CLINTONVILLE — Gary Allen Hanna, 37, passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at his home following a sudden illness.
Born April 10, 1969, at Richwood, he was a beloved son of Maynard C. and Judith Trout Hanna of Clintonville.
Mr. Hanna was a sales representative for American Beer Company at Meadow Bluff and was of the Church of Christ faith. Gary was a loving son, brother, husband, father and friend. He was an avid hunter and loved working on his farm. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and volunteering his time at Smoot Elementary School where he was an assistant coach of the girls’ basketball team. Mr. Hanna was always willing to help in any capacity.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Oran and Bessie Hanna and Clifford and Catherine Trout.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Sandra Fisher Hanna and his children, Ashley Morgan and Garrett Allen Hanna, both at home; a brother, Maynard Bryan Hanna and wife, Melissa of Clintonville; a sister, Tonja Ridgeway and husband, Charlie of Lewisburg; a niece, Tiffany, and two nephews, Cobie and Brandon, and a host of family and friends. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smathers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Tincher officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial cemetery at Clintonville.
Friends may call two hours before the services from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bernie Edward Honaker
SWANSBORO, N.C. — Bernie Edward Honaker, 40, formerly of Arnett, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, after an extended illness.
Born May 15, 1966, in Chicago, he was the son of Paul Honaker of Angola, Ind., and Rose Conkle of Surveyor.
He was preceded in death by his two infant children, Gary Paul and Morgan Lee; grandparents, Delmar and Lou Honaker, Doss McMillion and Lou Emma Marion; his stepmother, Agnes Honaker and two step sisters, Debbie Davis and Brenda Davis.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife of 18 years, Jodie (Ramm) Honaker; two sons, Dusty and Billy, both at home; father and mother-in-law, Gary and Sue Ramm of Toledo, Ohio; brothers, Gary Paul and wife, JoAnn of West Palm Beach, Fla., Danny and wife, Laina of Butler, Ind.; a half brother, Alan of Angola, Ind.; two step brothers, Rusty Davis and wife, Tracy of North Fort Myers, Fla., Timmy Davis of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Kelly Ramm of Toledo and Kristen Ramm of Toledo.
Bernie had recently worked in construction. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his boys and walking along the beach with his loving wife.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Walters Funeral Home, 463 Glendale Ave., Toledo, Ohio, 43614, with Pastor John J. Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Toledo Memorial cemetery.
Friends may call 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Gary Paul Honaker, Danny Honaker, Vernon Honaker, Jimmy Lucas, Rodney Honaker, Willie Lemon and Steve Cook.

Myrtie Mae White
On Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, one of God’s special children became one of his special angels when Myrtie Mae White passed away in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. She was in her 84th year.
Born Jan. 18, 1922, in Bolt, Myrtie was the ninth of 10 children born to the late James P. and Ettie Worley White.
Myrtie was a special needs child all her life. She made her home at Bolt where the White family was lifelong residents.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Lowell, Preston and Clinton Cleo White; five sisters, Hesper Thornton, Icie Price, Kermith Farley, Edith Coldiron and Merle Shrewsbury.
Myrtie is the dear sister of Emogene Ash of Bolt. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Stapleton officiating. Myrtie will be buried by her parents at the Worley cemetery at Bolt.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Joe Thomas Bolen
With his children at his side, Joe Thomas Bolen, 70, of Stanaford entered into heaven on Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Lewisburg following a long illness.
Born March 13, 1937, at Sandlick, he was the son of the late Carl Frank Bolon and Bertha Marie Bolon Prunesti. In addition to his parents, brothers Carl Bolon, Estes Bolon, Luther Bolon, Lewis Bolon; and a sister, Leena Daniels, precede him in death.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, David and wife, Diana, of Crab Orchard; daughter, Nancy Jo Bennett and husband, Blaine, of Lewisburg; granddaughters, Tiffany and Candice Jo Bennett of Lewisburg; and one great-granddaughter, Cherokee Sky Bennett of Lewisburg; brothers, Dave Bolon, Paul Bolon and Jesse Prunest; sisters, Mildred Prunest, Katherine Black, Rosie Baldwin, Mary Daniels and Elizabeth Prunest; as well as a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2007, in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bill Prunest officiating.
Friends may gather with the family 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Norman Lloyd Calloway
Norman Lloyd Calloway, 27, entered into eternal rest at his home on Saturday, June 16, 2007.
Born Nov. 9, 1979, at Beckley, he was the son of Norman L. Calloway and the late Muriel Cecile Wilson Calloway.
