ST. ALBANS - Artie-Lda Shomo Reaser, 86, of St. Albans, died at home on Sunday, November 2, 2003.
Artie was born on July 22, 1917 in Belington, the oldest of five daughters of the Rev. Arta Forrest and Musean Thomas Shomo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin D. Reaser; two of her sisters, Mary Shomo Richards and Sarah Shomo Huskey; and a granddaughter, Hilary June Reaser.
Artie spent most of her 86 years quietly and selfishly loving, sewing, praying, tending, supporting, and encouraging her family and friends. She was a woman of unusual wisdom and faith. Her life personified true Christianity: vision, determination, perseverance, meekness, faith, embracing the cross, love, and excellence. She quietly, yet powerfully, influenced many through her example and gentle acts of service, from a heart full of love.
Survivors include her daughter, Sally Reaser Davis and son-in-law, Richard of St. Albans; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Mary Reaser of Salem, Va. and David and Linda Reaser of Cross Lanes; sisters, Jean Shomo Lemon of Parkersburg and Hazel Shomo Goller of Temple, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Rick Davis, Jack Davis, Robin Martin, Sarah O'Brien, Emily Bauer, Andy Reaser, Jaime Reaser-Good, and Joshua Reaser; four step-grandchildren, Alan and Phillip Powers, Tommy and Michael Meadows; 10 great-grandchildren, Chris, Kevin, Matt, Jared, and Bryan Davis, Jeremy and Jordan O'Brien, Hannah Bauer, Lauren and Colin Martin; several "dear to her" nieces and nephews, Artie Alice, Tommie Jean and Ellis, Patty and Brent, Jackie and George, Artie and Mike, Rosanna and Buddy, Donald, Mike and Randy, Bobby, Kaaren and Frank.
Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at her home church, the Scott Depot Christ Fellowship, Scott Depot, with her pastors, Rev. Rodney L. Taylor and Rev. Larry Hammett officiating. Per her wishes, her body has been donated to the Human Gift Registry, her final act of service and giving to others. Coe C. Allen Jr.
Coe C. Allen Jr., 76, of 327 Edgewood Drive, Beckley, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, in a Charleston hospital following a long illness.
Born Nov. 12, 1928, at Beckley, he was the son of the late Coe Allen and Eva Allen.
Coe was involved in scouting and was a leader of an explorer scout troop. He also coached in all levels of baseball, taking his Babe Ruth team to a state championship in 1964. He also enjoyed being around his grandchildren and going to his camp in Monroe County. Coe was retired from Universal Corp as machinist and foreman.
Coe was a member of the First Baptist Church of Beckley and served as treasurer of the Hoge Cook class for many years. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Beulah M. Richards Allen; sons, Jimmy Allen and wife, Kathy, of Asheville, N.C., and David Allen and wife, Valorie, of Beckley; a daughter, Jeanne Nagye and husband, Elmer, of Piney View; a sister, Louise Blankenship of MacArthur; grandchildren, Phil, Josh, Jeremy and Chris Allen, Jennifer Allen Brown, Jeb Nagye, Sarah Nagye Angius; and great-grandchildren, Nathan, Andrew and Grant Allen and Amber Brown.
Service will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with the Rev. Ernest 'Buddy' Calfee Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. until time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home chapel.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Young Barley
PRINCETON - Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Young Barley, 84, was called by her Lord early Monday morning, Sept. 19, 2005, in her home at 1533 Old Athens Road, Princeton.
Born Aug. 4, 1921, at Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Joel and Estie Young.
She was a faithful member of the Melrose Presbyterian Church near Princeton, where she served as president of the Wo-men of the Church and president of the ladies' group as well. She was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and a career teacher for 38 years.
She began her teaching career in the classroom of Oakvale School in 1943, transferring to Lewisburg High School from 1949 to 1960. She returned to Mercer County, Princeton Junior High School, where she taught until her retirement in 1981.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Joel and Estie Young; three brothers, Sherman Young, Carl Young and Allen 'Jake' Young; and two sisters, Pearle Young Butner and Mary Grace Young.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Everett Lee Barley; two sons, Dennis Lee Barley of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Rodney Wayne Barley of Rehoboth Beach, Del., and her daughter Donna Jeanette Barley Hylton; a grandson, Samuel Isaac Barley Hylton; son-in-law, Kenneth Wayne Hylton, Jr., all of Princeton; three sister-in-laws, Anna Hill Young of Princeton, Blanche Barley Taylor of Atlanta, Ga., Grace Barley Bauserman of Ronceverte; and numerous other family members including cousins, nieces and nephews, church family, special neighbors, along with countless friends.
On Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at 11 a.m. we will celebrate the life of Elizabeth Barley from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor's J.D. Clark and K. W. Hylton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton.

