SABINE - Thelma Vaught Tilley, 73, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at her home following a long illness.
Born March 21, 1927, in Hiawatha, she was the daughter of the late Clifton Reed and Georgie Shouse Vaught.
Mrs. Tilley was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Tilley; two brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Clifford Eugene Tilley Sr. of Lancaster, Kan., Terry L. Tilley of Sabine and Timothy W. Tilley of Glen Fork; two sisters, Violet Patton of New Lebanon, Ohio, and Myrtle Cooke of Pineville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cooke cemetery, Jesse, with the Rev. Darrell Stapleton officiating.
BENTREE - Isaac L. West, 72, of Nicholas County, died Sunday, June 4, 2000.

Clarence Yon
FAYETTEVILLE - Clarence Yon, 76, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, in Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, following a brief illness.
Born Oct. 4, 1923, at Bramwell, he was the son of the late Bany Yon and Malvina Perldo Yon.
Mr. Yon was a retired banker, having 38 years of service from Fayette County National Bank, Fayetteville.
He was a member of Fayetteville United Methodist Church, and the American Legion, LaFayette Post 149, Fayetteville, and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clemmie Yon; and a sister, Annie D'Agostino.
Survivors include a sister, Lita Yon Eskew and her husband, Ken Sr., of Fayetteville; two nieces, Denise Scalph of Fayetteville and Teresa Gentry of Bumpass, Va.; a nephew, Ken Eskew Jr. of Alexandria, Va.; and many nieces and nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews, as well as many friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fayetteville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gordon Humphreys officiating. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post No. 3110.
Family and friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville.

Thelma L. Bowling
Thelma Lena Holliday Bowling, 95, of Beaver, died at 10:20 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2000, at the Raleigh Center, Daniels, following a long illness.
Born March 17, 1905, in Lookout, she was the daughter of the late David and Maude Haynes Holliday.
Mrs. Bowling was a member of Beaver Baptist Church and was a lifelong resident of Bea-ver. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Bowling; a grandson, Neal Barbour; five brothers, Obie, Bonnie, Bernard, David and Leonard Holliday; and three sisters, Evelyn Holliday, Maymie Baumgardner and Cleo Reed.
Survivors include a son, Forrest Bowling of Lebanon, Mo.; three daughters, Gloria Coffey of Davis, Calif., Carolyn Kelley of Beckley and Donna Davis and her husband, James, of Daniels; a sister, Nadine Sowder of Springfield, Ohio; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Graveside rites and burial will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, with the Rev. Ronald George officiating.

Elizabeth M. Clay
Elizabeth Mason Clay, 89, of Beckley, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, in a local hospital after a long illness.
Born Feb. 15, 1911, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Omer Mason and Blanche Mason Tomblin.
Mrs. Clay was a seamstress and worked for Beckley Hardware, White House Interiors, Ballangee Furniture and The Curtain Shop. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Beckley, and a member and secretary of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Mrs. Clay was an avid bowler, champion womenıs bowler in West Virginia and bowled several 300 games during her career. She was a lifelong resident of Raleigh County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Clay; a son, Richard Clay; two brothers, William and John Mason; and two sisters, Ila Mae Sorrels and Frances Goins.
Survivors include a daughter, Marjorie E. "Patty" Henderson of Beckley; two sisters, Sybil Beasley of North Carolina and Charlotte Gunter and her husband, Nolan, of Beckley; two grandsons, Charles "Chuck" Henderson and Jeff Henderson; two great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters and a great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with Dr. David Carrico officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Irene Fore
Irene Fore, 87, of 124 Sour St., Beckley, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Hilltop Health Care Center following a long illness.
Born Aug. 14, 1912, in Washington, D.C., she was a daughter of the late Luther "Perk" Nowlin and Mary Elizabeth Mosley Nowlin.
Mrs. Fore was a chef for C.L. Crawford Co., Montclair, N.J., and a member of Hill Grove Baptist Church, Derryhale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Fore, in 1980; a grandson, George Brown, in 1995; an aunt, Dorothy Baker, in February 2000; and a granddaughter, Carolyn Gray.
Survivors include a son, James Brown and his wife, Ruth, of Washington; two daughters, Dorothy Allen of Mount Hope and Evelyn Brooks of Cleveland; three sisters, Rosetta Dean of Upper Marlboro, Md., Gertrude Nowlin of Columbus, Ohio, and Kathryn Kenney of Mount Hope; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 36 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Second Baptist Church, Beckley, with the Revs. Ronald Dyer, Calvin Moore Jr. and Onnie Cook, and Bishop John Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Elmer D. Johnson
LEWISBURG - Elmer Dwain Johnson, 78, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at Allegheny Regional Hospital, Low Moor, Va.
Born March 12, 1922, in Trout, he was a son of the late Samuel and Melissa Sizemore Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a veteran of World War II. He was formerly employed by Motor Car Supply and was retired from Fisher Auto Parts.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack Johnson, Darius Johnson and Everette Gladwell; and three sisters, Glenna Smith, Grace Rudd and Lola Massie.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Armella A. Sanders Johnson; a daughter, Margie L. Sheppard and her husband, Roger, of Lewisburg; a son, Robert D. Johnson and his wife, Sarah, of Poquoson, Va.; a sister, Barbara Whitcomb of Lewisburg; three brothers, Darrell Johnson of Ellicott City, Md., Sam Johnson of Severn, Md., and Lacy Johnson of Frankford; four grandchildren, Jeff Sheppard and his wife, Melanie, of White Sulphur Springs, Scott Sheppard and his wife, Kelly, of Frankford, Brian Sheppard and his wife, Marsha, of Auto and Arinn Johnson of Poquoson; six great-grandchildren, Tierra, Brett, Garrett, Brodey, Cortland and Dwain Sheppard.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Leroy Crane officiating. Entombment will follow at Rosewood Mausoleum, Lewisburg.

Roger R. Johnson
MEADOW BRIDGE - Roger R. Johnson, 80, formerly of Lansing, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at Pine Lodge Health Care Center, Beckley, following a short illness.
Born April 6, 1920, in Lansing, he was a son of the late George Lewis and Blanche Arnold Johnson.
A 40-year resident of Meadow Bridge, Mr. Johnson was a member of the UMWA and a retired coal miner with 44 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mandy Frances Johnson, Sept. 29, 1991; a son, Roger Dale Johnson; a sister and five brothers.
Survivors include three daughters, Dixie Bennett of Rainelle, Darline McClung of Quinwood and Eve Bumgarner of Meadow Bridge; two sons, Robert Dean Jones of White Sulphur Springs and Davie Lewis Johnson of Meadow Bridge; four sisters; three brothers; six grandchildren, Yvonne Bennett, Brandy Johnson, Catherine McClung, Mat-thew McClung, Roberta Canaday and Candy Hanna; and four great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held, and there will be no visitation.
