Clyde Andrew Hayworth

HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Clyde Andrew Hayworth, of Hope Mills, N.C., formerly of the Raleigh County area, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, in a Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was 69 years of age.

Mr. Hayworth had served in the Armed Forces. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Hayworth; a daughter, Revondia Jarrell; two sons, David and Timothy Hayworth; three brothers, Willie, Jack and Freddie Hayworth; five sisters, Virginia Hunter, Mary Bell, Shelby Hayworth, Peggy Canada and Opal Tingler; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. today at the Melton Mortuary Chapel, with the Revs. Wayne Chandler and Carroll Hayworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

Friends called 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

Arrangements by Melton Mortuary, Beckley.

Andrew Irick Sr.

Andrew Jackson Irick Sr., 82, beloved husband, Dad and Paw Paw, of Glen Fork, went home to meet the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005.

Born Oct. 2, 1923, at Glen Fork, he was the son of the late John and Delia Cross Irick of Glen Fork.

Mr. Irick was a lifelong resident of Glen Fork after returning from a tour of duty with the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Russell Missionary Baptist Church and was a retired coal miner. He was happiest when he was outside and busy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy Ray Irick; a grandson, Ronnie Lafferty Jr.; two granddaughters, Rosalee Irick and Angela Lafferty; a son-in-law, Robert McGraw; three brothers, Rufus, William and Ralph; and five sisters, Laurie, Rhodie, Julie, Martha and Stella.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Vella Marie Redden Irick; eight children, Ronald Irick and his wife, Alma, Roger Irick and his wife, Cathy, Jackson Irick and his wife, Gaye, Randall Irick and his wife, Tammy, and Norma McGraw, all of Glen Fork, Barbara Byars and her husband, Dale, of Ravencliff, Lucy Lilly and her husband, Ted, of Prosperity, and Brenda Irick and friend, Carie, of Clear Creek; a sister, Lydia Leslie of Pritchard; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of family, friends and neighbors of many years.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Evans Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lucian Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Fork Community cemetery, Glen Fork.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

John Robert ‘BeBe’ Milam

GOSHEN, Ind. — John Robert “BeBe” Milam, 32, of 1314 S. 13th St., formerly of Whitesville, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at 7:04 p.m., at Goshen General Hospital, following a sudden illness.

Born Oct. 14, 1973, at Beckley, he was the son of Robert Garland and Lotus Ann (Milam) Montgomery.

Mr. Milam worked in the service industry. He was a 1992 graduate of Sherman High School in Sherman, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Garland, in 1976; his mother, Lotus Ann (Milam) Montgomery, on Oct. 9, 1987; and his grandparents, Carlos and Agnes Milam.

Survivors include a son, Jonathan Alexander White of Wadesboro, N.C.; uncle, Andrew J. (Ann) Milam of Rock Creek; adoptive mom, aunt, Duwan Milam of Glen Daniel; a brother, C.C. Daniel of Michigan; a sister, Amber Starr Daniel of Glen Daniel; cousins, Nycoma Milam of Beckley, and Angela Milam of Rock Creek; his fiancé, Shona Brown of Goshen, Ind.; many other loving family and friends; a nephew, Damon Coy Daniel; and a niece, Kayla Dawn Daniel.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Arnett Chapel at Arnett. Burial will follow in Beckley.

Rev. Donald M. Stover Sr.

HOTCHKISS — Rev. Donald M. Stover Sr., 75, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Before moving to Hotchkiss, he and his wife raised their family in Beechwood, W.Va.

He was born on Aug. 4, 1930, in Modock, W.Va. He was an ordained minister for 25 years and pastor of the Stotesbury Community Church for 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Roscoe and Annice Stover; a daughter, Kimberly Sue; two brothers, James and Clarence; and a brother-in-law, Matthew Burnette.

Left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Helen Gray Stover; and six children and their spouses, Kenny Ray Stover, Brenda Elizabeth Stover, Sharon Kay and Charles Keaton, Donna and Robert Ward Jr., Becky and Tommy Halsey and D.J. and Sheri Stover. Other survivors include a brother, Herbert Stover and wife, Anne, from Maryland and sisters, Reo Burnette of Princeton, Mary Ann Clisso and Helen Hylton of Florida.

