OAK HILL - James "Ran-dy" Hickman, 43, of Oak Hill, died Monday, July 28, 2003, at Plateau Medical Center.
Born Jan. 30, 1960, he was the son of Betty Jean Warrick Hickman and the late Carroll Hickman Jr.
Mr. Hickman was a member of the I.B.E.W. and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Sue Hickman Woodman.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Nancy Snedegar Hickman; two daughters, Katie and Molly Hickman; a sister, Marilyn Elaine Hickman Richie of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Bernie Jernigan officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

MOUNT HOPE - Ella Mae Langston, 69, of 710 Second St., died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.
Born July 7, 1934, in Logan County, she was the daughter of the late George Marcum and Rebecca Browning Marcum.
Ella Mae was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sister.
Survivors include a son, Robert Langston; two daughters, Rebecca Watts and Jennifer Watts and husband, Dennis; and grandchildren, Walter Langston, Brenda Evans and Michael Evans.
Service will be 1 p.m. today at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill, with Pastor Roger E. Pauley. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum.

Leonard Ervin Logan, 57, of 518 Ewart Ave., Beckley, died at 9:10 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2003, at VA Medical Center, Beckley, following a four-month illness.
Born Feb. 1, 1946, in Pickshin, he was the son of Elizabeth L. (Boyce) Logan of Beckley and the late William J. Logan.
Mr. Logan was a disabled veteran. He attended Mount Zion Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by brothers, John H., Ersal Ray and Beverly A. Logan.
Survivors include companion, Patricia Cosby; children, Nina Logan and Kim Logan, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kevin Cosby of Beckley and Angela Cosby of Roanoke, Va.; brothers and sisters, William J. Logan Jr. and wife, Donnay, of Cincinnati, Andrew L. Logan of Beckley, Lorean Woods and husband, Hosea, of Cincinnati, Mary Logan and Curtis of Atlanta, Ga., Betty Logan and Jesse of Cincinnati, Eddie L. Venable of Cincinnati and Mitchell L. Logan of Cleveland, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Logan and Joyce Logan, both of Beckley.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 142 Mool Ave., Beckley, with the Rev. Jerry Staples officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Esta M. Sunderland Volksen
MOUNT HOPE - Esta M. Sunderland Volksen, 45, of Mount Hope, died Monday, July 28, 2003, in a Beckley area hospital following a long illness.
Born Aug. 10, 1958, she was the daughter of Doris Christopher of Texas.
Mrs. Volksen attended Wesleyan Church of Mount Hope.
She loved being with her grandson, cleaning her house and talking to her friends.
She was a phlebotomist at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Survivors include her caring husband, William G. Sneed Jr.; three loving sons, J.C. Zeir of Texas, Lance E. Zeir of Texas and Harley T. Volksen and fiancee, Lexi Goldsberry, of Mount Hope; a daughter, Carla Toney; a precious grandson, Damian Joy of Mount Hope; several brothers and sisters; and a host of friends.
A gathering will be held 6 to 8 p.m. today at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley.

Paul Harold Williams
OAK HILL - Paul Harold Williams, 65, of Oak Hill, died suddenly Monday, July 28, 2003, at home.
Born Aug. 6, 1937, in Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Pricie Hobart and Anna Marie Nicholas Williams.
Mr. Williams was retired from the Maryland National Park Police in Silver Spring, Md., with 22 years of service and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He attended Oak Hill United Methodist Church and was active in the Men's Bible Class.
He was preceded in death by a son, Craig Lee Williams.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Rosa Lee Buster Williams; a daughter, Tammie Jean Williams of Germantown, Md.; a son, Allan Raymond Williams of Damascus, Md.; a grandson, Bryan Michael Will-iams of Damascus; sisters, Marie Davis and husband, Cortez, of Oak Hill and Nancy Garvin and husband, Charles, of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with the Rev. Claude R. Miller officiating.

JESSE - John "Johnny" Ralph Allen, 59, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 28, 2003, at the home of his sister, Dianna Altizer, following a long illness.
Born Oct. 31, 1943 at Jesse, he was the son of the late Powell and Helen Bledsoe Allen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert "Bob" Allen; and a ne-phew, James Randell Myers.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Privett and husband, Johnny, of China Grove, N.C., Dana Hofe and husband, Mike, of Oak Hill and Denise Myers and husband, Roger, of Pineville; one brother, Daniel Allen and wife, Gladys, of Lindside; three sisters, Bertha Myers and husband, Johnnie, of Thomasville, N.C., Juanita Carothers of Oceana and Dianna "Sissy" Altizer and husband, George, of Jesse; six grandchildren, Kristofer and Heather Privett, Killian and Kelsey Hofe and Adam and Amy Myers; five nieces; five nephews; and a host of friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Herman Cook officiating. Singers will be the Francis Family. Burial will follow in the Cook cemetery, Jesse.

William O. Bennett, 89, of Beaver, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, in a Daniels area care facility, following a long illness.
Born Feb. 25, 1914, in Crow, he was the son of the late Perry David and Mattie May Harris Lilly Bennett.
Mr. Bennett was a member of the Crow Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry J. Bennett; five sisters, Amy Corder, Geneva Adkins, Treva Bennett, Hazel Sonders and Retha Mae Lilly; two brothers, Mason Bennett and Elliot Bennett; and a grandchild.
Survivors include his wife, Molly E. Bennett; a daughter, Etta M. Bennett of Mechanicsville, Va.; a son, Luther P. Bennett of Flat Top; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the Redden cemetery at Crow, with Pastor Dennis Burks officiating. Burial will follow.
