MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ardella Virginia Kackley, 87, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born Oct. 10, 1910, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John Moss and Myrtle O. Rainer Palmer Moss Early.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Cleveland Kackley.
She was a homemaker.
She attended St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy Livingood and Hazel Whittington, both of Martinsburg; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Loretta A. Kackley; one son, Grover Cleveland Kackley Jr.; her step daughter, Lillian Spillman; six sisters, Gertrude Palmer, Bessie Palmer, Mary Palmer, Melva Palmer, Lelola Moss and Ruth Moss; and four brothers, Albert Palmer, William Palmer, Harry Palmer and John Moss.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Raymond E. Jones will officiate, assisted by Pastor Oscar Motilal. Burial will be in Arden United Methodist cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pauline A. Howard
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Pauline Ada Howard of Charles Town, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at her home.
Born in Golden Gate Ill., she was the daughter of the late Peter W. and Alma Penner Lambert.
She retired from the Navy Department in Washington, D.C., where she was the editor of naval manuals.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, William G. Howard; one daughter, Pamela Ann McDuffie of Charles Town; three grandchildren, Merci Jo McMannis, Marcus William McDuffie and Kelley Hardy; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town. The Rev. Michael Lowery will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery in Martinsburg.
There will be no visitation.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Edward Matthew Williams, infant son of Paul McKinley and Annette Louise Bain Williams of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, Va.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by paternal grandparents, Foy and Martha Williams of Churchton, Md.; maternal grandparents, Carl and Huldah Bain of McConnellsburg, Pa.; two aunts, Anna Colpitts of Burke, Va. and Jean Macauley of Norfolk, Va.; three uncles, John Williams of Woodbridge, Va., Carl Bain of Chesterton, Ind., and William Bain of Reston, Va.; and great-aunts and great-uncles.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Mary Stevens will officiate.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Rosa Etta McBride Foltz, 86, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at City Hospital.
Born Nov. 27, 1911, in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late C.T. and Ethel Bowen McBride.
Her husband, Homer Clarence Foltz, preceded her in death.
She was a member of Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Josephine Dunn of Martinsburg, Lake Lucille Crothers of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Doris Lee Davis of Kearneysville, W.Va.; three sons, William Henry "Ike" Foltz and Donald Ray Foltz, both of Martinsburg, and Charles Clarence Foltz of Hedgesville; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Virginia Everhart and Lillian Frances Foltz; and one brother, Ronald Eugene Foltz.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg. The Rev. William C. Crowe will officiate.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - William Herman Rowland Sr., 69, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at his home.
Born Aug. 4, 1928, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph McNaly and Florence Elizabeth Rowland.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Koga Rowland; two daughters, Marie Decker and Patricia Starliper, both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; three sons, Donald Rowland, Robert Rowland and William H. Rowland Jr., all of Berkeley Springs; one sister, Dorothy Thomas of Jefferson County; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Rowland; and one half-brother, Stockton Allen.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. The Rev. Malcolm L. Cadd Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Florence Mabel Harrison Green, 86, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at her home.
Born Aug. 28, 1911, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Lula Scott Harrison.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham Green.
She was a domestic worker for Dr. and Mrs. Marvin Porterfield and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen Walker and Lucille Green, both of Martinsburg; one son, Vernon Green of Martinsburg; a foster son, Clarence Creamer of Martinsburg; one brother, Louis Harrison of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Marion Bishop; and two brothers, John Harrison and Calvin Harrison.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church. The Rev. Alfred Statesman will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the home of Helen Walker prior to going to the church.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - David H. Small, 60, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at his home.
Born Dec. 11, 1937, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Howard B. and Margaret A. "Peggy" Hanshew Small.
He was a 1955 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
He retired from Potomac Edison with more than 25 years of service. Earlier, he was employed by the U.S. State Department and by B&O Railroad.
He was a member of Church of the Brethren in Leetown, W.Va.
He was an active member of Woodbrier Golf Club.
He was a member and past master of Robert White Lodge 67, AF&AM.
He is survived by one daughter, Robin Kay Small of Halltown, W.Va.; three sons, Mark H. Small and Forrest A. Small, both of Charles Town, W.Va., and Eric D. Small of Martinsburg; one sister, Margaret D. Butler of Files Crossroads, Martinsburg; three brothers, Dennis B. Small of Maugansville, Richard E. Small of Front Royal, Va., and John A. Small of Martinsburg; three grandchildren; a close friend, Vicki Clipp; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard A. Small.

MIDDLEWAY, W.Va. - Robert Upton Smith Jr., 90, of Middleway, died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at Shenandoah Home, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Oct. 12, 1907, in Middleway, he was the son of the late Robert Upton and Eleanor Shaull Smith Sr.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Madelynn K. Smith, in 1972.
He retired as a typesetter and printer from Mack Printing Co., Easton, Pa.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Middleway.
He was a member of Triluminar Masonic Lodge 117, Middleway; held memberships in Easton Masonic Lodge 152, Eastern Royal Arch Chapter 173, Pomp Council 20, Hugh DePayens Commandery 19 Knights Templar, Eastern Forest 35 Tall Cedars Lodge, all of Easton; and LeHigh Consistory 32 Degree.
He is survived by one brother, David F. Smith of Middleway; and three nephews, David M. Smith and Timothy D. Smith, both of Middleway, and Robert A. Smith of Ridgeway, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by one brother, George LaFayette Smith.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, Middleway. The Rev. Edward Greene and the Rev. Jane Kempster will officiate. Burial will be in Middleway Masonic cemetery, Middleway.
The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to the services at the church.
