FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Kenneth W. Files Sr., 45, of Falling Waters, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at his home.
Born Oct. 21, 1953, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of Jeannine Lord Files Mongold of Martinsburg and the late Wayne C. Files.
He attended Johnsontown United Brethren Church.
He was a member of Martinsburg Lodge 120, Loyal Order of Moose.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Janet McDonald Files; two daughters, Susan Shepherd and Cindy Files, both of Falling Waters; two sons, Kenneth E. Files Jr. of Falling Waters, and Eric Files of Martinsburg; five sisters, Connie Hite, Jackie Butts and Tammy Shamburg, all of Martinsburg, and Belinda Silver and Marie Files, both of Hedgesville, W.Va.; four brothers, Michael Files of Martinsburg, Lyle Files of Falling Waters, Dennis Files of Montana, and Charles Files of Hedgesville; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Cathy Files; and one brother, Timmy Files.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Harold O. Snyder will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Mary Arlene Gaumond, 80, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.
Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, Winchester Grade Road, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Glenn G. Stevens Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church today.
William S. Berry Sr.
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - William Silas "Wash" Berry Sr., 74, of Charles Town, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at his home.
Born Dec. 31, 1924, in Leesburg, Va., he was the son of the late John E. and Charlotte Randall Berry Sr.
For more than 55 years, he owned and trained thoroughbred race horses at Charles Town Races and Shenandoah Downs Race Track, both of Charles Town, and tracks in Maryland and Delaware.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was a member and on the board of directors of Charles Town Division Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association. He was awarded the certificate of appreciation from the Maryland Jockey Club, presented by former Maryland Gov. William Donald Schaefer, for being the leading African-American trainer in Maryland.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lucille A. Rideoutt Berry; a son, William S. Berry Jr. of Charles Town; six sisters, Charlotte Fassette and Ada Cook, both of Middleburg, Va., Robbie Lett, Lena Edwards and Edna Randolph, all of Philadelphia, and Evelyn Brooks of Washington, D.C.; a brother, James R. Berry Sr. of Chambersburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia A. Berry, in 1985; a sister, Dorothy Thomas; and a brother, John E. Berry Jr.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Victor Lawson will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.

RANSON, W.Va. - James Walter McDonald, 83, of Ranson, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at the home of his granddaughter, Debra McDonald.
Born Feb. 25, 1916, in Bakerton, W.Va., he was the son of the late June and Leanna McDonald.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Dozier McDonald, in 1994.
He retired as a custodian at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson. He previously was employed by Halltown Paper Board Co., Halltown, W.Va.
He was a member of Duffields AME Church, Duffields, W.Va.
He is survived by three daughters, Josephine Heath and Dorothy McDonald, both of Charles Town, W.Va., and Mary Gibson of Laurel Hill, N.C.; two sisters, Nannie Jackson of Charles Town and Louise Lane of Martinsburg, W.Va; a brother, Norman McDonald of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; 20 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Della McDonald, Frances Kemp and Myrtle Allen; and four brothers, Armstead McDonald, Frank McDonald, June McDonald and Thomas McDonald.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Wainwright Baptist Church, Charles Town. The Rev. Walter Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.

George M. Harbourt
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - George Marion Harbourt, 75, of Keys Ferry Acres, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at College View Center in Frederick, Md.
Born Aug. 20, 1923, in St. Michaels, Md., he was the son of the late Samuel Frederick and Sarah Elizabeth Tarr Harbourt.
He retired as a plumbing engineer.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he received the World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and others.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothea Martha Petersen Harbourt, whom he married
in 1946; two sons, Carl Frederick Harbourt of Sterling, Va., and Paul Keith Harbourt of North Potomac, Md.; two grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frederick S. Harbourt and Harry W. Harbourt.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd., Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. Mark McClanahan will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Lincoln cemetery, Brentwood, Md.

Clarence J. Breen
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Clarence James "Jim" Breen, 81, of Tuscawilla Hills, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Oct. 23, 1917, in Chicago, he was the son of the late John Bartholomew and Clara Jensine Christiansen Breen.
He received an accounting degree from Creigton University, Omaha, Neb. He later received CPA certification.
From 1952 to 1979, he and his wife owned and operated Breen's Flowers in Houston.
A bomber pilot with the U.S. Army Air Force, he was stationed in Europe during World War II.
He was a member of Charles Town Baptist Church in Charles Town and Young of Heart Sunday School Class. He was a former member of West University Baptist Church in Houston; and a former member of First Baptist Church, Brownwood, Texas.
He was an active Lions Club Worker in Houston, for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Terrell B. Bradshaw Breen; two daughters, Candace Breen Markle of Columbia, Md., and Lenore Adele Breen of Morgantown, W.Va.; and two grandchildren, Gregory Scott Markle and Stacy Elizabeth Markle.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. Dr. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ernest M. Myers, 70, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born Nov. 12, 1928, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late George Lewis and Tessie Snyder Myers.
He was a 1947 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
He retired in 1990 from Capitol Cement after 43 years.
He was a member of Second Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher.
He was a member of NRA; and AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Miller Myers; three sons, E. Randall Myers and Stanley M. Myers, both of Martinsburg, and Daniel L. Myers of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two sisters, Edith M. Concovia and Frances C. Myers, both of Martinsburg; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl L. Myers, Paul L. Myers and Fred W. Myers.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. R. Shawn Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
