Albert Fares Jr.

BALTIMORE, Md. — Albert Fares Jr., 64, passed away on Jan. 23, 2007, at his home, following a long illness.

Born April 11, 1942, at Josephine, W.Va., he was the son of the late Albert and Ellen Fares of Josephine.

Albert, better known as Jr, worked at Pemco and Bayer for 39 years and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betty (Wickline) Fares; four children, David and Rose Fares of York, Pa., Sue Ellen Hall of Dundalk, Md., Patricia Fares of Abbingdon, Md., and Anthony and Allison Fares of Fallston, Md. He is also survived by a brother, Robert Vince Fares and his wife, Rita, of Springboro, Ohio; and a sister, Susan E. Mills and her husband, Michael, of Ghent; also 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Service was conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home in Dundalk, Md. Burial followed at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Essex, Md.

Arrangements were by Duda-Ruck Funeral Home in Dundalk, Md.

Joseph Edward Friel

MARLINTON — Joseph Edward Friel, 92, died Feb. 4, 2007.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Marlinton Presbyterian Church.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the VanReenen Funeral Home, Marlinton.

Jack B. Kellison

MARLINTON — Jack B. Kellison, 76, a native of Marlinton, died Feb. 5, 2007.

Service will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale, followed by a celebration of his life at the Durbin United Methodist Church on Saturday, Feb. 10.

A Celebration of Life service for Ulla S. Kittle has been planned for Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, from 1 until 3 p.m. at the Soldiers Memorial Theatre, 200 South Kanawah Street, Beckley, WV.

The Rev. William H. Law, 97, of 334 N. Eisenhower Dr., Beckley, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at Raleigh General Hospital.

Delores Ann Lively

NETTIE — Delores Ann Lively, 56, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Olive Branch Baptist Church at Nettie. Burial will follow in Fairview cemetery, Nettie.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

Dennis Scott Lively

THORNVILLE, Ohio — Dennis Scott Lively, 59, formerly of Meadow Bridge, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007.

Born on Sept. 7, 1947, at Hinton, he was the son of the late Russell and Eva Richmond Lively and the late David and Wanda Richmond McLaughlin.

Mr. Lively was a former draftsman with an electrical company in Ohio and a strong Christian.

Survivors include his loving companion, Barbara Wade; two brothers, John McLaughlin of Jumping Branch and Dale McLaughlin of Pipestem; four sisters, Helen Stanley of Hebron, Ohio, Margaret Judy of Jumping Branch, Barbara Bowling of Beckley and Linda Harvey of Stuarts Draft, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Smathers Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Patton Memorial cemetery at Meadow Bridge.

Friends may call one hour before the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Ileta Gaye Madison

RENICK — Ileta Gaye Madison, 64, passed away Feb. 4, 2007.

There will be a memorial service at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

WHITEWATER — Verla Agnes Gray Painter, 85, of Nicholas County, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pierson Chapel United Methodist Church, Zela. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at White Funeral Home, Summersville.

CANVAS — Dick Sanossian, 76, of Nicholas County, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ward Road Freewill Baptist Church at Nettie.

Kathleen Salyers

MATHENY — Kathleen Salyers, 77, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at her son’s home in Lincolnton, N.C. She was born March 30, 1929, at Mohegan, W.Va., a daughter of the late Frank and Sylvania (Thompson) Lambert.

She was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Fruia and her second husband, Clarence Salyers along with a son, Jimmy Fruia; a sister, Dorthy (Lambert) Nelson and two brothers, Frank Lambert and Kelly Lambert.

Survivors include four sons, Ronnie Fruia and wife, Donna, of Lincolnton, N.C.; Joseph Fruia and wife, Melody of Glen Fork; Johnny Fruia of Statesville, N.C., and Clarence Salyers and wife, Belinda, of Matheny; two sisters, Geraldine Stone and husband, Allen, of Matheny, and Joan Runyon of Jesse; four brothers, Doug Lambert and wife, Gloria, of Matheny, Freddie Lambert and wife, Gloria, of Lillydale, Howard Lambert and wife, Barbara, of Hampton, and Roy Lambert and wife, Joan, of Matheny; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with a host of other loving family and friends.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home at Lynco, with the Brother E.J. Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call 11 a.m. until time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco.

Dernel Ray Smith

RICHWOOD — Dernel Ray Smith, 67, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood. Friends may call 10 until 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Lottie Ann Smith

OAK HILL — Lottie Ann Smith, 72, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at home following an extended illness.

Born on Oct. 18, 1934, at Sanger, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Myrtle Tincher Evans.

Mrs. Smith attended the Church of God at Pea Ridge. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Eugene Smith; four brothers, Hubert Evans, Houston Evans, Hiram Evans and Ben Evans, Jr.; four half-brothers, Perry Evans, Denver Evans, Elmer Evans and Benny Evans; two sisters, Rosie Williams and Dollie Olds; one stepsister, Mae Evans; and two grandsons, Michael Eugene Pennington and Basil Wayne Pennington.

Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Ben Willard Olds of Lochgelly; Willis Lee Smith of Williamsburg, Va., and John Hardy Smith of Prudence; two daughters, Christine Ann Schoolcraft of Mossy and Estell Julie Pennington of Oak Hill; one brother, Charles Evans; one sister, Ina Elder of Oak Hill; grandchildren, Ben Olds, Jr., Shawn Olds, David Ruff, Cheryl Ruff, Justin Ruff, Joey Pennington, Elizabeth Pennington, Ester Pennington, Kaley Smith, Randi Smith, and Zachary Smith and companion, Orville Barker, Jr.

Graveside funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Danny Damron officiating. Burial will follow.

The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m., today, Feb. 6, 2007, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville.

Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, is in charge of the arrangements.

Paula Sue Sydenstricker

ST. ALBANS — Paula Sue Sydenstricker, 51, of St. Albans, formerly of Beckley, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, in a Charleston hospital.

Born July 29, 1955, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Paul Sydenstricker and Margaret Sloan Sydenstricker of Beckley.

She was a homemaker and attended Calvary As-sembly of God.

Surviving besides her mo-ther are: a daughter: April Taylor and her husband, Alan, of Sophia; a brother: David Sydenstricker and his wife, Teresa, of Grandview; a sister: Rebecca Stowers and her husband, William, of Ghent; and two grandchildren.

She will be sincerely missed by her many friends that she considered family.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor John Jordan officiating. Burial in the Calfee cemetery, Mt. Tabor.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in memory of Paula may be made to April Taylor, 241 Elm St., Beckley, WV 25801.

Thurman R. ‘Buddy’ Vannoy Jr.

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. — Thurman R. “Buddy” Vannoy Jr., 40, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007.

Service will be noon Friday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel, Arbovale. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Friday. Additional viewing will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at R.L. Williams Jr. Funeral Home Inc. Skippack Pike and Cedars Rd., Skippack, Pa.

COLLEGE PARK – Mrs. Verna B. Thompson White, of College Park, passed away Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007.
