FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - John M. McClanathan Jr., 47, of Falling Waters, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at his home.
Born Feb. 14, 1951, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of John M. and Rita Anderson McClanathan Sr. of Falling Waters.
He was a 1969 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
He was employed by Pinkerton Security. He previously was employed by the former H.L. Mills Service Station.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of Eagles Club.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Kathy Hendershot of Falling Waters; one brother, Jay McClanathan of Falling Waters; and one niece, Kylsi McClanathan.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. John E. Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Bonnie Gail Hawkins, 40, of Harpers Ferry, died Thursday, July 9, 1998, at her home.
Born Dec. 12, 1957, in Ranson, W.Va., she was the daughter of Alice Elizabeth Beamer Penwell of Harpers Ferry and the late Nelson Woodrow Penwell.
She was a Methodist.
She was a homemaker.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Leonard M. Hawkins; her former husband, Jerry L. Harder; a daughter, Tera L. Harder of Harpers Ferry; a son, Jerry L. Harder Jr. of Harpers Ferry; a brother, Anthony Penwell of Harpers Ferry; a half brother, Jerry Beamer of Harpers Ferry; and two grandchildren.
Services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home. Pastor Harold L. "Porky" Jones Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Murrill Hill cemetery, Harpers Ferry.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - John William Ambrose Jr., 46, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, July 9, 1998, at his home.
Born Nov. 24, 1951, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of John William Ambrose and Joyce Miller Caton, both of Martinsburg.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by four sisters, Bonnie Harp of Williamsport, Connie Detrow and Rhonda Caton, both of Martinsburg, and Cathy Caton of Falling Waters, W.Va.; and two brothers, Daniel Caton and Robert Caton, both of Martinsburg.
Graveside services will be today at 1 p.m. at Rosedale cemetery. The Rev. William C. Crowe will officiate. Military graveside services will be conducted by Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Kirsten Marie Kilmer, infant daughter of Kevin K. Kilmer and Melanie Locke, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, July 9, 1998, at West Virginia University Hospital, Morgantown.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandfather, Thomas Allen Locke of Winchester, Va.; maternal grandmother, Ina Patterson of Martinsburg; paternal grandfather, Charles Kilmer of Hedgesville, W.Va.; paternal grandmother, Peggy Kilmer of Winchester; maternal great-grandmother, Edna Shepherd of Leesburg, Va.; and paternal great-grandparents, George and Louise Kilmer of Tomahawk, W.Va.
Graveside services will be today at 10 a.m. at Tomahawk cemetery, Hedgesville. The Rev. Jerry Holdman will officiate.

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Francis Franklin "Chump" Penwell, 65, of Harpers Ferry, died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Feb. 26, 1933, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Fonrose and Bessie Longerbeam Penwell.
He retired from William A. Hazel Co., Chantilly, Va.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and served with the U.S. Army.
He was of the Episcopal faith.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 948 and VFW Memorial Post 3522, both of Charles Town, W.Va.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Hilliard Penwell; one sister, Irene Pura of Greenfield, Calif.; three brothers, Lester Penwell of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Eppa Penwell of Charleston, W.Va., and Edward Penwell of Ranson; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Marie Heishman, Katherine Brackett, Bessie Ballenger, Ellen Linton and Goldie Painter; and three brothers, James Penwell, Donald Penwell and Dick Penwell.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Lester Dillow will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrews on the Mount Episcopal cemetery, Mt. Mission, Harpers Ferry.

Jimmie R. McLaurin
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Jimmie Richard McLaurin, 63, of Charles Town, died Friday, July 10, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Oct. 19, 1934, in Wichita Falls, Texas, he was the son of the late Roy Gilbert McLaurin Sr. and Anne Marie Skinner McLaurin.
He was employed by Lane Construction Co. as a heavy equipment operator.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and served with the U.S. Army.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers.
He is survived by a close companion of 10 years, Darlene G. Sanders, at home; 10 children; one sister, Dorothy K. Johnston of Kentucky; three brothers, Donald G. McLaurin of Callaway, Md., Roy Gilbert McLaurin Jr. and Gary Wayne McLaurin, both of Victoria, Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be private.
There will be no visitation.

Geraldine D. Keesecker
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Geraldine Delia Keesecker, 90, of Martinsburg, died Friday, July 10, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born Dec. 31, 1907, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Edward and Martha Virginia Johnson Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Leon Keesecker, in 1991.
She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Martinsburg.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine Trussell and Claudia Klegerman.
Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Arlene R. Carr and the Rev. Paul C. Stanley will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery, Martinsburg.

Clarence L. Mason
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Clarence Leroy Mason, 76, of Hedgesville, died Friday, July 10, 1998, of a massive heart attack at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born April 8, 1922, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Thomas E. and Mamie V. Johns Mason. He lived most of life in Hedgesville.
He was employed by Hedgesville High School and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, retiring from both after 33 years of service.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served with 92nd Division Engineer Battalion, Buffalo Soldiers, from 1942 to 1945, including tours in Germany and Italy.
He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Hedgesville Lions Club and Town Council.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Virginia Roper Mason; one son, Charles E. Mason of Hedgesville; one sister, Maude E. Mason of Hedgesville; one grandson; one great-granddaughter; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia E. Mason; one son, Claude E. Mason; and one sister, Dorothy Glascoe.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Martinsburg. The Rev. Alfred E. Statesman will officiate. Burial will be in Hedgesville cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The casket will be taken to the church at noon Tuesday. The family will meet at the home of his son at 304 S. Church St., Hedgesville, at noon Tuesday before going to the church.

MIDDLEWAY, W.Va. - Allen Wayne Fellers, 29, of Middleway, died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Jan. 13, 1969, in Charles Town, W.Va., he was the son of Nancy P. McAtee Palmer of Hedgesville, W.Va., and the late Carl A. Barron.
He attended Jefferson High School, Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.
He was employed for 13 years by Elliott Construction Co., Middleway.
He was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his stepfather, Paul V. Palmer of Hedgesville; four half sisters, Catherine Rankin of Rippon, W.Va., Doris Palmer of Florida, Mary Elizabeth McCarty of Upperville, Va., and Dorothy Palmer of Ohio; one brother, Jesse M. Fellers of Inwood, W.Va.; six half brothers, James A. Palmer of Hedgesville, Vernon Palmer of Middleway, David Palmer of Martinsburg, W.Va., Paul Palmer of Arizona, Daniel Palmer of Stafford, Va., and Eugene Palmer of Winchester, Va.; and close friends and employers, Charles "Buster" and Joyce Elliott of Middleway.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Ronald Nick will officiate. Burial will be in Middleway Masonic cemetery, Middleway.