Norman was a security officer and a member of Charles-towne Baptist Temple, now Coastal Light Baptist Church.
He graduated from St. Andrews High School in 1998 and attended Trident Technical College.
Norman was preceded in death by his mother, Muriel Cecile Calloway; maternal grandfather, Thomas Wilson, Turks & Caicos Islands; and his paternal grandparents, L.S. and Mary Evelyn Calloway, Mt. Hope.
Norman is survived by his father, Norman L. Calloway; a sister, Samantha; three brothers, Audie (Carla), Mark (Bianca), all of Florida, and Dustin of Charleston, S.C.; his maternal grandmother, Doris Wilson of Hollywood, Fla.; aunts: Marilyn Wilson of Charleston, S.C., Glenda and Buelah Wilson of Hollywood, Fla., Nancy McNeil of Los Angeles, Calif., Judith Gambill of Galax, Va., and Mary Armstead (Warren) of South Point, Ohio; uncles: Kenneth Wilson (Sharon), Llewelyn Wilson, Darron Wilson, David Wilson (Julie), Tony Wilson, all of Florida, Franklyn Wilson, Turks & Caicos Islands, John Calloway (Hazel) of Columbus, Ohio, William Calloway (Jean) of Suitland, Md., Duane Calloway of Mount Hope, Leroy Calloway (Portia) of Forrestville, Md., Michael Calloway (Veronica) of Lawton, Okla.; one niece; five nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.

Helen N. Carey
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Helen N. Carey, 59, formerly of Beckley, died June 19, 2007, at Kobacker House, Columbus.
Born June 2, 1948, at Beckley, she was preceded in death by her mother, Viola Johnson, and stepfather, L.M. Johnson; father, Nathan Eldridge; and best friend, Donna Campbell.
Survivors include her children, Flora Carey (Jason Watkins) and Deerick Carey; brothers, Alfonza (Chubby) Carey, Eugene Carey, Nathaniel Carey, Archie Carey, Rufus Carey, Freddie Carey and Johnnie Johnson; nine grandchildren; special nieces, Terita Carey, Eugenia Carey, Karen Carey-Granger; a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and cousins.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 141 New Guinea Ave., Beckley, with the Rev. Nathaniel Carey and the Rev. Kelly Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Mrs. Nan Matney Childress, 92, went to be with her Lord on June 19, 2007, after a short illness at her home in The Carrington in Lynchburg, Va.
Born in Davy, W.Va., on Oct. 19, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Reverend John Matney and Victoria Green Matney.
She was married for over fifty years to the late Leon Childress as they made their home in Bradshaw and Oceana, W.Va., and later in Deland, Fla.
Mrs. Childress delighted in her roles as mother, wife, housekeeper and later grandmother. She worked hard to give her family good food, clean clothes, a clean home and lots of love. A private person, Mrs. Childress loved singing and writing poetry. She was baptized into the Toneda Missionary Baptist Church as a teenager and was an active member until moving to Florida after Mr. Childress retired from coal mining. In Deland, she and her husband joined the Stetson Baptist Church. Mrs. Childress was a committed Christian who loved the Lord.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leon; a beloved son, Richard Kenneth Childress; two brothers, Howard Matney and Edward Matney; and three sisters, Zola Matney Pittman, Opal Matney Williams and Dreama Matney Browning. Her stepmother, Maude Cook Matney, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Sue Childress Davidson and her husband, Edsel, of Deland, Fla.; a son, Paul Charles Childress and his wife, Sandy, of Lynchburg, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Sue Blankenship Childress of Spotsylvania Va.; four grandchildren, Teri Davidson of Olympia, WA, Derek Childress of Ashburn Va., Becky Childress Fritz and husband, Alex, of Blacksburg, Va., BethAnne Childress Bort and husband Donovan of Apex, N.C.; six great-grandchildren, Calaway Childress, Cameron Childress, Lauren Fritz, Sydney Fritz, Rachel Bort and Nathaniel Bort; four brothers, Jack Matney and wife, Louise, of Oceana, Aaron Matney and wife, Linda, of Lexington, N.C., Bill Matney and wife, Karen, of Mason Mich., Joe Matney and wife, Phyllis, of Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Naomi Matney Smith and husband, Bernard, of Albany, Ga., and Sue Matney Sadwin and husband, Arnold, of Cherry Hill N.J. A special nephew, David Mayberry and wife, Joy, of Oceana and many dozens of other friends, nephews, nieces and their children survive her.
Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2007, in the Evans Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James A. Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
