John Hunter Williams, 82, of Route 3, Fayetteville, died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at the home of his caregivers, John and Barbara Kinley in Oak Hill, following a long illness.
Born March 8, 1921, at Durbin, he was the son of the late John Luther and Frona Flynn Williams.
Mr. Williams was a retired chemical engineer for Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., Akron, Ohio. He was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church. He served in the US Navy as a pilot.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Barlow Williams; a brother, Robert Williams; and a sister, Millie Williams.
Survivors include a son, John Hunter Williams Jr. of Alexandria, Va.; a daughter, Millie W. Petersen of Fayetteville; and grandchildren, Drew and Julie Petersen of Fayetteville.
Graveside rites and committal will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Arbovale cemetery with the Rev. Mark Flynn officiating. Burial will follow.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Flynn Foundations, Scholarship Fund, Cullowhee, NC 2723 or Salvation Army, 312 S. Fayette St., Beckley, WV 25801.
John Ralph Allen
JESSE - John Ralph "Johnny" Allen, 59, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 28, 2003, at the home of his sister, Dianna Altizer, following a long illness.
Born Oct. 31, 1943, at Jesse, he was the son of the late Powell and Helen Bledsoe Allen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert "Bob" Allen; and a nephew, James Randell Myers.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Privett and husband, Johnny, of China Grove, N.C., Dana Hofe and husband, Mike, of Oak Hill and Denise Myers and husband, Roger, of Pineville; a brother, Daniel Allen and wife, Gladys, of Lindside; three sisters, Bertha Myers and husband, Johnnie, of Thomasville, N.C., Juanita Carothers of Oceana and Dianna "Sissy" Altizer and husband, George, of Jesse; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Sue Allen of Lester; six grandchildren, Kristofer and Heather Privett, Killian and Kelsey Hofe, and Adam and Amy Myers; five nieces; five nephews; and a host of friends.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Herman Cook officiating. Sing-ers will be the Francis Family. Burial will follow in Cook cemetery, Jesse.

William Arthur Beller
WHITESVILLE - William Arthur Beller, 55, of the Pettus area of Whitesville, formerly of Sylvester and Colcord, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, in Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Hospital, following a short illness.
Born March 3, 1948, in Charleston, he was a son of the late Murrell and Thelma Lucille White Beller.
Mr. Beller was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a foreman for Eastern Associated Coal Corp.'s Harris Mine, Wharton. He was a member of Boone Lodge No. 162 AF&AM at Whitesville.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dianne Walker Beller.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Beller; sons, William Stacy and Jeromey Chad Beller, both of Sylvester, and Frederick Branham of Belle; two brothers, Steven Meridith Beller of Colcord and Lloyd Gregory Beller of Dorothy; and two grandsons.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Armstrong Funeral Home Chapel, Whitesville, with the Rev. Gary Maynor officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview cemetery, Orgas.

Betty Lou Monday Blankenship
MULLENS - Betty Lou Monday Blankenship, 77, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Duke University Hospital, Dur-ham, N.C.
Born Feb. 14, 1926, at Ma-ben, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Alice Banton Monday.
Mrs. Blankenship was a homemaker and a faithful member of Highland Avenue Baptist Church, Mullens, where she had formerly held several positions. They included Deaconess and Deacon Board, Board of Christian Education, Social and Flower Committee, and she had helped with Vacation Bible School and Christmas plays. She was an active member of the Adult Sunday School Class and Ladies Circle of the Church.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Monday.
Survivors include her caring and loving husband of 47 years, Cloyd Blankenship; two sons, Mark Blankenship of Raleigh, N.C., and Rick Rice of Mullens; a grandson, Merrick Rice of Huntington; a sister, Mae Worley and husband, Lewis, of Mullens; and a brother, Dave Monday and wife, Reva, of Mullens.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Highland Avenue Baptist Church, Mullens, with the Rev. Mike Toler officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

RUPERT - Alva V. Brooks, 89, passed away Tuesday morning, July 29, 2003, at his home following a long illness.
Born Jan. 18, 1914, at Centralia, he was a son of the late Jahue and Annie Johns Brooks.
Mr. Brooks attended school in the Elk River area and was a retired coal miner.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Bessie Allen Green Brooks; three daughters, Erma Redden and husband, Dewey, of Hughesville, Md., Carol Woods of Akron, Ohio, and Connie Martin and husband, Robert, of Rupert; three sons, Don Brooks and wife, Sylvia, of Craigsville, Alva Brooks Jr. of Charleston and James M. Brooks and wife, Chris, of Berkeley Springs; a sister, Virginia Badzek of Morgantown; a brother, Vance Salisburg of Tennessee; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Christine Clark, 90, of North Beckley, died at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Timber View Health Care Center, Gary, Ind., following a short illness.
Mrs. Clark was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Gary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clark; and her daughter, Louella Brown.

Agnes L. Jones Dolsey
Agnes L. Jones Dolsey, 85, of Beckley, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 25, 2003.
Born Dec. 7, 1917, in Appomattox, Va., she was the daughter of the late Whitt Jones and Mary West Jones Wilkes.
Mrs. Dolsey was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the No. 2 Choir, No. 2 District Choir, Sunday School, Prayer Service and Bi-ble Study until her health no longer permitted.
She work-ed for a series of geriatric care facilities in the Beckley area.
She married John Edward Dolsey in Slab Fork, and they were together for 54 years at the time of his death in 1989. From this union three daughters were born.
Her beloved brother, Manuel Jones, preceded Mrs. Dolsey in death in 1968.
She will be eternally missed by her brother, Daniel Jones of Detroit, Mich.; daughters, Alice Page, formerly of Louisville, Ky., E. Bernice Jackson of Beckley and Mary Ann (Homer) Patterson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; son, James E. Madison of Highland, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a niece; three nephews; and well as many other relatives and a host of friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathaniel Carey of New Hope Baptist Church and Dr. David McDowell of Ebenezer Baptist Church officiating. Entombment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley.
Friends may visit two hours before service Friday at the church.
Members of the church will serve as pallbearers and flower bearers.
