MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Otto M. Ludwig, 88, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at Heartland of Martinsburg.
Born Dec. 8, 1910, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Henry and Augusta Haneke Ludwig.
He retired as a residential painting contractor.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He is survived by nieces and nephews, including Frank Rittershofer of Martinsburg.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Rittershofer; and two brothers, Eric Ludwig and Henry Ludwig.
Graveside services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Parkwood cemetery, Parkville, Md. The Rev. Isaac Kim will officiate.

Charles C. Risban
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Charles Curtis Risban, 73, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at George Washington Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Born May 11, 1925, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Thomas R. and Nina Pearl Decker Risban.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Virginia Brannon Risban.
He retired from the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Stout and Deborah Risban, both of Martinsburg; a sister, Audrey V. Palmer of Martinsburg; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Cecil Risban and Ralph R. Risban.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Bishop James K. Fugate will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery with military services by Berkeley Post 14, American Legion and Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Margaret A. Taylor
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Margaret Ann Taylor, 70, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at Eden Enterprises in Berkeley Springs.
Born June 12, 1928, in Berkeley Springs, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Ada Maude Roach Scott.
She was a 1946 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School. She earned a teaching degree from Shepherd College, Shepherdstown, W.Va.
She retired in 1985 as a buyer for the gourmet food department of Giant Foods in Washington, D.C. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs.
She was a member of Berkeley Chapter 77 Order of the Eastern Star and Ye Towne of Bath Chapter; and Daughters of the American Revolution, both in Berkeley Springs.
She is survived by a brother, Joseph Millard Scott of Kelseyville, Calif.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Fred Scott; a nephew, Charles Fred Scott Jr.; and a niece, Cynthia Ann Scott.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Owen B. Womack will officiate. Private burial will be in Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs. A luncheon and reception will follow the service at First United Methodist Church, 110 S. Green St., Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where there will be an Eastern Star Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m. The funeral home will be open Sunday from 10 a.m.

Rosie V. Penwell
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Rosie Violet Penwell, 75, of Harpers Ferry, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.
Born March 16, 1924, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Leonard E. and Annie Wilt Viands.
Her husband, Thomas Gordon Penwell Sr., died in 1992.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by three daughters, Ann E. Painter, Karen D. Cogle and Deborah K. Brackett, all of Harpers Ferry; two sons, Gary W. Penwell and Leonard E. Penwell, both of Harpers Ferry; one brother, Leonard E. Viands of Charles Town, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne F. Penwell and Thomas Penwell Jr.; three sisters, Ida Mae Anderson, Lillian Ott and Mildred Cline; five brothers, Theodore Viands, Carl Viands, Thomas Viands, Charles Viands and Eugene Viands; and two great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be private.
There will be no visitation.

Dolores D. Sanders
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Dolores Dakota "Dodie" Sanders, 88, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at Valley View Nursing Home, Berkeley Springs.
Born June 30, 1910, in St. George, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Amasa Suman and Hattie Leota Williams Nestor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Arles Sanders, in 1960.
She attended Schools No. 1 and No. 9 at Bull Run near Parsons, W.Va.
She worked at local canneries and seasonally at National Fruit Co. in Winchester, Va. She worked as a seamstress in her home and at Interwoven Hosiery Mill in Berkeley Springs. She was a cook at North Berkeley Elementary School and the lodge of Cacapon State Park, both in Berkeley Springs.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs, was a Sunday school teacher and a member of Ladies Aid Society.
She participated in the Morgan County Senior Center, served as dispatcher for its Meals-On-Wheels program and a member of the Kitchen Band. She was a member of Morgan Gospelaires, a gospel group with a show on WCST radio, in the 1950s. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by four daughters, Willadene J. Householder of Jacksonville, Fla., Linda C. Caldwell, L. Carol Chaney and Cathy G. DeLawder, all of Berkeley Springs; a son, Donald A. Sanders of Martinsburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Edna V. Selders of Berkeley Springs, Leota Shaffer of Sterling, Va., and Darlene J. Swaim of Culpeper, Va.; two brothers, Alfred Nestor of Lamar, Pa., and Willis Williams of Sterling; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Stephanie Householder and Timmy Sanders; a sister, Marjorie Lenora Nestor; and three brothers, Alva A. Nestor Sr., Homer E. Nestor and Gerald K. Nestor.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Harrison Avenue and Goff Street, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Wayne Frum will officiate. Burial will be in Spohrs Crossroads cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs; and Sunday at 1 p.m. at the church. The funeral home will be open Saturday from 10 a.m.

Annie M. Oden
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Annie Mary Oden, 89, of Harpers Ferry, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at Royal Haven Adult Home, Front Royal, Va.
Born June 11, 1909, in Sperryville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ernest F. and Mary Jane Atkins Dodson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Oden.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty J. Martin of Harpers Ferry; four grandchildren, Edward, David and Mary Jane Martin and Marsha Miller; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Uvilla United Methodist Church cemetery, Uvilla, W.Va. The Rev. Merlin W. Shorb will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd., Charles Town.
