University.
Callyn enjoyed spending time with all his friends and driving his Mustang.
Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Elmer Flower.
Other than his mother, survivors include his sister, Brittany Maynor of Beckley; maternal grandparent, Lee Ann Flower of Beckley; paternal grandparents, R. Dean Maynor and Peggy Maynor of Shady Spring; aunts and uncles, Gary and Cindy Flower of Liberty, S.C., Michele and William Cook of Cool Ridge, and Tari Maynor of Cary, N.C.; cousins, Julia and Mark Holliday and daughters, Marley, Caroline, and Juliana, of Sophia, Brandon and Lisa Flower and children, Sophia and Nate of Fairmont, Greg and Shannon Blevins and daughter, Madison, of Beckley, Matthew and Kelly Flower of Gainesville, Fla., Belinda Cook of Cool Ridge, Lynn Farley of Maple Fork Road and Pebbles Farley of Maple Fork Road; and many other relatives and special friends.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with a eulogy by family members. Burial will follow at Tom Lilly cemetery, Ghent.

John Musgrave Richardson
John Musgrave Richardson, 63, of Beckley, formerly of Lewisburg, died at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, in the Doug and Lucy Bowers Hospice House following an extended illness.
Born at Marlinton on Dec. 24, 1943, he was the son of the late Jack and Vivian Musgrave Richardson.
He was a member of Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg. He was a retired attorney, serving as child advocate for the State of West Virginia. He held membership in the West Virginia Bar Association. A graduate of Greenbrier Military School, he also graduated from West Virginia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s degree, a graduate of West Virginia University School of Law, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as first lieutenant from 1968 until 1971 in the Korean DMZ.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Caroline Vivian Richardson.
Survivors include a son, John Musgrave Richardson Jr. and wife, Melisa, of Harrisburg, Pa.; two brothers, Dr. Thomas Edward Richardson and wife, Elizabeth, of Bluefield and Charles Jackson Richardson and wife, Debora, of Vienna, Va.; two sisters, Jacqueline R. Bennett and husband, R.B., and Marianne R. Brewster and Jerry Lawfar, all of Lewisburg; granddaughter, Caroline Dalton Richardson; five nieces; and three nephews.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Rosewood cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Dexter Taylor officiating.

Mary Alice Sturgill, 41, of Wisconsin, passed away Dec. 24, 2006, at Beloit, Wis., in a nursing facility.
Born Dec. 8, 1965, in Beckley, she was the daughter of Norma Jean Smith Sturgill Schutzy and stepfather Melvin, and the late Robert Howard Sturgill.
Survivors include a sister, Angela Sturgill; brother, Robert Sturgill; three half sisters; half brother, Jeff, whom she adored — they spent their life together in a nursing facility; uncles, Fred Sturgill and wife and family of West Virginia and Richard Sturgill and wife, Jean, and family of West Virginia; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins on the Smith side, all from West Virginia.

Florence V. Turner
HINTON — Florence Virginia Turner, 90, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, in Raleigh General Hospital following a long illness.
Born Jan. 21, 1916, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Pearle and Bert Thomas Tyler.
Ms. Turner was a homemaker and member of Riverview Chapel in Hinton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Harold Turner ,in 1989; and a daughter, Marilyn Rodgers.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Dean Turner; five daughters, Virginia L. Jumpe of Greensboro, N.C., Joyce Mahan of Burlington, N.C., Marsha Lilly of Virginia, Barbara Fox of Pipestem and Janet Adkins of Hinton; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan, 5, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, Hinton, with Harry Pilkington officiating. Burial will follow in Turner Family cemetery on Zion Mountain near Hinton.
Friends may call noon until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
