William Kenneth Jordan, 64, of Harmons Creek, Poca, died April 9, 2004.
He was born August 2, 1939 in Charleston, a son of the late George and Mattie Jordan. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert McClanahan.
Surviving: sister, Joyce Minner; son, Linn Boswell; daughter, Karen Reese and Tonya Branham; eight grandchildren.
At his request there was no service. Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.

Marion M. “Tom” Lewis, 73, of Cape Coral, Fla. went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2004, in Hospice House, Cape Coral. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Bob Ray. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born June 8, 1930, in West Hamlin, W.Va., a son of the late Edward A. Lewis and Emma Vanater. He was a retired electrician from Inco. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Harless Lewis; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia and Ron Lyons of Huntington, Donna and Ronnie McCallister of Barboursville and Kathy Woodrum of Lewisville, N.C.; three stepdaughters and their spouses, Nancy and Bill Tanner of Fort Myers, Fla., Sandy and Delbert Hagley of Lexington, Ky., and Nellie Lawson of Huntington; one sister, Audrey Bias of Hamlin; one brother and sister-in-law, Leslie and Ethel Pullen of West Hamlin; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Patty Jean Fenner Meadows
Patty Jean Fenner Meadows, 70, of Milton, W.Va., formerly of Huntington, W.Va., departed this life to rest in eternal peace with her heavenly father on Monday, April 5, 2004. She was born Feb. 11, 1934, in Huntington, W.Va., the daughter of the late Kermit Reed Fenner and Ethel Mae Mason Fenner. She retired after 27 years of dedicated service to the WV Department of Agriculture Guyan Soil Conservation District. She was a 1952 graduate of Huntington East High School, where she met and fell in love with her husband of 52 years, Laddie Don Meadows. She was a member of Dillon Chapel United Methodist Church. She is survived by her loving family, her husband, Laddie; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael R. Meadows and Linda R. Brown Meadows of Milton and Mark A. Meadows and Laura S. Brown Meadows of Barboursville; one daughter and son-in-law, Brian and Kim Beach-Shaffer of Huntington; seven grandchildren, SheaLeigh D. Beach and fiance' Christopher L. Burger of Milton, Mindy R. Meadows Facemyer and Justin M. Facemyer of Ripley, W.Va., Megan D. Meadows of Barboursville, Corey R. Beach of Huntington, Jayme S. Meadows of Milton, Jacob T. Meadows of Barboursville and Morgan J. Meadows of Milton; one very special great-granddaughter, Hannah Cohle Conrad of Milton; four step-grandchildren, Summer N. Smith of Barboursville, Brandon W. Smith and Holly Draper Smith of Layton, Utah and Ashley D. and Shatter of Huntington; and one step-great-granddaughter, Madelyn Elizabeth Adkins of Barboursville.
She was kind, giving and loving and showed her love in many unspoken selfless acts, never thinking of herself, but only those who she loved so dearly. Although petite in stature (never let size fool you), she was a great source of energy, with her fiery spirit and determined resolve. She was the essence of genuine strength and courage even in her last hours. She spent the last several winters of retirement with her husband in fabulous Florida Keys basking in the sun and fishing in the Gulf Stream waters. The love that she shared so freely in her 70 years in immeasurable and will be treasured for a lifetime. The lives of her family and friends were touched very deeply and will forever be molded by her presence. Memorial services were conducted Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at Dillon Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Rowe and the Rev. Teresa Markins officiating. Lillian Irene Casdorph
Lillian Irene Casdorph, 84, of Barboursville went home to be with the Lord April 8, 2004, in St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born July 6, 1919, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Hiram and Mae Wilson Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stanton Eugene Casdorph, in 1998. She was a retired cook from Barboursville High School and was also active in dinner preparations at Bates Memorial Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her children, Linda and John Stewart of Cross Lanes, W.Va., Brenda and Donnie Jelks of Orlando, Fla., and Eugenia and Roger Harris of Barboursville; sister-in-law, Joy Davis of South Point, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, William and Willa Jean Davis of Huntington; grandchildren, Christina Painter, Kelly Heffner, Tara Stewart, R. J. Harris, Ryan Harris and Kibbee Jelks; and great-grandchildren, Trey, Bryan and Austin Harris and two on the way. Everett D. Wilson
