Rodney B. Adkins
KEYROCK - Rodney B. Adkins, 67, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, following a short illness.
Born Sept. 11, 1932, in Keyrock, he was the son of the late Mose and Ida Farley Adkins.
Mr. Adkins was in the timber business and a lifelong resident of Wyoming County.
Survivors include three daughters, Rose Adkins and Brenda Adkins, both of Keyrock, and Ila Adkins of Pineville; four sons, David, Rodney and Junior Adkins, all of Keyrock, and Roger Buck Adkins of Turkey Creek; three sisters, Ruby Shumate, Arlene Shumate and Dorothy Adkins; five brothers, Bobby Joe Adkins, Bud Adkins, Mose Junior Adkins, Jimmy Adkins and Herb Adkins; and five grandchildren, Latosha Borders, Marvin Junior Borders, Clinton Adkins, Timmy Adkins and Coty Adkins.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at Sweet Divine Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Privette cemetery, Keyrock.
Friends may call two hours before services today at the church.
PINEVILLE - Virginia C. Bazzie, 82, died Wednesday, March 3, 2000, at her home.
Born March 29, 1917, in Pineville, she was the daughter of the late J. Carl and Fonna Musick Cook.
Mrs. Bazzie was a homemaker, a charter member of Cook Memorial Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Wyoming County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amerigo Bazzie; and two brothers, Quinton and Thomas Cook.
Survivors include a son, Mike Bazzie and his wife, Virginia M., of Pineville; a daughter, Sherry Adams and her husband, Joseph, of Beltsville, Md.; a sister, Beulah Kerner of Baltimore; two brothers, David Cook and his wife, Elizabeth, of North Carolina and Music Cook of Florida; five grandchildren, Michael Kenneth "Kenny" Bazzie, Hilary J. Adams, Rosalynd L. Jensen and her husband, Richard, Meredith V. Adams and Christopher L. Bazzie; and special friends who helped care for her, Frank Davis, Wally Brannon, Bob and Bill Adams.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Clay Phillips officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Princeton.

CLEVELAND - James Elden Belcher, 64, formerly of Glen Rogers, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in a Cleveland hospital following a sudden illness.
Born Feb. 16, 1936, in Glen Rogers, he was a son of the late Elden Belcher and Chloe Nester Belcher.
Mr. Belcher was employed by Waco International of Cleveland for more than 40 years. He spent his childhood in Wyoming County and had been a resident of Cleveland for more than 40 years.
He was an avid golfer in his leisure time.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Belcher of Elkhorn City, Ky.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Oszvart Belcher; two brothers, Johnny Belcher and his wife, Nancy, and Joe Belcher and his wife, Veronica, all of Glen Rogers; and six sisters, June Tolor and her husband, Jim, of Silver Spring, Md., Jean Snuffer of Glen View, Judy Cordell and her husband, Tim, of Midland, N.C., Janella Bailey and her husband, Mike, of Glen Fork, Janis Hope Miller and her husband, Gary, of Glen White and Joanne Hutsenpillar of Union Hall, Va.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Kenneth Parent officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

James 'Ted' Brown
UNION - James K. "Ted" Brown, 81, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Roanoke (Va.) Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
Born July 17, 1918, in Salt Sulphur Springs, he was the son of the late Clarence M. and Nina Mae Broyles Brown.
Mr. Brown was a farmer and woodworker, having retired from Brown's Exxon which he operated for 23 years, previous to which he was in the timber business. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, where he served for many years as secretary and treasurer.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Howard Brown; and a sister, Pauline Brown.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Eula J. Caldwell Brown; two sons, Jerry and his wife, Sharon, of Union and Marvin "Jim" and his wife, Margaret, of Taylors, S.C.; two daughters, Marlene Downey and Janetta McPeak and her husband, Cody, all of Union; three brothers, Kenneth, Ernest and Carl Brown, all of Union; three sisters, Evelyn Wise of Florida, Anna Mae Taylor of Union and Kathileen Wickline of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John's United Methodist Church, Salt Sulphur Springs, with the Revs. Charles and Sharon Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mable E. Carter
RUPERT - Mable Elizabeth Carter, 78, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a long illness.
Born Oct. 6, 1921, in Alderson, she was the daughter of the late George Lewis and Bessie Faulkiner Eggleston.
Mrs. Carter had been a resident of Heartland of Rainelle, was a member of Hines Gospel Tabernacle, the AARP and Greenbrier Valley Medical Center Seniors Association, and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Marshall Carter; two sisters, Eunice "Peggy" Eggleston and Carmen Meadows; and two brothers, Eldridge Eggleston and Olvin Eggleston.
Survivors include two sons, James Melburn Carter of Rupert and Roger Lee Carter of Roanoke, Va.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Wayne Cozart
NEBO - Wayne Cozart, 88, formerly of Minden, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Braxton County Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
Born Feb. 28, 1912, in Glen Rogers, he was the son of the late Samuel Cozart and Ida Snuffer.
Mr. Cozart was a coal miner, a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II, and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mollie Jane Cozart; and four brothers, Quincy, Cleve, Carlos and Riece Cozart.
Survivors include three daughters, Doris Dickens and her husband, Paul, of Nebo, Shirley Tanner and her husband, Arnold, of Duck and Violet Edwards of Murphys, Calif.; a sister, Orpha Lafferty of Fairdale; a brother, Eugene Cozart of Beckley; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Bill Menefee officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Tyler E. Crawford
Tyler Eugene Crawford, infant son of Timmy and Shauna Honaker Crawford of Arnett, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Bob Crawford.
Other survivors include his half sister, Ronica Williams of Beckley; his grandparents, Robbie and Donna Clendenin Crawford of Stickney, Joetta White of Crab Orchard and Vernon Honaker of Arnett; his great-grandparents, Alfred and Joy Clendenin of Rock Creek, Anna Crawford of Apoka, Fla., and Joe R. Wills and Lou V. Honaker, both of Arnett; an aunt; and five uncles.
Graveside services and burial will be 1:30 p.m. today at Clendenin-Persinger cemetery, Rock Creek, with the Rev. J.D. Pettry officiating.
There will be no visitation.
