HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Failure Marylou Griffith, 91, of Harpers Ferry, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at the home of her daughter Alma June Ott.
Born Jan. 3, 1907, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Bushrod and Minnie Johnson Hostler.
She was employed with Leesburg (Va.) Laundry for many years and was a seasonal employee with Basch's Fruit Co. in Ranson, W.Va.
She was an Episcopalian.
She is survived by two daughters, Thelma Marie "Reedy" Staubs and Alma June Ott, both of Harpers Ferry; a sister, Emma Ellen Alger of Charles Town, W.Va.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Wilt; and four brothers, Raymond Hostler, Norman Hostler, Forrest Earl "Buck" Hostler and Roland Hostler.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. Pastor Allen Hartlove will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrews on the Mount Episcopal Church Yard cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Leona P. Elliott
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Leona Pearl Elliott, 70, of Hedgesville, died Monday, June 29, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born June 1, 1928, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Cora Ellen Hite Riggs.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Riggs; two sisters, Catherine Rossbach Allen and Peggy Holniker; five brothers, Raymond Riggs, Ray Riggs, Pete Riggs, Wilmer Riggs and James Riggs.
Services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Louise Bowen will officiate. Burial will be in Central Chapel cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edward E. Carrie
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Edward Earl Carrie, 55, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at his home.
Born April 27, 1943, in St. Francisville, Ill., he was the son of the late Chelsa and Edna Lorrane Blevens Carey.
He was employed by Maryland Ribbon Co., a division of C.M. Offray, in Hagerstown. He previously was a carpenter.
He was a member of Hedgesville Baptist Church.
He also was a member of Aerie 694 F.O. Eagles in Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Banzhoff Carrie of Martinsburg; one daughter, Michelle L. Wilson of Hedgesville; four sons, Earl L. Lapole, William E. Lapole and Brian L. Carrie, all of Martinsburg, and Robert E. Carrie of Lawrenceville, Ill.; one sister, Wilta Springer of Panillis Park, Fla.; two brothers, Jack Carey of Aurora, Ill., and John Carey of St. Francisville; and 12 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 127 Britner Ave., Williamsport. The Rev. Floyd E. Smith will officiate.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Sarah J. Hutzler, 77, of Route 4, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at City Hospital.
Born Dec. 16, 1920, in Spirit River, Canada, she was the daughter of the late William B. and Dorothy S. Sager.
She was a member of Fellowship Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn J. Graham of Martinsburg; one son, Charles W. Hutzler of Kingston, Tenn.; three sisters, Virginia Smallwood of Ridgeway, W.Va., Rhoda Kline of Hanover, Pa., and H. Marie Mathias of Williamsburg, Va.; two brothers, William B. Sager Jr. of Delray, W.Va., and Donald O. Sager of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Courtney Sager and Theodore Sager; and one granddaughter.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Fellowship Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Carol Strickler will officiate. Burial will be in Bunker Hill cemetery.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Connie Kay Beale, 46, of Charles Town, died Saturday, June 27, 1998, at her home.
Born Jan. 22, 1952, in Norton, Va., she was the daughter of Kenneth Ray Hurt of Hazel Park, Mich., and the late Myrtle Evelyn Stridham Hurt Miller.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her father, she is survived by two daughters, Ilavan Silveous of Millville, W.Va., and Teresa Fay Young of Leesburg, Va.; one son, George Lafayette Beale, at home; one brother, Ronnie Ray Hurt of Gallipolis, Ohio; one half-sister, Flora Jean Tittle of Norfolk, Va.; and two grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a half-brother, Johnny "Butch" Miller.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson, W.Va. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery in Charles Town, W.Va.

DARKESVILLE, W.Va. - Charles Alvin Butler, 86, of Darkesville, died Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Sept. 2, 1911, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late John Franklin and Sadie Bell McDonald Butler.
His wife, Goldie A. Braithwaite Butler, preceded him in death.
He retired from C.H. Musselman Plant in Inwood, W.Va., after more than 35 years.
He was a member of Darkesville United Methodist Church, the Golden Circle Class, and was a trustee and superintendent of the church school.
He also was a member of United Commercial Travelers and South Berkeley United Methodist Men.
He is survived by three sons, John Braithwaite of Birmingham, Ala., Robert Braithwaite of Ridgeway, W.Va. and Howard Braithwaite of Darkesville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty L. Mann; one sister, Evelyn Hess; and four brothers, Thurman Butler, Edgar Butler, Filmore Butler and Addison Butler.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. Patricia Drake will officiate. Burial will be in Rest cemetery in Frederick County, Va.

GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - G. Ben Crim, 78, of Gerrardstown, died Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Born Sept. 17, 1919, in Gerrardstown, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Bertha V. Collis Crim.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred C. Kees Crim.
He retired from Martin Marietta after more than 40 years.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division.
He was a member of Gerrardstown United Methodist Church.
He also was a member of Council 35 J.O.U.A.M.; Martinsburg Lodge 120, Loyal Order of Moose; Berkeley Post 14; American Legion, and United Commercial Travelers.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Crim and Carol Beard, both of Gerrardstown; one son, Ben Brian Crim of Gerrardstown; one stepson, Neal W. Kees; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, M. Catherine Miles.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. John R. Yost will officiate. Burial will be in Gerrardstown Presbyterian cemetery, with military graveside services by Berkeley Post 14 American Legion, and Newton D. Baker Post 896 V.F.W.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Benjamin F. Trail, 98, a resident of Autumn Acres, died Monday, June 29, 1998, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.
Born in Morgan County, W.Va., on Feb. 17, 1900, he was the son of the late Edmond and Catherine Bishop Trail.
He was employed by B&O Railroad as a trackman from 1924 to 1965.
He attended Alpine United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Junior Order of Mechanics in Berkeley Springs.
He is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Shaw of Hancock, and Frances Everett of Berkeley Springs; 16 grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Katherine Baker; three sons, John Trail, Charles Trail and Junior Trail; four sisters, Margie Frevels, Edna Frevels, Roselee Frevels and Ethel Trail; and two brothers, Hughy Trail and Bill Trail.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. Burial will be in Alpine cemetery.

Jantel I. Puller
RANSON, W.Va. - Jantel Inanna Puller, infant daughter of Heather Puller and John Plowden of Ranson, died Thursday, June 25, 1998, at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister, Shala Plowden; and maternal grandparents, Carolyn and Clarence Puller of Ranson.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home in Ranson.
