MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Craig G. Luding, 36, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at City Hospital.
Born Feb. 23, 1961, in Baltimore, he was the son of Nicetas Sisler Matthews of Bunker Hill, W.Va., and the late George L. Luding.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Madison Rose Luding; one sister, Alice Crowell of Bunker Hill; one stepsister, Sandy Matthews of Baltimore; and three stepbrothers, William Matthews, Michael Matthews and Bruce Matthews, all of Baltimore.
Services will be today at 12:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. William C. Crowe will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill cemetery.
The family received friends Friday, Jan. 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mary L. Weidman
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mary Louise Weidman, 93, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at her home.
Born May 10, 1904, in French, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Herman and Laura Arnold Lederer.
She was a member of Northside Christian Church.
She is survived by a great-niece, Shirley Stafford of Cumberland, Md.; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Braithwaite, Ida Royce and Virginia Lederer; and two brothers, Jesse Lederer and John Lederer.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Duane E. Fowler
GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. - Duane Ellis "Fuzz" Fowler, 70, of Great Cacapon, and formerly of Paw Paw, W.Va., died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Sept. 28, 1927, in Pierce, W.Va., he was the son of the late Virgil Alfred and Regis Lucille Kelley Fowler.
He worked on road construction for many years and retired due to illness.
He served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and U.S. Merchant Marines. His tours of duty included service during World War II.
He was a member of Paw Paw Church of God in Paw Paw.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy A. Fischer Fowler of Great Cacapon; one daughter, Alicia R. Fowler of Great Cacapon; two sisters, Carolyn K. Kline of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Ruth E. Strickland of Bloomery, W.Va.; four brothers, Paul A. Fowler of Kearneysville, W.Va., Donald L. Fowler of Conway, S.C., Leland L. "Hatchet" Fowler of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Larry M. Fowler of Paw Paw; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia A. Parrill; and one brother, Charles Fowler.
Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Roger E. Burtner will officiate. Burial will be in Great Cacapon cemetery in Great Cacapon, with military graveside honors conducted by Tri-State Honor Guard.

Lester M. Kruhm
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Lester Monroe Kruhm, 79, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.
Born Sept. 14, 1918, in West Friendship, Md., he was the son of the late Edward George and Lucy Amoss Kruhm.
He attended Lisbon High School, Lisbon, Md.
He retired in 1977 after 22 years of service as a service adviser with Chevy Chase Chevyland, Bethesda, Md.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from July 15, 1942, to Feb. 16, 1946, and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and was schooled at the Army Administration School, Hattiesburg, Miss., Army Air Force Radio School, Scott Field, Ill., and Teletypewriter Operator School, Chanute Field, Ill.
He was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church in Unger, W.Va.
He was a member of AARP, and Berkeley Springs Lions Club, Berkeley Springs.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia May Eilbert Kruhm; one son, Richard Lester Kruhm of Silver Spring, Md.; two sisters, Olive Underwood of Baltimore, and Florence Hobbs of Catonsville, Md.; two brothers, Earl A. Kruhm of Berkeley Springs, Francis Kruhm of Brookeville, Md.; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs with military honors provided by Tri-State Honor Guard. Pastor Sue Hallager will officiate. Burial will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Mountain View cemetery, Marriottsville, Md.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday for the convenience of friends.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Effie B. Zeigler, 73, of Jefferson Village, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at College View Center, Frederick, Md.
Born March 8, 1924, in Ranson, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Lula Perks Slusher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Zeigler, in 1987.
She retired as a kindergarten teacher's aide from Page Jackson Solar Elementary School, Charles Town.
She was a member of Middleway United Methodist Church, Middleway, W.Va. She was a member of United Methodist Women; and a member of the Sunday school class.
She was a member of Citizens Fire Co., Ladies Auxiliary, Charles Town; a volunteer for Jefferson Food Bank, Charles Town; and a member of Jefferson County Retired School Personnel.
She is survived by one son, Dale R. Zeigler of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one sister, Peggy Biller of Winchester, Va.; and four brothers, Charles Slusher, Neil Slusher and Edward Slusher, all of Ranson, and Robert Slusher of Charles Town.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Miller Slusher.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Middleway United Methodist Church, Middleway, W.Va. The Rev. Kathleen Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Middleway Masonic cemetery.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Luther Edmond Jones, 64, of Charles Town, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at his home.
Born Jan. 12, 1933, in Cadiz, Ohio, he was the son of the late Luther F. and Jane Lisle Henderson Jones.
He was a stockbroker, with Smith Barney Co. in Washington, D.C.
He was a retired lieutenant colonel with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Shepherdstown, W.Va.
He is survived by his wife, C. Lakin Jones; two daughters, Allison Jones Lo and Amy Jones Rodriguez, both of Sante Fe, N.M.; five grandchildren; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one son, Scott Lakin Jones.
Services will be in Santa Fe; burial will be in Holy Faith Episcopal Church Columbarium, Santa Fe, at the convenience of the family.
There will be no visitation.

RANSON, W.Va. - Rutherford Birchard Sheets, 51, of Ranson, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born March 17, 1946, in Martinsburg, he was the son of Rutherford H. and Mary Wright Sheets.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Linda Combs Sonnemann; two daughters, Courtney R. Sonnemann and Joyce M. Sonnemann, both at home; and one son, Michael L. Sonnemann, at home.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa Lyn Sonnemann.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Floyd E. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, with military graveside services by Newton D. Baker Post 896, VFW; and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.

Morton V. Churchill
RANSON, W.Va. - Morton Vincent Churchill, 78, of Ranson, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Aug. 6, 1919, in Bethesda, Md., he was the son of the late George Morton and Mary Josephine Solyom Churchill.
He was a graduate of George Washington University, Washington, D.C., where he received a degree in mathematics.
He retired after many years as chief of the automatic data processing division at D.C. General Hospital, Washington, D.C.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army, 3083rd Engineer Map Depot. He received the EAMET Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal.
He was of the Presbyterian faith. He was formerly a member and elder of Kirk of the Valley Presbyterian Church, Fairfax, Va.
He was a member of Theta Delta Chi Fraternity and Order of the White Queen. He was an active member of Western Maryland Jousting Club; and member and former treasurer of Maryland Jousting Tournament Association.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Lu Polhamus Churchill; one daughter, Roberta Susan Churchill, at home; two sons, John Keene Churchill and Stephen Lawrence Churchill, both of Gaithersburg, Md.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Wooden; and one brother, Warren Churchill.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. William Everhart will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.
