HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Mary Tabler Brown, 95, of Hedgesville, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, in C.J. Senior Care in Hagerstown.
Born April 4, 1903, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Burkhart L. and Elva Williamson Tabler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Arthur Brown Sr.
She was a member of Hedgesville Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by one son, James Arthur Brown of Williamsport; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Abbie Grant, Virginia Pearrell and Mildred Hartman.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Andrew L. Snelson will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Gladys J. Franklin
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Gladys J. Franklin, 75, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, at Church Home Hospital in Baltimore.
Born March 5, 1923, in Hamlin, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Shelby Burfitt and Zella Setliff Arbaugh.
She was a retired waitress.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by four daughters, Joyce Stewart of Dryden, Va., Tonda Bower of Essex, Md., Juanita Oleszczuk of Baltimore and Naywsa Jane Fitz of Martinsburg; one son, Jeffrey Wayne Stewart of Baltimore; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Hursey Stewart.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Harold O. Snyder will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

Anna M. Horner
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Anna Mary Horner, 94, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, at Care Haven of Berkeley County.
Born Feb. 3, 1904, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Albert P. and Ollie L. Bohrer Shade.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Horner, in 1991.
She was a graduate of Modern School of Beauty Culture in Washington, D.C.; and International Hair Styling Course in New York City.
She owned and operated two hair styling salons in Washington, D.C., retiring in 1948.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Winchester, Va.
She is survived by a sister, Fleda R. Miller of Berkeley County; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Dessa Wolford; and two brothers, Brent Shade and Howard Shade.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale cemetery. The Rev. David Burrough will officiate.

Nelson P. Kesecker
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Nelson Peter Kesecker, 74, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at his home.
Born June 27, 1924, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Roy M. and Gertrude Helena Warrenfeltz Kesecker.
He farmed in Morgan County, W.Va. He retired in 1986, as a school bus driver for the Morgan County Board of Education. He was a former Morgan County Commissioner.
He was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Morgan County Farm Bureau and Jr. OUAM Council 117.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Verna F. Kesecker; four daughters, Carol A. Selders of Martinsburg, W.Va., Donna Jean Swaim, Linda M. Miller and Barbara L. Roach, all of Berkeley Springs; two sons, Dwight N. Kesecker and Owen K. Kesecker, both of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Catherine Lutman and Gladys Butts, both of Berkeley Springs; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Emoroy Hessler; and two brothers, Perry Kesecker and Kenneth Kesecker.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Mary G. Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Lillian Kinkead Franks
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Lillian Kinkead Franks, 79, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at Heartland of Martinsburg.
Born July 5, 1919, in Clinton Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John Andrew and Beulah Blue Kinkead.
She was retired from Crown Cork and Seal in Winchester, Va.
She was a member of Hedgesville Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde F. Franks; a son, Clyde R. Franks of Martinsburg; two brothers, Robert Kinkead of Tomahawk, W.Va. and James Kinkead of Hedgesville, W.Va.; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Martha Kinkead; and two brothers, John Kinkead and Hugh Kinkead.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Pastor Andrew L. Snelson will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Mary Magdalene Chapman, 86, of Charles Town died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.
Born July 26, 1912, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Edward and Bessie Elizabeth Fellers Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Preston Chapman, in 1975.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Murrill Hill United Methodist Church in Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
She is survived by one daughter, Goldie Lee Castel of Boonsboro; five sons, William Chapman of Manassas, Va., Lewis Chapman and Robert Chapman, both of Charles Town, Ronald Chapman and Floyd Chapman, both of Harpers Ferry; two brothers, Howard F. Davis of Keedysville and Charles Davis of Charles Town; 28 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Bessie Mello, Carrie Willingham, Beck Fellers and Ida Smith; two brothers, William Davis and Johnny Davis.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 2060 Rosedale Road, Charles Town. The Rev. Lester Dillow will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.

Mary E. Frick Jones
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mary E. Frick Jones, 63, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at the home of her son.
Born July 7, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Chrissman P. Stroop and Lovie Butts Sowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Jones.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah J. Shank and Cheri Lynn Kackley, both of Martinsburg; two sons, Donald E. Frick Jr. and Terry Frick, both of Martinsburg; two sisters, D. Jean Santmier and Frances Jones, both of Martinsburg; a brother, Louis Stroop of Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Frick; and an infant sister, Peggy Ann Stroop.
Private funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. William C. Crowe officiated. Burial was in Rosedale cemetery.
