Ernest H. Mitchell, 94, of McRoss, died Friday, Oct. 15, in a Fairlea hospital following a long illness.
He was born June, 15, 1905, in Clifftop, and was the son of the late George and Margaret Smith Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell was a retired band mill foreman for Meadow River Lumber Co., and was a member of the McRoss Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah "Bood" Puckett Mitchell, four brothers, Bill, Russell, Ray and Everette Mitchell; and two sisters, Edna Hoke and Lola Puckett.
Survivors include one daughter, Adabelle Hylton Fleshman and her husband Norman of Dawson; a granddaughter, Rhnea Hylton of Jumping Branch and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m. at Smathers Funeral Chapel with Rev. Houston Boothe and Rev. Joey Fields. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial cemetery at Clintonville.
Friends may call today between 6 and 8 p.m., at Smathers Funeral Chapel in Rainelle.

Nancy E. Sneed
RAVENCLIFF Nancy E. Sneed, 80, entered into her new life Saturday, Oct. 16, in a Beckley hospital.
Born Dec. 27, 1918, in Cabin Creek, she was the daughter of the late Stynax and Florence Meadows Mooney.
Mrs. Sneed was a loving mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church of Sabine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Jesse D. Sneed, a daughter, Mary Whitaker, and two sons, Jesse D. Sneed, Jr., and David Ray Sneed.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Ford and her husband, Donald of Ravencliff, Sue Dunford and her husband, Jimmy Lee of Crab Orchard; four sons, Kenneth Sneed and his wife, Frances of Triangle, Va., Jimmy Sneed and his wife Alma of McGraws, Paul Sneed and his wife, Judy of Crab Orchard, Michael Sneed and his wife Misty of Germany; one sister, Josie Wilson, of Besoco; 23 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren and one great, greatgrandchild.
Services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Sunset Memorial park Mausoleum in Beckley with the Rev. Ronald Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., today at Tankersley Funeral Home in Mullens.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends.
Thelda Jackson Weeks
Mrs. Thelda Jackson Weeks, 79, of Manassas, Va., formerly of Hinton and Beckley, died at 2:11 a.m., Friday, October 15, 1999, in a Monassas, Va. hospital following a long illness.
Born Nov. 7, 1919, in Grantsville, she was a daughter of the late Henry Edward and Maude Smith Jackson, and had lived most of her life in Hinton.
Mrs. Weeks was a 20year employee of the Hinton Daily News and was a member of the Hinton First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.K. Weeks, and a brother, William Miller Jackson.
Mrs. Weeks is survived by one sister, Mrs. Charlotte Graves of Manassas, a sisterinlaw, Hallie Jackson of Charleston, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton, with Pastor Ken Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Burial Park at Hinton.
Friends may call at the funeral parlor from 11 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday.

Mattie Dana Price Bragg, 87, of 120 Hibbs Lane, Daniels, died 6:35 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at her home following a long illness.
Born March 26, 1912, at Lively, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie St. Clair Price and Sena Lively Price.
Mrs. Bragg was a homemaker and a former cook for Glen Leigh Elementary School at Glen Morgan.
She was a member of the Tilden Community Church and had lived most of her adult life on Sullivan Road.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lettis Palmer Bragg; a daughter, Betty Lee Bragg Bare; a grandson, Stephen Richard Bare; six brothers, Lewis, Elbert, Troy, Roy, Homer and Lonnie Price; and two sisters, Effie Bourne and Freida Saye.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Lou Ward and her husband, Kenneth E., of 120 Hibbs Lane, Daniels; a brother, Leonard E. Price of Beckley; and a sister, Ethel Boling of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tilden Community Church with Pastor Edward Garten officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Mary E. Clements, 65, of Beckley, died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at a Beckley hospital following a long illness.
Born Sept. 13, 1934, at Tams, she was the daughter of Sarah Allen Wiley of Beckley and the late David Daniel Wiley.
Mrs. Clements was a retired librarian from the New York Public Library in Manhattan and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church in Tams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Clements, on Aug. 21, 1996; a son, Larry Wiley; and a brother, Harold T. Wiley.
Other survivors include four sons, Carlton Wiley and his wife, Francine, of Dunbar, James L. Broadnax and his wife, Christine, of New York, Anthony George Broadnax of Panama City, Fla., and Edward Warren Broadnax of Georgia; three daughters, Patricia Williams and her husband, Lamont, of Panama City, Fla., Shelia Wood and her husband, Sam, of Beckley, and Angela Johnson and her husband, Louis, of Pontiac, Mich.; two granddaughters who lived with her, Sharon Wilkins of Beckley and Sharee Broadnax of Beckley; a brother, David Daniel Wiley Jr. of Stamford, Conn.; two sisters, Queen Schoolfield of Beckley and Dorothy Henderson of Cincinnati, Ohio; 27 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rev. James R. Frazier
The Rev. James R. Frazier, 76, of Crab Orchard, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in a Beckley care center following a long illness.
Born May 3, 1923, at Hinton, he was the son of the late Arthur and Ora Mankin Frazier.
The Rev. Frazier was a retired coal miner having worked as a dust sampler for Eastern Associated Coal Co. at Kopperston for 32 years. He was a 1940 graduate of Hinton High School, attended classes at Appalachian Bible College, pastored the Glen View Independent Baptist Church for 19 years and helped organize and pastored the Lillyhaven Baptist Church in Wyoming County for seven years.
He was a member of the Lester Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 339th Quarter Master Tec 821. Among his many ribbons, medals and decorations were the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Award and European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon.
The Rev. Frazier served overseas in Normandy, France and Northern France, Ardennes, Belgium, Rhineland and Luxembourg.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Frazier.
Survivors include his wife, Norma G. Meador Frazier of Crab Orchard; two sons, Michael Frazier of Crab Orchard and Charles Hutchison of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a daughter, Susan M. Pack of Crab Orchard; two brothers, Robert Frazier of Shady Spring and Jack Frazier of Indian Mills; and two sisters, Frances Lilly of Crab Orchard and Amma Jean Lilly of Nimitz.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Revs. Charles Carver and Ronald Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, with military graveside services conducted by the Sophia-Midway VFW Post No. 4326.
