BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Ida Lorraine Whittington, 71, of Berkeley Springs, died Monday, March 8, 1999, in City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Feb. 29, 1928, in Brunswick, Md., she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Compton Sherrard.
She attended public schools in Brunswick.
She was a homemaker. She worked at Interwoven Hosiery Mill in Martinsburg for 17 years and then as a nurses aide at Kings Daughters Hospital and Norbourne Nursing Home, both in Martinsburg.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Cecil Leroy Whittington; two daughters, Kay Widmeyer of Martinsburg, and Ann Eells of Berkeley Springs; one son, Charles Leroy Whittington of Great Cacapon, W.Va.; two sisters, Velda Dove and Grace Noll, both of Berkeley Springs; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Lyn Sager; three sisters and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Henry L. Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Mahnes Chapel cemetery, Morgan County, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 9 a.m.
Wilma J. Miller
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Wilma Jean Miller, 68, of Martinsburg, died Monday, March 8, 1999, at City Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Clarence G. and Freda L. Stewart Rodeheaver.
She retired from Bell Atlantic as chief operator of the Martinsburg office.
She was a member of Bedington United Methodist Church.
She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, United Methodist Women, Eastern Star Kingwood Lodge, and Loyal Order Ladies of the Moose 738.
She is survived by one daughter, Starlette Laughlin of Martinsburg; two grandsons, W.Va. Sen. John Unger of Martinsburg, and Ryan M. Unger of Augusta, Ga.; and two great-granddaughters.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. The Rev. Robert Barnes will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 5 to 8 p.m.
Julia M. Williams
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Julia M. Williams, 81, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center.
Born June 25, 1917, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Julia P. Cashman McNamee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Williams Sr.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
She was a member of Senior Womens Club, Martinsburg.
She is survived by a son, John Edward Williams of Martinsburg; a brother, James McNamee of Martinsburg; a grandson, J. D. Williams; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Vincent McNamee, Anthony McNamee and Julian McNamee.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. John V. DiBacco Jr. will be celebrant. Burial will be private.

William B. Small
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - William B. Small, 93, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at Care Haven of Berkeley.
Born Feb. 13, 1906, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Wendell Seibert and Louise Showers Small.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Kilmer Small.
He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
He was a member of Equality Lodge 44 AF & AM; past master of Royal Arch Masons Chapter 2 Martinsburg; Scottish Rite Bodies and Shenandoah Forest 150; and Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane Davis of Rippon, W.Va.; two sons, Howard A. Small of Hagerstown and Donald S. Small of Cambridge, Ohio; a brother, George Small of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Lucas; and a brother, Phillip Small.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Margaret Raven will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

Douglas Davis
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Douglas Davis, 53, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in Falling Waters, W.Va.
Born March 27, 1945, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Alex and Ada Ruth Davis and the late Mae Hull.
He attended James Rumsey Technical Institute in Hedgesville, W.Va.
He was employed by General Motors Corp. in Martinsburg, W.Va., as a fork truck driver.
A veteran of the U. S. Army, he served in the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4019; Moose Lodge 1483; American Legion Post 60; United Auto Workers Local 1590, and National Rifle Association.
He is survived by two daughters, Michele Davis and Cecile Lucchiani, both of Berkeley Springs; two sons, Alex Davis and Antonio Lucchiani, both of Berkeley Springs; a sister, Virginia Yarrish of Philadelphia; a brother, James Davis of Baltimore; a grandson; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs. Steve Dawson will officiate. Graveside military services will be conducted by Tri-State Honor Guard in Greenway cemetery in Berkeley Springs.
Viewing will be Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Wanda B. Martin
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Wanda B. Martin, 86, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born July 26, 1912, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late George Bazel and Sarah Thompson Bazel Thornburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Martin.
She was a 1931 graduate of Martinsburg High School; and a graduate of Shepherd College.
She was a retired Berkeley County school teacher.
A veteran of World War II, she served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was a member of Women's Club of Martinsburg; Democratic Club; and Daughters of America.
She is survived by a sister, Jane Thornburg Phillips of Martinsburg; nieces and nephews, including JoAnne Houghton of Winnetka, Calif., whom she raised.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Thornburg Brown.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Edward E. Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
