Clarence Michael Mills, 57, of Beckley, passed away at Charleston Area Medical Center on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, following a short illness.
Mike is survived by his parents, William C. “Buddy” and Shirley Farley Mills of Catlettsburg, Ky. (formerly of Blue Jay Six Road in Cool Ridge); a son, Douglas B. Mills and his wife, Christy, of Concord, N.C.; a daughter, Amanda JoAnn Cloonan and her husband, Jeremy, of Daniels; a nephew, Jeremy T. Mills of Grand Cayman Island; his former wife and friend, Connie A. Mills of Beaver; and five grandchildren, Ethan, Alyssa and Madelynn Mills and J.D. and Taylor Cloonan.
Mike was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda JoAnn Mills.
Mike was a 1968 graduate of Shady Spring High School. He worked as a lineman for R.H. Bouligny, as a truck driver for Tamroy Mining and Pocahontas Coal, and as an electrical worker for Bayliss and Ramey.
During Mike’s tenure with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, he worked in Ohio, West Virginia and North Carolina. Upon retirement three years ago Mike returned to the Beckley area to live.
Mike was a loving son, father and grandfather. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time in the woods and hunting with his children. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who brought so much joy to his life. Mike will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring, with Preacher Delmas Cox officiating. Viewing will be 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Donna Jean Nelson
Donna Jean Nelson, 76, of Fairdale, went to be with her Lord and Savior at Mount Carmel-St. Anne’s Hospital in Westerville, Ohio, on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, surrounded by her loving family. She was born at Gill and was the daughter of the Rev. Andrew Adkins and Daisy Cooper Adkins.
Donna was a born again Christian, a loving wife and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gospel music, taking walks, working in her garden and spending time with her family. Donna had been a Christian for 59 years and was a member of Fairdale Freewill Baptist Church for 40 years. Donna was preceded in death by a grandson, Rex Lane Farmer Jr.; her parents; five brothers, Willard, Billy, Bo, Roland and Dencil; and four sisters, Nellie, Dessie, Muriel and Beulah.
Those left to love and cherish wonderful memories include her husband of almost 61 years, Homer; two daughters, Darlene and husband, Scott Hutchinson, of Westerville and Nola and husband, Rex Farmer, of Fairdale; two sons, Gary and wife, Mary Nelson, of Newark, Ohio, and Dennis and wife, Vicky Nelson, of Centerburg, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Scott Hutchinson and wife, Kelly, Debbie Showalter and husband, Todd, Jessica Perone and husband, Johnny, Pamela Farmer, Andy and wife, Shana, Melodie, Luke and Isaac Nelson; eight great-grandchildren, Ethan, Meghan and Emma Hutchinson, Austin and Andrea Showalter, Treyvan, Kelsey and Jackson Nelson; and a sister, Lois Pritchard of Alcoa, Tenn.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Fairdale Freewill Baptist Church with her grandson, Scott Hutchinson, Pastor Dean Adams and former pastors Daniel Legg and Bobby Carter officiating.
Pallbearers will be trustees and deacons of the church, Randy Honaker, Ted Hamb, Bob Bower, Richard Browning, Wallace Maynard and Bob Cole.
The family will receive friends one hour before service at the church.
Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley.

He was born June 2, 1932, in Beckley. He was the son of Richard Hudson Patterson and Margaret Ann Bair Patterson. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1950 and attended classes at Beckley College.
Ray was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy (Ewing) Patterson; and brothers, Carl and Bill Cook.
He is survived by his wife, Erma (Roseblock) Patterson; sister, Margaret Bostic of Pennsylvania; son, Richard A. Patterson, daughter-in-law, Suzanna (Ash) Patterson, and grandsons, Raymond L. Patterson, age 13, and Eli R. Patterson, age 3, of Sistersville; and stepdaughters, Carol Torstrom of Lebanon, Ore., Edith Deke of Rockwall, Texas, and Sherrie Phillips of Concho, Ariz.
Many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cou-sins and close loving friends also survive Mr. Patterson.
Mr. Patterson was employed by the West Virginia Department of Transportation for over 40 years. After retiring, Ray continued to work as a consultant for several engineering firms.
Mr. Patterson was a district cooperator with the Upper Ohio Soil Conservation District. He was an avid gardener and cultivated exotic orchids. He was very active in managing and operating Red Sky Farm, where he and his son, Rick, produced beef cattle and organic fruit.
Ray loved fishing with his two grandsons, Raymond and Eli, and his favorite dog, Buddy. He was an outdoorsman who respected and was fascinated with the beauty and wonder of nature.
Mr. Patterson was a member of the Calloway Heights Baptist Church, where he and his wife Erma attended regularly.
Ray was very supportive and active with a small group of USMC Beirut veterans who considered him a family member.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Rev. Bill Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may gather with family from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Janet Moore Satterfield
WINFIELD — Janet Moore Satterfield, 47, of Winfield, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2007, at Charleston Area Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born April 4, 1959, in Barnesville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Vernon and Norma Moore of Zanesville, Ohio.
She graduated from Philo High School in Ohio in 1977, and obtain-ed a Bachelor of Science in for-ensics from Ohio University in Athens in 1981. She graduated from the West Virginia State Police Ac-ademy and worked as a chemist in the State Police Crime Lab where she met her husband and soon after relocated to Grandview. Janet worked at Prince Medical Lab and REIC Lab and taught school in Raleigh County. After relocating to Winfield, she worked at BayerCropScience lab in Institute and was presently teaching science at Hanna High School in Mason County.
She was a member of Central Trinity Methodist Church in Zanesville.
Janet loved sports and participating in her son’s band and soccer boosters.
She is survived by her loving husband Steve, and her sons, Jacob and Ryan, both at home.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sisters, Carol (Daniel) Nelson of Summerfield, N.C., Judy (Thomas) Welsh of Fredericksburg, Va., and Joyce (Douglas) Murphy of Hebron, Ohio; her father and mother-in-law, Buck and Rose Satterfield of St. Albans; sisters-in-law, Beth (Terry) Tate and Joni Satterfield of Charleston; five nephews, eight nieces, three great-nephews and two great-nieces.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel, 3624 Winfield Road, Winfield. The Rev. Ravi Isaiah will be officiating. Friends may call beginning at 11 a.m. Monday.