LEBANON, Ohio - Debra Lynn Blevins, 48, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at Bethesda Warren County.
She was born Nov. 14, 1956, at Mullens, W.Va., to Clarence M. and Luella Wood Blevins.
Ms. Blevins moved to Lebanon, Ohio, in 1991, coming from Sohpia, W.Va.
She was a graduate of Concord College. She worked as a clerk for Fujitec America and enjoyed baking for her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Elmer, Barney, Ray and Leonard Blevins.
Survivors include two brothers, Jerry Blevins of Oregonia, Ohio, and Lacy Blevins of Hillsboro,Ohio; eight sisters, Oma Prater and Bonnie Atkinson of Lebanon, Ohio, Clara Hensley of Mt. Airy, N.C., Brenda Milam, Janet Harold, and Mary Jane Anderson, all of Helen, W.Va., Joyce Bell and Stella Mahan of Sophia, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
At Debbie's request, her body was cremated and inurnment will take place at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, at the convenience of the family.

WINONA - Lana L. Conley, 69, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, in the Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill following a long illness.
Born March 1, 1936, at Browns, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William and Sylvia Jones Holtsclaw.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Forest Slaughter; her second husband, Robert Conley Sr.; a sister, Mary Bennett; and two brothers, Charles and William Holtsclaw.
Mrs. Conley is survived by five daughters, Hope Petitt of Winona, Joretta Waltman of Pavo, Ga., Ethel Cone of Clifftop, Cindy Chittum of Danese, and Tina Hunt of Hico; three sons, Allen Slaughter of Winona, Robert Conley of Lookout, and Bobby Conley Jr. of Iowa; two brothers, George and Paul Holtsclaw, both of Oak Hill; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel, Ansted, with the Rev. George Chittum officiating. Burial will follow in the Nuttall cemetery at Edmond.

Charlotte Hampton
Charlotte Hampton died of a stroke Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, in a Charlotte, N.C., hospital. She was 77 years old.
A Charlotte resident of 34 years, she was the daughter of the late James Lee and Tressie (Snuffer) Wood of Beckley. She was born in Herndon, Wyoming County, on April 13, 1928.
Mrs. Hampton was a 1944 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, attended the University of Kentucky in Lexington and received her nursing degree from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, Lexington. In the early 1950's, she was on the nursing staff at the old Beckley Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Varge Hampton of Charlotte; two daughters and their husbands, Mrs. James (Vicki) Blaine of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Eric (Lisa) Kolb of Chapel Hill, N.C., and a son, James Scott Hampton and his wife, Wendy, of Charlotte and Greensboro, N.C.; a brother, James Lee Wood Jr. of Beckley; two granddaughters, Amanda Kolb and Holly Hampton, and a grandson, Brent Kolb.
At her request, her body was cremated. A memorial service will be held in Beckley at a later date.

Joan Renee Lilly
Joan Renee Lilly, 43, of Cool Ridge, went peacefully to sleep in the arms of the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at her home.
Born on June 9, 1962, at Beckley, she was the daughter of Ina Ransom Lilly of Cool Ridge and the late James W. Lilly.
Joan was a lifelong resident of Cool Ridge and was a member of the Ghent Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Bud and Nettie Farley Lilly; and by maternal grandparents, Wayne and Lanzy Massie Ransom.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Ina Lilly of Cool Ridge; her companion, Charles Jarrell; four sisters, Retha Lilly of Crab Orchard, Phyllis Wyatt and husband, Ronnie, of Lerona, Margie Marcum and husband, Dale, of Shady Spring, and Beverly Farrish of Cool Ridge; two brothers, Richard Lilly and wife, Tammy, of Columbus, Ohio, and Doug Lilly and wife, Heather, of Daniels; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She will be sadly missed by all.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel with the Rev. Doug Walls officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly and Meadows cemetery at Cool Ridge.

Rickey Dale Meadows
Rickey Dale Meadows, 55, of Shady Spring, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, of a sudden illness.
He was born Sept. 4, 1950, to Wilma Nadine Meadows Ratliff and the late Paul meadows.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, James 'Jimmy' Ratliff.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Dana Lynn Andrews; a son, Richard Dewayne Meadows; five sisters, Leora Lilly, Yvonne Farley, Erma Bailey, Wilma Causey, Leona Long; four brothers, Ronnie Meadows, Charlie Meadows, Manuel Ratliff and Matthew Ratliff; five grandchildren, Hailey Andrews, Lily Andrews, Tyler Meadows, Dylan Meadows and Braedon Meadows; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Dale Prichard.
A private ceremony will be held.