He was a proud grandfather to eight grandsons, Kenny Stover II, Lloyd Wolfe III, John Keaton, Daniel Stover, Kenton Stover, Robert Lee Ward III, Mark Ward and T.J. Halsey. He was a proud grandfather of four granddaughters, Jenny Keaton McGhee, Robyn Wolfe Wilson, Amber Wolfe and Emily Halsey. He was a wonderful great-grandfather to Caitlin Fisher and Seth Wolfe, David Ray Wilson, Bryant and Brandyn McGhee, Hunter and Faith Renee Keaton, Kenny Stover III, Shaeley Stover, Jacob Stover and Adrianna Stover. Honorary grandchildren who brightened his life were Megan Tolliver, Brad Green and Jake Justice.

Don was loved dearly by family and friends. His love for the Lord and studying God’s Word was second to none. He was an accomplished piano player, retired coal miner and a history buff.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Pastor Thomas Anderson of the Hotchkiss Missionary Baptist Church will be officiating. His granddaughter, Jenny, will provide the music.

Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Pallbearers will be Lloyd Wolfe III, David Wilson, John Keaton, Andy McGhee, Kenton Stover, Robert Ward III, Mark Ward and Butch Joynes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Timmy Cook, John McKinney, Hut Burnette and Gary Wright.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Dr., Beckley is serving the family.

Ronnie D. Toler

OCEANA — Ronnie D. Toler, 67, passed away Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, following a short illness.

Born Sept. 4, 1938, at Lacoma, he was the son of the late Wesley and Ona Short Toler.

Mr. Toler was a member of the Turkey Ridge Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years. He worked for Eastern Peabody Coal Company at Kopperston No. 1, retiring from Harris No. 1 after 25 years of service as a track foreman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mason Toler.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Judy Brooks Toler; three sons, R. Joey Toler and his wife, Suk Yo, Randy Toler and his wife, Cindy, and Rodney Toler, all of Chesapeake, Va.; four grandchildren, Heather Toler, Joshua Toler, Shannon Toler and Jarod Toler, all of Chesapeake, Va.; three brothers, Bernie Toler and his wife, Betty, of Davin, Alfred Toler and his wife, Carolyn, of Brooksville, Fla., and Joe Toler of Oceana; six sisters, Dorothy Sos and husband, Joe, of Silt, Colo., Imogene Wilburn of Man, Glenna Lusk of Riffle, Colo., Barbara England and her husband, Arthur, of Princeton, Patricia Ellis and husband, Leonard, of Man, and Linda Tomblin of Davin.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Turkey Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the church.

David Tomblin, Keith Brooks, Joey Toler, Tony Toler, Jimmy Brooks and Tommy Brooks will serve as pallbearers.

Military rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard.

Lancy H. Windon

Lancy H. Windon, 74, of Sophia-Soak Creek, went with the angels to heaven to be with Jesus Christ our Savior on Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at Raleigh General Hospital, following a short illness.

He was born April 13, 1931, at Sullivan, and was the son of the late Ollie C. and Ollie M. Windon.

Mr. Windon spent his childhood in Sullivan and attended the Old Stoco High School. He was a proud retired coal miner and member of the UMWA District 17. He spent 26 years at Slat Fork Coal Company, where he loved running his Main-line motor.

He was of the Baptist faith, and greatly enjoyed worshiping at Bethel Baptist Church and Tilden Community Church.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who lived every minute of his life to the fullest. He enjoyed the great outdoors and loved to nature watch. In his younger years, he was an avid coon hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Junior, Clifton, Raven and Paul; a sister, Norma-Lee Hart; and his father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Snowden Williams.

