Tressa Lee Stalnaker Legg
Tressa Lee Stalnaker Legg, 97, formerly of Hico and Mount Lookout, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at Summersville Nursing Home.
Born March 18, 1906, on Strange Creek, Braxton County, she was the daughter of the late Warden R. and Euorkey E. Schoolcraft Stalnaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Carl Legg, in 1985.
Survivors include her son, James Granville Legg of Beckley; a daughter, Mary Helen Kessler of Lewisburg; grandchildren, James Nicolas Legg of Pickerington, Ohio, Susan Bauer of Bluefield, Cheryl Ann Hudnall of Kingsport, Tenn., Mary Susan Dee, Jonathon Kessler and Chris Kessler of Biddeford, Maine, and Nick Kessler of South Boston, Va.
Service will be 2 p.m. today at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Mount Lookout Road, with visitation one hour before service. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor. The family will announce a memorial service at a later date.

Larry Dale McMillion
Larry Dale McMillion, 55, of Sullivan, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, in a Charleston hospital following a long illness.
Born June 11, 1948, he was the son of the late Henry "Dude" and Geneviva Miller McMillion.
Larry spent his childhood at Stover. He lived in Beckley at Laurel Terrace for 27 years. He was a faithful employee of Beckley Moose Lodge No. 1606 for 27 years, where he was assistant manager.
Survivors include his loving companion of 14 years, Mary Farley, and her daughter, Mary Ellen; three aunts, Elsie Alderman of Stover, Esta Pettry of St. Albans and Bessie Husner of Lyons; an uncle, James Miller of Stover; and numerous cousins and many friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Melton Mortuary Cha-pel, Beckley, with the Rev. Charlie Bolen officiating. Burial will follow in Miller cemetery, Rock Creek.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Clifton Farley, Raymond Foster, Danny Rizzi, Charles Hambric, Patrick Belcher, Jack Mobley, Ray Ward and Lawrence Hinkle.
Memorial rites will be conducted at the graveside by Beckley Moose Lodge No. 1606.

Frances Irene Link Scott
Frances Irene Link Scott, 85, of Table Rock, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at a local health care facility after a long illness.
Born Dec. 15, 1917, at Bowyer, Raleigh County, Mrs. Scott was the daughter of the late Posey Link and Anna Lee Hackworth Link.
Mrs. Scott was a resident of Crow for 13 years, attended Crow Elementary School, was a graduate of Shady Spring High School and attended Beckley College. She married John Howard Scott in August 1938 and was a resident of Table Rock from 1938 to 2003, which includes nine years in a health care facility.
She was a member of Grandview Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Howard Scott, in 1962; a son-in-law, Harold Martin; brother, Paul Link; nephew, Ronnie Link; three brothers-in-law, Victor Rupe, Ray Campbell and Jennings McCormack; and a sister-in-law, Pearl Scott.
Survivors include two sons, John O. Scott and his wife, Abigail, of Table Rock and C. David Scott and his wife, Sue, of Burke, Va.; a daughter, Sandra Scott Martin of Crow; three grandsons, John Howard Scott and his wife, Lisa, Jason Howard Scott and Eric David Scott of Lebanon, Va.; four granddaughters, Beth Scott Richmond of Huntington, Ruth Martin May and her husband, Jimmy, of Cool Ridge, Wendi Martin and Kimberly Martin Lambert of Crow; eight great-grandchildren, John Martin, Rhea and Catherine May, Brooke Scott, Carrie Richmond, John Scott, Jacob and Jared Lambert; sisters-in-law, Jessie McCormack, Betty Scott and Lois Link, and a brother-in-law, Philip Scott.
Mrs. Scott is survived by five sisters, Joyce and husband, Kenneth Jordan, Legatha and husband, Walter Furrow, Geneva Rupe and Patricia Campbell, all of Crow, and Martha and husband, Homer Phelps, of Miami; and two brothers, Howard Link of Shady Spring and Jerry Link and wife, Jean, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
Nieces and nephews of the Link family: Deborah Crook, Pamela Miles, Sherri Morgan, Mary Jane Willis, Karen Gray, Jennie Gay Grayson, Robert Phelps, Randy and Eddie Furrow, Keith Jordan, Steve, Kerry, David, Edwin, John, Mark, Tom and Alan Link; nine great-nieces and 14 great-nephews. Nieces and nephews of the Scott family are Barbara Comstock, Carma Concepcion, Gene, Tom, Danny and Billy Scott, and Kenneth "Buzz" McCormack; seven great-nieces and seven great-nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Grandview Christian Church with Pastors Russ Jordan, Oscar Schwitzerlette and Doug Noel officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview cemetery.
Friends may call 1 p.m. until time of service Monday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Howard Scott, Keith Jordan, Kerry Link, Jimmy K. Richmond, Jimmy May, John Martin, Ronnie Richmond and James D. Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Scott and Eric Scott.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Kath-ryn A. Wiley, 86, formerly of Beckley, passed away Monday, June 16, 2003, in Columbus.
Born Feb. 2, 1917, in Huntington, she was the daughter of the late Grover and Mamie Wellman Gebhardt.
Mrs. Wiley was a member of the Columbus Metropolitan Quilters, Beckley Art Group, Hands All Around and Penthouse Quilt Groups and Quilter's Circle of the United Methodist Church in Beckley.
Her husband, Earley "Fuzzy" Wiley, and a brother, Charles "Bus" Gebhardt, preceded her in death.
She is survived by sons, Robert E. Wiley and wife, Carol, Jack G. Wiley and wife, Joyce, and daughter-in-law, Ruth Wiley, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Jennifer Wiley, Leslie Wiley-Dutham and husband, Joe, Jason Wiley and wife, Muge, Jermey Wiley and wife, Maggie, and Jonathan Wiley; and great-granddaughters, Ariel, Peri, Madison, Jenna and Emma.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. John Lares officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