Estil R. Taylor
PETERSTOWN — On Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, Estil R. Taylor, 82, of Peterstown “left this old world” and was tenderly carried by the angels to his heavenly home.
Estil was born March 5, 1924, the son of the late Lannie and Ollie Barnhart Taylor, who both passed away when he was only eight months old. He was preceded in death by his caring foster parents, A.Y. and Laura Mitchell Dowdy; son-in-law, Ronald Dalton; and a sister.
Estil was educated in Monroe County and served in the U.S. Army as a marksman in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was employed with Celanese Corp. for 40 years as a controller and retired in 1986. He was a past member of the American Legion of Ronceverte, IOOF No. 362 Lodge of Lindside for 50 years and was a past noble grand. He was a member of Rock Camp Baptist Church for over 50 years. Estil enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. He was a dedicated WVU, ECU and Atlanta Braves fan, and loved watching NASCAR with his daughter, Nancy. Above all else his family was the most important thing in his life.
Estil is survived by his wife of 58 years, Irma Wickline Taylor; two daughters, Nancy Taylor Dalton of Peterstown and Kathy Taylor White and husband, David, of Greenville, N.C.; grandchildren, Chris and wife, Tiffany Dalton, and Melanie Dalton and fiance, Todd Keffer, all of Peterstown, and Justin Taylor White and Laura Elizabeth White, both of Greenville, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Jena Alise Dalton, Estella Mazzy-Rae Keffer and baby boy due in March; and an aunt, Mildred Taylor of Willow Grove, Pa.
Service will be 2 p.m. today at Wickline Funeral Home, Lindside, with Pastors Paul Broyles and Jack Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in Peterstown cemetery.

Mary Kathleen Fritz Meadows, 86, of Grandview, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at her home with loved ones surrounding her.
Born May 17, 1917, at MacDonald, she was the daughter of the late Everette and Ethel Burnette Fritz.
Mrs. Meadows was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved God and was of the Baptist faith. She last worked in housekeeping for a local health care facility and was a homemaker.
She loved flowers and animals, especially her cats. She enjoyed crafts, painting, crocheting, knitting, being outdoors and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John K. Meadows; four brothers, William E. Fritz, Wilbur D. Fritz, Marion B. Fritz and an infant brother; a grandson, Jeffery W. Meadows; a great-grandson, Joseph E. Britt; a son-in-law, Bobby Joe Cunningham; and her beloved mother, Ethel Fritz.
She will be lovingly remembered by her five children, Janet L. Cunningham of Estill Springs, Tenn., David L. Meadows and wife, Andrea, of Clayton, N.C., Carl M. Meadows and wife, Carol, of Flat Top, Carol Meadows of Grandview and Jean Carper and husband, Roy, of Grandview; two brothers, Kenneth Fritz of Daniels and Lee Feazell of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Evelyn Wills of Beckley; 10 grandchildren, Rebecca L. Pauline Morton Nichols
Pauline Morton Nichols, 86, of Orchard Avenue, Beckley, departed this life for her heavenly home Tuesday, June 10, 2003, after a short illness.
Born Oct. 1, 1916, at Lizemores, she was the daughter of the late Dr. U.G. and Alice Baker Morton.
Mrs. Nichols spent her childhood at Lizemores, was a resident of Gauley Bridge for a number of years and had been a resident of Beckley for the past 30 years. She was a member of Jones Memorial Baptist Church, Beckley.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil "Nick" Nichols in 1995.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include two daughters, Kay Huffman and her husband, Eddie, of St. Albans and Lyn Nichols of Beckley; a son, U.G. Nichols and his wife, Barbara, of Thomas River, N.J.; six grandchildren, Kathy, Alyce, Tim, Gary, Grant and Michael; 12 great-grandchildren, John, Kristi, Jon, Brendan, Travis, Mark, Tara, Alex, Brendon, Shane, Brock and Bruce; two great-great-grandchildren, Maddie and Peyton; and several nieces and nephews.