Everett D. Wilson, 83, of Milton died Wednesday, April 7, 2004. He was born Aug. 7, 1920 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Naaman and Anna Randolph Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Opal Mills Wilson in 1993. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and retired from Huntington Alloys. He was a member of 26th Street Baptist Church, Western Star Lodge #11, A.F. and A.M. Guyandotte, Blind Veterans Association and Disabled American Veteran. Survivors include his wife Doris Jean Murphy Wilson; one son, Daniel Everett Wilson of Germany; one daughter, Donna Lee Wilson of England; two stepsons Charles Murphy of McGregor, Texas , and Morris Dwight Murphy of Teays Valley, W.Va.; two brothers, Eugene D. Wilson of Chesapeake, Ohio, and Donald Lee Wilson of Winston-Salelm, N.C.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 10, 2004, in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with the Rev. Harry Scarberry and the Rev. Daryl Fourman. Glada Ellen Cyfers Vallandingham, 89, of Barboursville passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2004. Funeral services were conducted at Friday 9, 2004, at Kuhn Memorial Presbyterian Church by Dr. Jerry Harrah. Burial in Oaklawn Memorial Park. She was born April 30, 1914, in Gill W.Va, a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Nancy Fry Cyfers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Granville P. Vallandingham. She was a member of the Kuhn Memorial Presbyterian Church for 66 years. She served as trustee of the church and was awarded a Life Membership from the Women of the Church in 1986. She was a member of the Barboursville Woman's Club, a director of The First State Bank for 27 years and a retired officer of The First State Bank, with 35 years of service. She is survived by Philip and Jeannie Vallandingham; Philip Andrew Vallandingham; Stephanie Mayberry and her husband Sean, their children Samantha and Madison; Samuel A. Vallandingham; Jack and Marsha Dilley, Elizabeth and Mary Ellen Dilley and Courtney Marz; two special nieces, Mary Minichan and Jane Dilley Saal; numerous other nieces and nephews; two sisters, Lois C. Miller of Huntington and Dorothy C. Smith of Hamlin, W.Va.; and one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Ruth Cyfers of Helper, Utah. Patty Jean Meadows, 70, of Milton, wife of Laddie Meadows, died Monday, April 5, 2004 at home. She was an administrative assistant for the West Virginia Department of Agriculture. Also surviving are two sons, Michael Meadows of Milton and Mark Meadows of Barboursville and one daughter, Kim Beach-Shaffer of Huntington. Memorial service was conducted April 13, 2004 at Dillon Chapel United Methodist Church; burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Arrangements by Henson Mortuary. Jewell L. Gibson
Jewell Leadman Gibson, 90, of Hurricane died Monday, March 29, 2004, in Putnam General Hospital.
She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Hurricane, and she loved camping and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, O. Ray Gibson, son, Gary “Gippie” Gibson, great-grandson, Gary Duane Gibson, brothers, Bernie, Ross, Clay, Tommy, Guy and Ray, and sister, Sylvia Byrd.
Surviving: daughter, Bernice and her husband, Everett, of Hurricane; daughter-in-law, Joann Lovejoy Gibson of Maryland; grandchildren, Sandra and Gary Handley, Kathy and Roger Hicks, Jack and Kim Bird, all of Hurricane, Timothy and Diane Bird of Fort Myers, Florida, and Duane and Debbie Gibson of Maryland; great-grandchildren, Shenella Gibson of Maryland, Jennifer and David Danner of Ohio, Tami Handley, Stephanie Bird and David Bird, all of Hurricane, Crissy and Steve Craddock of Culloden, Jonathan Bird of Washington , D.C., Courtney and Steve Wray of Maine; great-great-grandchildren, Jason and Faith Craddock, Jackie and Anna Gibson, Melody Garnes; several nieces and nephews.

James L. Noffsinger
James L. Noffsinger, 71, of Red House died March 29, 2004.
He was retired from Raleigh Junk with 49 years of service, and a member of Lone Oak Church of God Mission, where he was a former deacon, elder, trustee and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the American Legion in Winfield and a former member of the Eleanor Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parent, Herbert L. and Freda E. Higginbotham Noffsinger.
