SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Dorothea Mary Bagley, 84, a guest of Canterbury of Shepherdstown, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Nov. 12, 1913, in Washburn, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Mary E. Cuddy Bagley.
She retired, after 30 years of service, with the federal government, working at the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C.
She was of the Catholic faith.
She is survived by companion George Trundle of Shepherdstown; one sister, Edythe B. Myers of Shepherdstown; and one brother, Paul Bagley of Denver, Colo.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Amos Bagley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Shepherdstown. Father T. Matthew Rowgh will be celebrant. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Winterport, Maine.
The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the services at the church.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Betty Lou Fitzgerald, 69, of Tuscawilla Hills, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Jan. 9, 1928, in Fedora, S.D., she was the daughter of the late Harvey B. and Gertrude Scott Threadgold.
She was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married Nov. 18, 1945, Claude Eugene Fitzgerald, in 1996.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter in Rutland, Vt.
She is survived by three daughters, Karen Pekar of Charles Town, Nancy Roberts of Gurnee, Ill. and Linda Webb of Millersville, Md.; one son, Russell Fitzgerald of Kearneysville, W.Va.; three sisters, Dakota Nelson of Sturgis, S.D., Phyllis Williams of Sun City, Ariz., and Dawna Felix of Visalia, Calif.; two brothers, Robert Threadgold of Fedora, S.D., and Harlyn Threadgold of Brandon, S.D.; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Tom Fitzgerald, in 1997.
A memorial service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town. The Rev. James Chambly will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Hans Vogelzang, 46, of Boyd Avenue, died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997, at his home.
Born in Rotterdam, Holland, he was the son of the late Willem L. Vogelzang and Cornelia Arnolda Hessel.
He was employed for 15 years by Fireside Restaurant, Hagerstown, and Country Inn, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
He is survived by his stepmother, Jacoba Petronella Ham-Vogelzang of Holland, two sisters, Corrie VanRyen and Ellie Vogelzang; two brothers, Wim Vogelzang and Karel Vogelzang, all of Holland.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Wilbur F. Robertson
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Wilbur Floyd Robertson, 77, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at his home.
Born Nov. 16, 1919, in Kifer, Md., he was the son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Laura May Gracey Robertson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LeEsta Werdebaugh Robertson, in 1990.
He retired from Veterans Administration Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs; and a past president of George P. Hott Bible Class.
He was a 50-year member and past treasurer of Berkeley Springs Volunteer Fire Co. He was active in American Legion baseball and Little League baseball, where he served as umpire.
He is survived by one daughter, Gloria Jean Calhoun of Mont Alto, Pa.; one son, Dale L. Robertson of Berkeley Springs; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three infant children; one sister; and four brothers.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Owen Womack will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs; and Saturday one hour prior to the services at the church.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Raleigh E. Eversole Jr., 87, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997, at his home.
Born Sept. 19, 1910, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Raleigh E. and Oda Palmer Eversole Sr.
He retired as owner and operator of Raleigh Restaurant.
He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda White Eversole; two daughters, Jean Tasker of Hagerstown and Juanita Burditus of Martinsburg; one son, Raleigh E. Eversole III of Hedgesville, W.Va.; two sisters, Dorothy Lane of Baltimore and Betty Peacemaker of Martinsburg; one brother, Earl "Jump" Eversole of Martinsburg; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Kearns; and a brother, Bernard Eversole.
Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Al Clipp will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

James E. Leonard
INWOOD, W.Va. - James E. Leonard, 67, of Route 2, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born March 14, 1930, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Franklin and Elsie Reed Leonard.
He was a bricklayer.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elliott Leonard; one daughter, Lori Leonard of Inwood; two sons, Ronald Sims and Donald Sims, both of Martinsburg; one sister, Edna Wills of Martinsburg; three brothers, Jack Leonard and Harry Leonard, both of Hedgesville, W.Va., and David Leonard of Martinsburg; 14 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Shiflett and Sue Thorpe; two brothers, Franklin Leonard Jr. and Charles Leonard; and a granddaughter, April Miller.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Mark B. McDonald will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens with military graveside services by Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Mildred K. Butler, 65, of 811 Belvedere Heights, died Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Jan. 17, 1932, in Millville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank L. Newlin Sr. and Pansy J. Overholtz Newlin.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Lee Kern Sr., and by her second husband, Harry B. Butler.
She was a 1949 graduate of Harpers Ferry High School.
She retired from the Pentagon, Department of the Army, Washington, D.C.
She was a member of Downtown Baptist Church, Alexandria, Va.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Elaine Jarrell of Cross Junction, Va.; three sons, Douglas E. Jerome Kern of Winchester, Va., Joseph Lee Kern of Charles Town, and Jon Geoffrey Kern of Sterling, Va.; one stepdaughter, Nancy Sortino of Denver, Colo.; one stepson, Michael C. Butler of Pasadena, Md.; three sisters, Betty L. Duck of Landrum, S.C., Juanita V. Liles of Maud, Texas, and Helen N. Slusher of Ranson, W.Va.; three brothers, Frank L. Newlin Jr. of Alexandria, Albert D. Newlin of Lexington, Ky., and John D. Newlin of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey Lewis Kern and Charles Lee Kern Jr.; and one sister, Mary Marguerite Newlin.
Services will be today at 10 a.m. at Everly Colonial Funeral Home, Falls Church, Va. The Rev. Donald Bowen will officiate. Burial will be in National Memorial cemetery, Falls Church.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Nathan R. Johnson, 25, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
Born Dec. 31, 1971, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of Reginald A. Johnson and Carolyn A. Roman Scott, of Martinsburg.
He was formerly employed with Rest Care, a residential home for the handicapped.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Ronda Householder Johnson; a son, Nathan R. Johnson Jr., at home; maternal grandmother, Margaret Coles; paternal grandmother, Madeline Johnson; one sister, Michelle Barnes of Columbia, S.C.; three brothers, Dana A. Johnson, Mark A. Johnson and Glenn I. Johnson, all of Martinsburg; and two stepsisters, Renee Smith and Jennifer Smith, both of Martinsburg.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Reginald Johnson Jr.