Those left to cherish his loving memory include his loving wife of 29 years, Iva “Susie” Windon; a son, Darian Permelia Windon at home; a daughter, Crystal Messenger and husband, Harold of Lester; two grandsons, Harold “Turkey” and Chase Messenger of Lester; two sisters, Gaynel Ratcliff of Sophia, and Lazone Bolen of Baltimore, Md.; a special cousin, Janet “Sissy” Wilson and husband, Richard; their children, Richard and Donna; and grandchildren, Richard, Brianna and Katlyn, all of Philadelphia, Pa.

He is also survived by a large extended family, including seven sisters-in-law, Barbara Condie, Wilma Williams, Betty Windon, Loretta Bragg and husband, James, Judith Dillon and husband, Randy, Peggy Tolley and husband, Charles, Teresa Richmond and husband, Johnny; four brother-in-laws, Steven Williams, Snowden “Bug” Williams Jr., Paul Williams and wife, Kathern, Larry Williams and wife, Roxy; and numerous nieces and nephews. With special thanks and love to a dear sister-in-law, Barbara Condie; and a special niece, Vanessa Harper.

Service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Melton Mortuary, Harper Road, with the Revs. David Cook and Billy Calhoun officiating, with a special reading by Fontaine Veid. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Friends are invited to gather 6 to 9 p.m. today at Melton Mortuary, Harper Road.

Pallbearers will be Randy Dillon, Johnny Richmond, Brian Permelia, Jimmy Harper, Danny Harper and a quite loved one, with honorary pallbearers Kenneth Cunningham and Charles Tolley.

Arrangements by Melton Mortuary will serve the family.

Charles ‘Buddy’ Brooks

PINEVILLE — Charles “Buddy” Brooks, 68, passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, in a Charleston hospital.

Calfee Funeral Service, Pineville, is serving the Brooks family.

Brady Ray Dowdy

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Brady Ray Dowdy, 55, of Dutch Hollow Road, White Sulphur Springs, died Monday morning, Oct. 31, 2005, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea after an extended illness.

Born Aug. 31, 1950, in White Sulphur Springs, he was the son of the late Charles Nichol and Effie Elizabeth Feury Dowdy.

A graduate of the 1968 class at White Sulphur Springs High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany with SP4, M-16 & SSm-14 Expert Marksman ranking. He was employed by C.W. Lewis as an auto body repairman for 20 years and then he worked as a self-employed carpenter and handyman. He was a member of First Church of God on Willow Street, White Sulphur Springs, where he served as a greeter, was on the church council, was janitor and church maintenance man. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. He belonged to the Muzzleloaders Association at Smoot.

Surviving are his wife, Susan Reed Dowdy; three brothers. Marshall Feury, Charles Robert Dowdy and Ben Dowdy, all of White Sulphur Springs; five sisters, Helen Tellier of Leominster, Mass., Gaye Fife of Parkersburg, Nina Jo Bowyer and Levina Moore, both of White Sulphur Springs, and Katie Shafer of Covington, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Church of God, Willow Street, White Sulphur Springs, with the Rev. Mike Nutter officiating. Burial will follow in Dowdy cemetery, Glace.

The family will receive their friends 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs.

Willie Brown

Willie Brown, 83, of 310 Harper Heights Road, Beckley, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Services entrusted to Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor, Beckley.

Patty Daniel

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Patty Daniel, of Alexandria, born Jan. 3, 1941, passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2006.

Interment will be 2 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Lora Davidson

TUCSON, Ariz. — Ms. Lora Davidson, 103, of Tucson, formerly of Kopperston, passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at her home among her loving family.

She was born in Tazewell County, Va., and was the daughter of the late Noah and Molly Whitaker Altizer, both Tazewell County natives.

She had made her home in Kopperston for 57 years before moving to Tucson, where she resided for the last 10 years. Lora was of the Methodist faith and had lived a full and prosperous life. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rufus A. Davidson, a sister, Essie Altizer, and a brother, James Altizer.

Survivors include her adopted granddaughter, Sandra Lucento of Tucson; and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Va., with the Rev. David Brannock officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Va.

Pallbearers will be relatives and friends.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Hurst-Scott Funeral Home, Richlands, is in charge of arrangements.