Surviving: his wife of 49 years, June C. Smith Noffsinger; daughters and their spouses, Debbie and Gale Casto of Red House, Rhonda and Tim Mendenhall of Scott Depot; sister, Sarah Sayre of Huntington; brothers, Ralph G. Roy M. Sanders
Roy M. Sanders, 84, of Poca died March 29, 2004, in Putnam General Hospital.
He was a retired coal miner and an Army veteran.
Surviving: son, James R. Sanders of Poca; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service was held Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House, with the Rev. Bob Sigman officiating. Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.
John C. Moore, 54, of Scott Depot died March 23, 2004, at his residence.
He was an employee for the state of West Virginia Department of Highways. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, a recipient of two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.
Surviving: wife, Sherry L. Moore; son, Casey Moore of Scott Depot; daughter, Jami Moore of Charleston.
Private graveside service was held March 29, 2004 at Montgomery Memorial Park. Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston, was in charge of arrangements.

Ronald D. Trent
Ronald D. Trent, 50, of Scott Depot, formerly of Salem, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, following a short illness.
He was born January 30, 1954 in Clarksburg, the son of the late Amos Trent and Mrs. Ralph “Chris” Trent Thompson of Clarksburg.
He graduated from Salem High School, class of 1972. While in Salem, he attended the Seventh Day Baptist Church, was a volunteer Fire Fighter, part-time police officer, and a member of the Harrison County EMS. After leaving Salem, he worked for the Public Service Commission and was an insurance agent and private investigator.
Surviving in addition to his mother: wife, Connie L. Trent of Scott Depot; stepdaughter, Rachel Cox; stepson, Joseph Cox; adopted daughters, Kimberly Harris and Jessica Nida; sister, Rebecca Wright of Clarksburg; brothers, Terry M. Patterson of Fairmont, Jimmy Trent of Clarksburg, and Robert Trent of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Austin T. Cox, Boyd T. Baire, Bodie Baire, Tabatha Baire, Raven Gilmore, and Kade Gilmore.

Thomas S. Watson
Thomas S. Watson, 88, of Winfield died March 27, 2004, at the VA Medical Center in Huntington.
Born September 7, 1915 in Winfield, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Mize Watson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Garnett M. Watson, his sons-in-law, John Paul Hensley and Benjamin W. Hedrick, brothers, Wesley Watson, John Watson Sr., and James Watson; and sisters, Elsie Lawrence and Clovicie Thevenin.
He was a construction worker, having helped build many of the bridges, locks, dams and power plants along the Kanawha River and in the Kanawha Valley. He was a lifelong resident of Winfield and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
Surviving: daughters, Mary Jean Edwards and her husband, Clay, of Scott Depot, Betty J. Hensley of Winfield, and Patricia Hedrick of Scott Depot; grandchildren, Michael Cornell, Ruth Foster, Richard Cornell, Rebecca Cornell, Teresa Sayre, John T. Hensley, Yvonne Wilkinson, Craig Hedrick, Sarah Smith and Thomas Hedrick; 11 great-grandchildren.
Service was held Monday, March 29, 2004, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with Pastor Doug McComas officiating. Burial was in Winfield Cemetery.
James J. Dunphy
James J. “Joe” Dunphy, 85, of Hurricane died March 25, 2004, at the VA Medical Center, Huntington.
Born July 26, 1918 in Cloquet, Minnesota, he was a son of the late John and Susanna Williamson Dunphy. He was also receded in death by his daughters, Darlene Luther and Patricia McFadden, three brothers and four sisters.
After retiring to Arcadia, Florida, he spent much of his time tending the grounds at Sunny Breeze Golf Course. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II, and was a member of the VFW Post 9097, Teays Valley.
Surviving: wife, Beatrice Dunphy; daughter, Janice Marslender and her husband, Dan, of Cross Lanes; sister, Doris Reed of Cloquet; brother, Donald Dunphy of Cloquet; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at the Church of Christ, Cross Lanes, with Minister Kenneth Mitchell officiating. Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, was in charge of arrangements.