LEWISBURG - Ida Geraldine Rakes Bower, 80, formerly of Daniels, went home to be with the Lord at 12:35 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2003, after a long illness.
Born Dec. 29, 1922, at Dan-iels, she was the daughter of the late Dan Rakes and Ines Worley Rakes.
Mrs. Bower was a former employee of G.C. Murphy Co. in Beckley and Rakes Market in Daniels.
She had made her home at Lewisburg for the past eight years, and was a former resident of Auto and Daniels.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond C. Rakes; and two sons, Jerry W. Moo-maw and Kent Douglas Bower.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Clarence Bower; a daughter, Connie A. Mills of Beckley; two grandchildren, Douglas B. Mills and wife, Christy, of Concord, N.C., and Amanda J. Cloonan and husband, Jeremy, of Shady Spring; three great-grandchildren, J.D. Cloonan, Taylor Nicole Cloonan and Ethan Douglas Mills; and two sisters, Eileen Smith and Anna Lee Meade, both of Daniels.
Service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley. Private burial will follow in Worley cemetery, Daniels.

Margarette L. Wallace Edwards, 88, of Sophia, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 17, 2003, following a long illness.
Born July 26, 1914, at Turkey Knob, she was the daughter of the late Harry Wallace and Katherine Wallace.
Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker and a member of Sophia First Baptist Church.
She loved cooking and cleaning and taking care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Bernard Edwards; three sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Walter Edwards and wife, Kaye, of West Minster, Calif., and George Edwards and wife, Judy, of Sophia; four daughters, Shirley Pannell and husband, Charles, of Ravenswood, Peggy Small of Sophia, Virginia Sweeney "Lovie" and husband, Gordon, of Sweeneysburg and Carolyn Brown and husband, Donnie, of Crab Orchard; a brother, Harry Wallace of Centreville, Va.; two sisters, Betty Farmer of Point Pleasant and Lena Wherle of Charles-ton; neighbors and best friends, Donald and Glorine Stone; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sophia First Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Mun-dy officiating. Burial will follow in Hot Coal cemetery, Sophia.

Steven Steward Gwinn
MOUNT HOPE - Steven Steward Gwinn, 55, formerly of Lockbridge, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2003, at home following a short illness.
Born Jan. 28, 1948, he was the son of the late Burke and Ruby Ramsey Gwinn.
Mr. Gwinn served in Vietnam with the U.S. Navy and was a contractor.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas K. Gwinn, in addition to his parents.
Survivors include his companion, Ladonia Pike of Mount Hope; a stepdaughter, Tina of Elkhart, Ind.; a son, Stevie Gwinn of Elkhart; two stepsons, Terry and Eddie, both of Elkhart; a sister, Judy of Florida; and three grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
There will be no service. The body is to be cremated.
