Garnett Lois O’Dell
RICHWOOD — Garnett Lois O’Dell, 92, of Richwood, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at Nicholas County Health Care Center, Richwood, after a short illness.
She was born March 5, 1914, at Renick. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Lizzie Fudge Michell Baker.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Richwood. She was a former past worthy matron of the Yew Pine Chapter No. 65, Order of Eastern Star, High Priestess of White Shine, Rebekah Lodge, AARP and Richwood Hospital Auxiliary.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cobert O’Dell.
Survivors include a stepdaughter-in-law, Mary Jo O’Dell of Okeechobee, Fla.; stepdaughter, Merthyr Stauffer of Ravenna, Ohio; six stepgrandchildren, two stepgreat-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood, with the Rev. Timothy Skaggs officiating. Interment will be in Richwood cemetery.

Luther Martin Painter
PEARISBURG, Va. — Luther Martin Painter, 98, of Pearisburg, formerly of Monroe County, passed away at his home in Pearisburg on Friday evening, Dec. 1, 2006.
Mr. Painter was born Oct. 1, 1908, in Maynor, and was a son of the late John Ed Painter and Marinda Biggs Painter.
Besides his parents, Mr. Painter was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Ann Painter; four sisters, Ethel Skaggs Heddy, Atha Grace Mitchem, Dorothy Gray and Gladys Thompson; and four brothers, George, Thomas, Quincy “Pete” and Paul Painter.
Mr. Painter was a former coal miner, pipe-fitter and farmer, raising purebred Black Angus cattle on his farm in Monroe County.
He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Vada Mae Worrell Painter; six sons and daughters-in-law, Audrey Neal and Betty Painter of Indiana, Alfred Darrell and Patty of West Virginia, Ralph Martin and Sue Painter of Virginia, John Shirley and Estrella Painter of Texas, Dr. Conley Houston and Carolyn Painter of Virginia and Luther Ray and Romona Painter of Virginia; five daughters and sons-in-law, Gail P. and Bill Rutledge of West Virginia, Geraldine P. and Hobart Butler Jr. of Virginia, Ann Louise P. and George Yopp of Virginia, JoAnn P. and Raymond Booth Jr. of West Virginia and Dianna Lynn P. and Barry Booth of West Virginia; 33 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Service will be noon Monday, Dec. 4, at Givens Funeral Chapel, Pearisburg, with the Rev. Dewey Broyles officiating, with burial following at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Grandchildren will be the pallbearers.

SCARBRO — Lucy Mae Adkins Stewart, 84, of Scarbro, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at Sunbridge Pine Lodge Care & Rehab in Beckley.
Born Dec. 1, 1921, at Garden Ground, she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Estie Martin Adkins.
She was a homemaker. Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Page, since 1953.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Stewart; a daughter, Elsie Green; a brother, James A. Adkins; and her beloved granddaughter, Cathy Green.
Survivors include two sons, Ray Stewart and wife, Priscilla, of Piney View and Lee Stewart of Oak Hill; two daughters, Kathleen Aliff and husband, Mark, of Mossy and Dolly Simpson and husband, Robert, of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Laura Tolliver of Ravencliff and Lillian McNamara of Kincaid; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Pastor Paul Basham officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Henry Posey Webb Jr.
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Henry Posey Webb Jr., 82, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, following an extended illness.
Born April 12, 1924, at Glace, he was the son of the late Henry Posey Sr. and Carrie Roach McGrady Webb.
Mr. Webb was the retired owner of the former Webb’s Texaco in White Sulphur Springs, a member of Glace Presbyterian Church and a former member of the White Sulphur Springs Lions Club. He was also a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
Henry is survived by his loving wife, Mae Campbell Webb; a son, Larry Sims of Glen Burnie, Md.; a daughter, Shirley Schneider and her husband, Jim, of Hurricane; three grandchildren, Jason Sims, James T. Schneider and Carrie Angela Schneider; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at the Chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, with the Rev. Lewis Brooks and the Rev. Donnie Dowdy officiating. Burial will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor, Va.

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — Samuel “Sammy” Wayne St. Clair Jr., 50, of Stafford County, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at his home.
Sam was an area carpenter for more than 30 years. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Kim Vargo St. Clair; a daughter, Patricia St. Clair; three sons, Chris, Craig and Kyle; his mother, Erma St Clair; five sisters, Janie, Patty Sue, Carol, Kathy and Sharon; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Wayne St. Clair Sr.

Ralph Emerson Stone Jr., 60, of Lester, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at his residence following a long illness.
Born Oct. 21, 1946, in McDowell County, he was the son of the late Ralph E. Stone Sr. and Nora Cline.
Mr. Stone attended Brenton Baptist Church. He loved being with his family and friends, and fishing with cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Greenway and Mazie Cline; and his aunt and uncle, Lassie and Paul Cline.
Survivors inlcude three daughters, Paula Jean Lester and her husband, Dean, of Statesville, N.C., Denise Dunford and her husband, John, of Ridgeway, Va., and Shannon Butler and her husband, Robbie, of Iaeger; a brother, Paul Yates of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Carla Yates of California; four grandchildren, Deon Lester, Austin Dunford, Briana Compton and Blake Butler; and he will be greatly missed by his special aunts, uncles and cousins.
