MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Carlton Lee Sencindiver, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at his home.
Born in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph Allen and Florence Grubb Sencindiver.
He attended Berkeley County schools.
He was employed by Berkeley Woolen Mills and Fairchild Aircraft. He retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways in 1981 after 20 years.
He was a life member of Moler Avenue Church of the Brethren, and had attended Salem United Methodist Church, where he held offices and taught Sunday school. He was a licensed lay speaker with the United Methodist Church.
He was a licensed minister at Moler Avenue Church. He held a number of offices at the church, including deacon and Mens Bible Class teacher.
He was a charter member of Tuscarora Ruritan Club, and had held a number of offices.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Burnett Sencindiver, whom he married
Sept. 30, 1950; a daughter, Sandra S. Long of Martinsburg; two sons, David C. Sencindiver of Martinsburg and Kirk D. Sencindiver of Milledgeville, Ga.; four granddaughters; and six nieces.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ellen Beard and Cloy Sencindiver; and two brothers, Allen Sencindiver and Joseph Sencindiver.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Moler Avenue Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Eddie H. Edmonds will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.

Brent A. Michael
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Brent Allen Michael, 56, of Hedgesville, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, at his home.
Born Feb. 5, 1942, in Baltimore, he was the son of Norma Dellarosa Michael of Baltimore and the late Joseph Michael.
He was a former Merchant Marine and a retired truck driver with Hertz and Penske.
He was a member of Berkeley Springs 1483 Loyal Order of Moose.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Georgia Shaffer Michael; a daughter, Brittnie Michael of Baltimore; a son, Scott Michael of Baltimore; five stepchildren, John Hensley and James Hensley, both of West Virginia, Edward Hensley of Hagerstown, Cathy Hensley of Robinette, W.Va., and Lisa Serio of Baltimore; three sisters, Linda Emmerich of Maryland, Gail Kratsas of New Orleans and Yolanda Breaux of Baltimore; two brothers, Joseph Michael Jr. and Glenn Michael, both of Baltimore; and 13 step-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church. Pastor Dan Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Sleepy Creek, W.Va.

Charles J. Hudock
GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - LCDR Charles Joseph Hudock, USN Ret., 77, of Gerrardstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born June 10, 1921, in Lansford, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Mary Hnat Hudock.
He entered the U.S. Navy in 1942, and served 26 years as a meteorologist in foreign countries and the United States; was with Admiral Byrd in Little America in 1946; three years in Japan during the Occupation and five years with the National Security Agency. He served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired in 1969 at Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
He then worked 16 years for EG&G in Rockville, Md.
He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church.
He was a member of Naval Weather Service Association and Gerrardstown Men's Club.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Thomas Hudock; two daughters, Patti Dmytryk of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Katie Herlihy of Belle Mead, N.J.; three sons, Stevan Hudock of Nokesville, Va., Charles J. Hudock Jr. of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Fr. Paul A. Hudock of Charleston, W.Va.; a sister, Emma Solsky of Greentown, Pa.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Cambosios and Anna Economou; and four brothers, John Hudock, Steve Hudock, George Hudock and Joseph Hudock.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian Shoda will be celebrant. Burial prayers will be in Arlington National cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, where a wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Robert W. Woods
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Robert Ware Woods, 66, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at City Hospital.
Born Nov. 5, 1932, in Memphis, Tenn., he was the son of the late Henry Hardy and Marguerite Arline Ware Thorpe Sr.
He was an artist.
A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served during the Korean War.
He was a member of Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW.
He is survived by a son, Charles Woods of Stephens City, Va., and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Thorpe.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. James W. Seeley will officiate. Burial will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Quantico National cemetery, Triangle, Va.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

John F. Speer
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - John Foster Speer, 85, of Martinsburg and formerly of Mount Sterling, Ky., died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at City Hospital.
Born in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late John F. and Mary H. Johnson Speer.
He was a 1933 graduate of Centre College, Danville, Ky.
He was a retired administrator for Norborne Nursing Home in Martinsburg. He previously was administrator of the Milwaukee County Nursing Home in Milwaukee and assistant administrator of the Wisconsin State Fair.
He was a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force. He served during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Martinsburg.
He was a member of Elks Lodge 778; and the Rotary Club.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Pemberton Speer; three sons, John P. Speer of Martinsburg, Robert J. Speer of Waukesua, Wis., and David C. Speer of San Francisco; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 27, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Martinsburg. The Rev. Jack T. Sutor Jr. will officiate, with the Rev. Margaret Raven assisting. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no visitation.
