HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Leslie Johnnie Teuton, 81, of Hedgesville, died Friday, July 3, 1998, at Heartland of Martinsburg, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born April 29, 1917, in Burbank, Fla., he was the son of the late Charles and Alice Pictorial Robinson Teuton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Ruth Teuton, in 1994.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was in the reserves for 12 years, retiring as a chief petty officer.
He owned and operated Gaithersburg TV and Radio Service for 34 years.
He is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Lee Martin of Jefferson, Md., Carol Ann Peake of Columbia, S.C., Susan Jane Trent of Point of Rocks, Md., and Judith May Trexler of Hedgesville; two sons, James Joseph Teuton of Terrell, Texas, and Charles Raymond Teuton of Yorktown, Va.; a brother, Hugh Teuton of Ocala, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; agreat-great-grandchild; several stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Leslie J. Teuton Jr.
Services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Military graveside services will be conducted by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Agnes E. Thompson
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Agnes Ellen Thompson, 65, of Charles Town, died Monday, July 6, 1998, at her home.
Born Dec. 6, 1932, in Millville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John William and Genevieve Virginia Osbourne Viands.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by her husband, Franklin "Sonny" Thompson; three daughters, Janet Fellers of Kearneysville, W.Va., Brenda Gain of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Nancy Mills of Ranson, W.Va.; one son, James Timothy Croson of Charles Town; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Willadine Brackett, Estelle Cogle and Betty Viands.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson. Wyman E. Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Bolivar, W.Va.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carroll R. Maxson
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Carroll Ray "Joe" Maxson, 61, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, July 2, 1998, at Auburn Regional Medical Center, Auburn, Wash.
Born Nov. 23, 1936, in Harrisville, W.Va., he was the son of the late Guy and Mamie Campbell Maxson.
He retired from AT&T in 1995 after 40 years.
He was a member of Fur, Fin and Feather Hunting Club, Telephone Pioneer Club and Communications Workers of America.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Carol Haverstraw Maxson; one daughter, Beth Gill of Houston, Texas; two sons, Chris J. Maxson of Berkeley Springs and Roger Maxson of Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Lena Bell Post of Harrisville; one brother Lendell Maxson of Hurricane, W.Va.; his stepmother, Nin Maxson of West Union, W.Va.; one granddaughter; three stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Walters; and one brother, Virgil Maxson.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Everett Powell will officiate. Burial will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the International Order of Oddfellows cemetery, Harrisville.

Harold J. Hovermale
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Harold J. Hovermale, 79, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born June 20, 1919, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Emory and Maggie Rankin Hovermale.
He retired as a mechanic with Morgan Motor Sales, Berkeley Springs.
He attended Calvary Bible Church, Berkeley Springs.
He was a member of Disabled Veterans Association.
He is survived by his wife, Vadalea Silver Hovermale; one sister, Thelma Grove of Berkeley Springs; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Gary Kerns, the Rev. Jim Downey and the Rev. Paul Stanley will officiate. Burial will be in Spohrs Cross Roads cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The viewing will be Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lottie P. Martin
SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Lottie Pauline Martin, 90, of Shenandoah Junction, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at the home of her daughter, Jane M. Jennison, in Shenandoah Junction.
Born June 5, 1908, in Fisher, Ill., she was the daughter of the late George M. and Ida Mae Gray Stevenson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude C. Martin, in 1995.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Disciples of Christ Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Jane M. Jennison of Shenandoah Junction; two sons, Larry R. Martin of King George, Va., and James C. Martin of Temple Hills, Md.; two sisters, Ina Powell of Rantoul, Ill., and Bess Wine of Denver; one brother, Edgar Stevenson of Rantoul; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Dean; and two brothers, Elmer Stevenson and William Stevenson.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Thomas "Dale" Staley, 58, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at City Hospital.
Born June 24, 1940, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Thomas and Fannibelle Needy Staley.
He was a 1958 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
He was employed by The Martinsburg Journal.
He was a social member of Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Blickenstaff Staley; two daughters, Kim Allen of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Crystal Pennington of Martinsburg; two sons, Dennis Staley of Frederick, Md., and Kenneth Staley of Martinsburg; three stepsons, Thomas C. Blickenstaff, Tony C. Blickenstaff and Todd C. Blickenstaff, all of Hagerstown; one brother, James Staley of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and one stepgrandchild.
He was preceded in death by one sister, M. Elizabeth Henretta.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Dorothy Virginia Beard, 76, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at City Hospital.
Born Jan. 30, 1922, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late T. Eugene and B. Virginia Schmitt Sharpless.
She was a 1939 graduate of Martinsburg High School; and a 1943 graduate of West Virginia University.
For 46 years, she was employed as office manager with the former Perfection Garment Co.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and a former primary class Sunday school teacher.
She was past worthy matron of Golden Rule Chapter 69 of OES; a former member of Junior Civic League; and past president of AAUW.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Harry "Shindy" Beard; and a half sister, Gene Dugan of Florida.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church. Dr. G. Edward Grove will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Larry W. Stout, 40, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at his home.
Born Oct. 23, 1957, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of Fred William and Jeanne Young Stout of Martinsburg.
He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School.
He was employed by The Martinsburg Journal.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Lisa Robinson Stout; one daughter, Lacy Faye Stout, at home; one son, Larry W. Stout II, at home; and two brothers, Mike Stout of Pennsylvania and Stephen Stout of Inwood, W.Va.

Bessie Poland
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Bessie Poland, 77, of Morgantown, and formerly of Moundsville, W.Va., died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at Mont Point Nursing Home, Morgantown.
Born June 9, 1921, in Romney, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James Amos and Cora Ethel Largent Poland.
She worked for many years caring for children in private homes.
She was a member of the Baptist Church, Moundsville.
She is survived by one sister, Nellie B. Byers of Waynesboro, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Green Hill cemetery in Waynesboro. The Rev. Jay Zimmerman will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill cemetery.
