BOLIVAR, W.Va. - Ellen Marie Harding, 74, of 158 Potomac Terrace, died Friday, July 31, 1998, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Feb. 11, 1924, in Westmoreland County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Watson and Pearl McIntyre Storey.
She was a retired teacher with the school systems in Lynch, Ky., and Greenville, Tenn.
She was a member of Bolivar United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Adult Sunday School class and United Methodist Women.
She was a member of Bolivar Senior Citizens; Women of Moose Chapter 660; and Ladies Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1136, both of Brunswick, Md.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara S. Allen of Dalton, Ga.; a brother, Richard Storey of Lexington, Ky.; two grandsons, Vincent Rowland and Bryan Rowland, both of Dalton; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Emily Disney; and a brother, Clyde Storey.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The Rev. Jim Hamrick will officiate.
The family will receive friends Sunday two hours prior to services at the funeral home.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Gregory L. Harper, 41, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, August 1, 1998, at City Hospital.
Born July 23, 1957, in Martinsburg, he was the son of Anna Clark Harper Jacobs and the late Clarence Harper.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Gregory L. Harper Jr. of Martinsburg; five sisters, Shannon C. Jacobs, Phyllis Clark, Kimberly K. Sutphin, Sabrina S. Lapole and Sonia Jacobs, all of Martinsburg; seven brothers, Clarence E. Harper Jr., Thomas A. Harper, Michael L. Harper, Robert J. Harper, Timothy S. Harper, and Shawn Harper, all of Martinsburg and Barry C. Harper of Baltimore; one granddaughter; four stepgrandchildren; and a close friend, Debra K. Riggs.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Harper.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by Newton D. Baker Post 896 V.F.W.; and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Elsie V. Hovermale
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Elsie Viola Hovermale, 89, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, August 1, 1998, at Valley View Nursing Home, Berkeley Springs.
Born August 7, 1908, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Homer and Mazy F. Bohrer Hovermale.
She attended Highland School.
She worked as a looper at Interwoven Hosiery Mill, Berkeley Springs, during the mid 1950s. She then worked as a cook at Cacapon State Park until her retirement in the mid 1960's. She had been a homemaker in recent years.
She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church, Morgan County.
She is survived by four daughters, Janie H. Sirbaugh and Mamie I. Stotler, both of Berkeley Springs, Mazie L. Orndorff of Winchester, Va. and Connie L. French of Hancock; two sons, Roy B. Hovermale and Carl L. Hovermale, both of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Eloise Carbaugh of Chambersburg, Pa. and Peggy Cohill of Madeira Beach, Fla.; one brother, Luther Hovermale of Berkeley Springs; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, an infant son and Melvin T. Hovermale; one granddaughter, Theresa Jo Hovermale Ferguson; two sisters, Virginia Rankin and May Almon; and five brothers, Roy Hovermale, Irvin Hovermale, Chester Hovermale, Paul Hovermale and Fred Hovermale.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Highland United Methodist Church, Highland Ridge, Morgan County, W.Va. The Rev. Henry L. Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Ridge cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union Street, Berkeley Springs; and Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church. The funeral home will be open Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the convenience of friends.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Walter Charles "Casey" Hensley, 74, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, July 31, 1998, at his home.
Born Sept. 16, 1923, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Edgar and Rosalie Morris Hensley.
He attended Hancock public schools.
He worked for Hixon's Hardware in Hancock, until his retirement in 1987.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a social member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60; and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1483, both in Berkeley Springs.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Edna Virginia Cain Bishop Hensley; three daughters, Sue Shelton of Georgia, Vicky Mines and Brenda Wiseman, both of Lewisburg, W.Va.; one son, Jody Hensley of New Jersey; three stepdaughters, Catherine V. Dawson and Mary L. Perry, both of Berkeley Springs and Madeline Perry of Chambersburg, Pa.; three sisters, Dora Mazingo, Nora Foltz and Maggie King, all of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; 17 stepgrandchildren; 25 step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Barbara J. Peck; one stepson, Frank A. Bishop; three sisters, Mary Lee Breeden, Annie Buckler and Bertha Hensley; one brother, Albert Hensley and two stepgrandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at noon at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Hennis H. Fox will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church cemetery, Berkeley Springs.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Chad Andrew Nine, 15, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998.
Born March 27, 1983, he was the son of Steven M. Nine and Cynthia Miller Nine, both of Martinsburg.
He would have been a sophomore at Martinsburg High School this year.
He attended Hedgesville United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Steven M. Nine Jr. of Martinsburg; grandparents, Ruby and Raymond Nine, Charles and Darlene Miller, all of Martinsburg, and Mabel DeWitt of Pennsylvania; great-grandparents, Edna and Francis Austin of Grafton, W.Va., and Ruth Miller of Hedgesville, W.Va.; and one nephew.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. Terri S. Cofiell will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

Woodrow W. VanMetre
INWOOD, W.Va. - Woodrow Wilson VanMetre, 85, of Inwood, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Virginia.
Born Oct. 28, 1912, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Fred L. and Laura Rinehart VanMetre.
He retired from the B&O Railroad as a blacksmith in 1977.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church for more than 60 years.
He also was a member of No. 1 Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Walker VanMetre, whom he married Dec. 26, 1934; one daughter, Norma J. Coe of Inwood; one granddaughter, Janet Coe of Manchester, Conn.; one aunt, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lemen and Rose Lee Walker; and three brothers, Frederick VanMetre, James F. VanMetre and Douglas R. VanMetre.
Services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. James D. Riley will officiate. Private burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
