CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Frances Elizabeth Sowers, 83, of Charles Town, died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at her home.
Born March 16, 1914, in Stanley, Va., she was the daughter of the late Pete and Viola Painter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Addison Garvin "Pete" Sowers, in 1984.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by two daughters, Clara Levi of Berryville, Va., and Frances Kidwell of Charles Town; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Addison Garvin Sowers Jr.; two sisters, Gladys Covert and Rachael Penwell; and two brothers, Lloyd Painter and James Painter.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson, W.Va. Pastor Russell W. Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

KINGWOOD, W.Va. - Eugene L. Ellis, 87, of Kingwood, died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at Hopemont Hospital, Terra Alta, W.Va.
Born June 30, 1910, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late William and Annie Douglas Ellis.
He was a self-employed brick mason.
He is survived by one sister, Marrietta Kimes of Cumberland, Md.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. Fred A. Greenfield will officiate.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Lyle J. Kelley, 84, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, March 15, 1998.
Born Sept. 15, 1913, in Hardy County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Howard and Lucy Keplinger Kelley.
He was a retired farmer.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Butlers Chapel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Anna May Light Kelley; one daughter, Sharon E. Gilbert of Linden, Va.; one son, Richard Kelley of Martinsburg; and two sisters, Leota Bovino of Hagerstown and Irene Michael of Petersburg, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by one son, James William Kelley; one sister, Elsie Harrison; and two brothers, Ervin Kelley and Cecil Kelley.
Services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Jerry Lowans will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill cemetery.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Charles Edward "Eddie" Bell, 51, of Martinsburg, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born Aug. 3, 1946, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Ruth Katherine Bell.
He was a member of Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW, Berkeley Post 14 American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles 4179.
He is survived by seven sisters, Carolyn Myers, Frankie Myers, Jo Ann Cox, Suzette Bell and Beverly Bell, all of Martinsburg, Michelle Gifft of Keedysville, and Suzanne Burke of Lovettsville, Va.; three brothers, Larry W. Bell of Frederick, Md., Richard W. Bell and Donald L. Bell, both of Martinsburg; and nieces and nephews.

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Donald Jeffrey William "Chico" Brown, 34, of Fox Glen, died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Jan. 11, 1964, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of Anna Mae Goode Brown of Fox Glen and the late George William Nelson Brown.
He attended Shepherdstown High School, Shepherdstown, W.Va.
He was formerly employed in the construction industry.
He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Tamila F. "Tammy" Berry Brown; three daughters, Brandy Brown of Kentucky, Paige Brown and Raven Brown, both at home; one son, Stephen Berry, at home; two sisters, Rebecca Miller and Robin Hall, both of Fox Glen; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Dillow.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, West Third Avenue, Ranson. Alvin N. Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Irene L. Moss, 72, of Shepherdstown, died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at her home.
Born May 13, 1925, in Saranac Lake, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late George and Irene Whiting LaPan.
She was an honor graduate of Smith College in North Hampton, Mass., and Katherine Gibbs College in New York City.
She had careers at Johns Hopkins, School for Advanced International Studies, Washington, D.C., and Shepherd College.
She was active in politics in New Hampshire and Texas.
She was a yoga teacher for 30 years.
She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Moss; three sons, Michael Alden Peck, Thomas Whiting Peck and Philip Moss; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church, 100 W. Washington St., Shepherdstown. The Rev. Randall Tremba will officiate. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ruth E. McDaniel, 81, of Martinsburg, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at her home.
Born April 6, 1916, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles T. and Nannie Tederick McDaniel.
She was a 1936 graduate of Hedgesville High School.
She retired from Corning Glass.
She was a member of Tomahawk Presbyterian Church.
She was a member of Corning Retirees Club; Eastern Panhandle Travel Club; and E.G.O. at City Hospital.
She is survived by two sisters, her twin, Naomi F. McDaniel and Mildred M. Alexander, both of Martinsburg.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Mitchell L. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

Born April 15, 1923, in Delbeck, Va., he was the son of the late Ernest Stroup and Annie DeLawder.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator with Hazel Construction Co. in Leesburg, Va.; and Clarence Boyer Construction Co., Bowie, Md.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 948 of Charles Town, W.Va.; and Steadman-Keenan Post 96 of American Legion at Brunswick, Md.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mabel Gray DeLawder; two daughters, Nancy Royston of Front Royal, Va., and Debbie Weister of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.; two sons, Raymond W. DeLawder Jr. and Larry C. DeLawder, both of Bolivar; one sister, Shirley Devull of Middleway, W.Va.; one brother, Robert Windsor of Nashville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Kevin Hardee and Justin Tyler Hardee, both of Bunker Hill; four sisters, Elaine Fisher of Baltimore, Marjorie Larrick of Capon Bridge, W.Va., Judy S. Cole of Martinsburg and Beverley Stouffer of Shippensburg, Pa.; three brothers, Ronald G. Hardee and Roger C. Hardee, both of Martinsburg; and Emmert W. Hardee of Bunker Hill; and two grandsons.
