VICTOR -- Gladys Ellen Willis, 74, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999 in a Beckley hospital following a short illness.
Born June 25, 1924 at Gaymont Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ida Silva Neal.
Mrs. Willis was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Victor.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Mann, William, and Audie Neal.
Survivors include a son, Stacy Willis and his wife, Ramona of Oak Hill; a sister, Ada Hundley of Victor; and two grandchildren, Melissa Willis of Dublin, Va. and Douglas Willis of Oak Hill.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Chapel, Ansted. Burial will follow in Willis cemetery, Victor.

Hazel I. Brookman
PRINCETON - Hazel Irene Brookman, 92, of 506 Reynolds Ave., died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, in a Princeton hospital.
Born Nov. 23, 1906, in Glen Lyn, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Avie Saunders Hickman.
Mrs. Brookman was a former manager for Western Union and was a clerk in the dress department of G.C. Murphy Co.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Princeton, where she served in various circles and worked on several committees through the years.
Mrs. Brookman was a member and the oldest living past worthy matron of Princeton Chapter No. 53, Order of The Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Wayne Brookman; four brothers, Howard, Johnny, Harless and Roy C. Hickman; and a sister, Beulah Winfrey.
Survivors include her husband of 74 years, Milton Edwin Brookman; a son, Milton Edwin Brookman Jr. and his wife, Alice, of Bristol, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Janet Brookman of Florence, Ala.; three grandchildren, Ronnie Brookman of Bristol and Doug Brookman and Debbie Brookman Weaver, both of Florence; three great-grandchildren, Conner Brookman and Austin Weaver, both of Florence, and Amber Brookman of Bristol; two brothers, Eugene Hickman of Princeton and Ralph Hickman and his wife, Helen, of Beckley; two sisters, Evelyn Johnson and her husband, Art, of High Point, N.C., and Frances Martin and her husband, Earnest, of Mullens.
Services will be 11 a.m. Sarturday at George W. Seaver Funeral Home Chapel, Princeton, with the Rev. Gary Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Park cemetery.
Friends may call 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the Princeton Chapter No. 53, Order of The Eastern Star, will conduct memorial services at 7 p.m.
Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.

VICTOR - Lindy Ellen Chapman, 67, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, in an Oak Hill hospital following a short illness.
Born June 18, 1931, at Ansted, she was the daughter of the late Shirley and Zida Price Bartrum.
Mrs. Chapman was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, Victor. She had lived in Victor for the past 35 years and was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Chapman Walker of Spring Dale; three sons, Danny Chapman of Ansted and Jack Chapman and Michael Chapman, both of Victor; six sisters, Frances Adams of Victor, Rachael Skaggs of Ansted, Icie Conway of Dayton, Ohio, Zella Hoffman and Goldie Robinson, both of Daytona, Fla., and Rose Myles of Fort Orange, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Ansted, with the Rev. Keith Shumaker officiating. Burial will follow in McKinney Memorial cemetery, Victor.

Belva Cook
Belva Cook, 91, of Fairdale, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness.
Born Oct. 21,1907, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Millard F. and Lula Lusher White.
Mrs. Cook was a homemaker and a member of Glen Daniel Worship Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Byrd Cook; a daughter, Ruth Bone; three sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Louis Cook and his wife, Virginia, of Tipton, Iowa, and David Cook of Fairdale; two daughters, Helen McGinnis and her husband, Jack, of Oceana and Fern Wood and her husband, George, of Beckley; a sister, Mamie Wooley of St. Louis; a brother, Roy White of Leesburg, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Pastor Jerry Cantley officiating. Burial will follow in Cook Family cemetery, Pine Knob.

Jo Ann Grabosky
OAK HILL - Jo Ann Grabosky, 67, formerly of Minden, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, in a Fayetteville care center following a long illness.
Born Aug. 27, 1931, at Hilltop, she was the daughter of the late Rosario and Rachel Sumner Stuppio.
Mrs. Grabosky was a retired English teacher with 26 years of service in the Fayette County school system.
She was of the Baptist faith, a Girl Scout leader for Oak Hill Troop No. 123 and was district chairperson for several years. She was a 1949 graduate of Oak Hill High School, a graduate of West Virginia Tech, Class of 1970, and was an expert on Shakespeare and coached several regional English Bowl championship teams.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Rosario Stuppio Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Steve Grabosky; a daughter, Cathy Manis of Birmingham, Ala.; two sons, Stephen Grabosky of Scott Depot and Mike Grabosky of Hurricane; two sisters, Lula Cale of Hinton and Betty Linkous of Scarbro; two brothers, James Stuppio of Summersville and Robert Stuppio of Beckley; and six grandchildren, Daniel Grabosky and Jill Grabosky of South Charleston, Michael Grabosky and Kathryn Grabosky of Scott Depot and Samuel Grabosky and Laura Grabosky of Hurricane.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Bill Menefee officiating. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill.

NEW RICHMOND - Bernard W. Long, 79, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at his home following a long illness.
Born Nov. 12, 1919, at Rock, he was the son of the late Newton and Rebecca Jane Skeens Long.
Mr. Long was a retired coal miner and member of the UMWA. He was also a member of New Richmond Chapel.
He was preceded in death by six sisters, Della Arrington, Nellie Scott Hartsock, Stella Jollief, Sally Thornton, Alma Meekins and Ida Saddler.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Hampton Long; a sister, Hazel Thornton of Richmond, Va.; a stepdaughter, Jacqueline Osborne of New Richmond; a stepson, J.E. Lewallen of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Sunday at New Richmond Chapel with the Rev. Larry England officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

Rev. Oscar T. Moore Jr.
The Rev. Oscar Thomas Moore Jr., 56, formerly of Beckley, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, in a Nyack, N.Y., hospital.
Born Jan. 20, 1943, at Price Hill, he was the son of the Rev. O.T. Moore Sr. of Beckley and Marilyn Blackwell of Detroit.
After graduating from high school, Rev. Moore moved to New York City. He was employed by RCS in Manhattan from 1962 to 1980. He received a bacheloršs degree from the College of New Rochelle, New Rochelle, N.Y.
Other survivors include his wife, Doretha Ashlock-Moore; two sons, Thomas Fitzgerald Moore of Albany, N.Y., and Brandon Moore of New York City; three sisters, Loretta Coleman of Chicago, Synester Willis of Temple Hills, Md., and Patricia Saunders of Greenbelt, Md.; his stepmother, Cleola Moore of Beckley; his stepfather, James Blackwell of Detroit; two stepbrothers, John and Ronald Boyden, both of Beckley; two aunts, Betty Dandridge of Bronx, N.Y., and Juvetta Bell of Chicago; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; and other relatives and caring friends.
Services were 10 a.m. Monday, April 19, at First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, Nyack, N.Y.
