MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Arvella Ruth McNamee Ambrose, 88, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born Jan. 26, 1910, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Francis Marion McNamee and Emma C. Miller McNamee Morgret.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Ambrose Sr., in 1975.
She was a 1926 graduate of Bath District High School.
She worked at Perfection Garment Co.. She later was a manager at Toll House Confectionery and H&J Market.
She had worked election polls and was a member of the Berkeley County Republican Club.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and Fidelis Sunday School Class.
She is survived by one daughter, Jean A. Zombro of Martinsburg, with whom she resided; two sons, Harold E. Ambrose Jr. of Martinsburg and Jack T. Ambrose of Winchester, Va.; two brothers, C. Abner Morgret of Rockville, Md., and Charles O. Morgret of Holmes Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 220 W. Burke St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Albert L. Clipp will officiate. Burial will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Sylvia M. Miller
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Sylvia Madeline Miller, 86, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at Canterbury of Shepherdstown, W.Va.
Born Sept. 30, 1911, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ethel Giraultt Gantt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Miller, in 1981.
In earlier years, she was employed by Perfection Garment Co.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by two sisters, Beulah Butts and Hazel Kackley, both of Martinsburg; one stepsister, Ellen Myers of Martinsburg; and two stepbrothers, Woody Butts of Martinsburg and Sam Gantt of New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.
Private graveside services were held Saturday, Sept. 12, at Mountainside Tabernacle cemetery, Martinsburg. The Rev. William Hoard officiated.

Daniel E. Hargett
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Daniel Earl Hargett, 44, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at his home.
Born April 7, 1954, in Baltimore, he was the son of Charles Earl Hargett Sr. of Berkeley Springs and the late Dolores Jane Dornon Hargett.
He was a carpenter.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a social member of Risinger-Stotler VFW Post 4019, Berkeley Springs.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Gloria Ann Phillips Hargett of Baltimore; his stepmother, Mary Jane "Jeannie" Hargett of Berkeley Springs; four stepdaughters, Karen Lloyd, Tammy Weitzel, Tina Weitzel and Tabitha Johnson, all of Baltimore; one stepson, Ronald Ladd of Baltimore; three sisters, Cynthia Ann Greg, Debra A. Hargett-Messner and Cathy Lynn Hargett, all of Berkeley Springs; four brothers, Robert E. Hargett of Warfordsburg, Pa., Steven R. Stone, Michael J. Stone and Charles E. Hargett Jr., all of Berkeley Springs; nine stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandson; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at their home in Berkeley Springs Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m.

Irvin E. Silver
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Irvin Edward Silver, 74, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Hospital, Baltimore.
Born Feb. 1, 1924, in Sleepy Creek, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ralph Wood and Janetta Eckard Silver.
He attended Grape Hill School, Morgan County, W.Va.
He worked with the Maintenance of Way on the B&O Railroad, Hancock. He retired as maintenance foreman from U.S. Silica, Berkeley Springs, in 1986.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served with Co. A., 1584th Service Unit, Camp Atterbury, Ind., from 1943 to 1944, and was honorably discharged as a private.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs.
He was a member of Webster B. Harrison American Legion Post 26, Hancock.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Jane Henry Silver; one daughter, Cathy Roland of Williamsport; two sons, Irvin E. "Gene" Silver of Chambersburg, Pa., and Gary Silver of Warfordsburg, Pa.; four sisters, Charlotte Bohrer of Hedgesville, W.Va., Lucille McJilton and Connie Myers, both of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Phyllis Tichnell of Kingwood, W.Va.; two brothers, George Silver of Berkeley Springs and Roger Silver of Inwood, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Janetta Silver; and two brothers, Steven Silver and Chester Silver.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 110 S. Green St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Owen B. Womack will officiate. Burial will be in Spohrs Crossroads cemetery, Morgan County, W.Va.
The family will receive friends at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday. The funeral home will be open today from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Bonnie J. Shaw
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Bonnie J. Shaw, 48, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born Feb. 9, 1950, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Mary Jane Snead Nicholls and stepdaughter of Malcolm B. Nicholls Jr. of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and daughter of the Rev. Ballard Dorsee and stepdaughter of Roberta Dorsee of Southport, Conn.
She was a 1969 graduate of Lincoln Academy, Philadelphia. She attended Hagerstown Community College.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two daughters, Danielle Melissa Shaw of Martinsburg and Jessie Ann Oakes of Springfield, Va.; two sisters, Maryanna Wentworth of Newington, Conn., and Jennifer Elmann of Killingworth, Conn.; one brother, Thomas E. Dorsee of Higganum, Conn.; three grandchildren; one niece; and three nephews.

Donald E. Voorhees Jr.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Donald Elmer Voorhees Jr., 55, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born April 10, 1943, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Donald Elmer Voorhees Sr. and Emma Catherine Sperow Voorhees.
He was a veteran of the U.S. National Guard.
He was a member of Berkeley Post 14 American Legion and Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW.
He is survived by two stepdaughters, Paula Burker of Martinsburg and Barbara Ogden of Jacksonville, Fla.; one stepson, Robbie Johnson of Martinsburg; one stepbrother, Edgar Linton of Inwood, W.Va.; and two half sisters, Margaret Baumhauer and Patricia Voorhees, both of Philadelphia.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Falling Waters Presbyterian cemetery, Spring Mills, W.Va. The Rev. Robert S. Hill will officiate.

Margaret A. Skelly
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Margaret A. Skelly, 77, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at her home.
Born June 22, 1921, in Media, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Anna Kennedy Keeney.
She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Inwood, W.Va., and a member of Catholic Daughters.
She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Berkeley County Schools' PASS program.
She is survived by her husband, John J. "Jack" Skelly, whom she married on Sept. 27, 1941; three daughters, Margaret Ann Hensell and Mary Alice Bowers, both of Martinsburg, and Patricia Ann Wilkes of Gerrardstown, W.Va.; one son, Joseph A. Skelly of Martinsburg; one sister, Alice T. Manley of Springfield, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, John J. Skelly Jr.; and one brother, Joseph J. Keeney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church, Inwood. The Rev. Brian Shoda will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., where a vigil service will be at 8 p.m.
The family will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home to go to the church.
