CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Harry Wade Ashcraft, 78, of Charles Town, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Aug. 17, 1920, in Upshur County, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Marshall and Blanche Howell Ashcraft.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty E. Vickers Ashcraft.
He was a retired service station owner and worked at Hyman Viener and Sons.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in World War II.
He was a member of Methodist Church.
He was a life member of American Legion Post 71 and V.F.W. Post 3522.
He is survived by two sons, Archie J. Ashcraft of Martinsburg and Edward H. Ashcraft of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Mabel Malcomb of Fort Myers and Bernie Haymond of Buckhannon, W.Va.; one brother, Sherley Ashcraft of Uxbridge, Mass.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sylophine Tennant and Arvilla Coughlin; and two brothers, Earl Ashcraft and Jefferson Ashcraft.
Arrangements are by Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson, W.Va.
Edith V.S. Frick
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Edith V. Smallwood Frick, 87, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at Heartland Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 7, 1912, in Ridgeway, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert B. And Emma Hillyard Smallwood.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Frick.
She is survived by five daughters, Hazel Penwell, Eleanor Lauffer, Margaret Vincent and Patsy Cole, all of Martinsburg, and Brenda Mason of Rio, W.Va.; two sons, Henry L. Frick, Sr. and Larry Frick, both of Martinsburg; 26 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Emma Mae Frick, one son, Donald Frick; three sisters, Erma Graham, Reva Redman, and Elsie Skelly; two brothers, Charles Smallwood and Ardel Smallwood; one granddaughter, eight grandsons, one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Dan Dugan will officiate. Burial will be in Payne's Chapel cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Costa Roncone, Jr.
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Costa Roncone, Jr., 41, of Hedgesville, died Friday, April 2, 1999, at City Hospital.
Born Jan. 15, 1958, in Cheverly, Md., he was the son of Betty Crawford Roncone of Taylorsville, N.C., and the late Costa Roncone, Sr.
He was a computer systems manager.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sara Rende Youngblood Roncone; two sisters, Mary Ann Goff of Taylorsville, and Theresa Adell Treuitlean, of Johnson, N.Y.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at noon at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. Thomas Snyder will officiate. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dorothy M. Grimm
RANSON, W.Va. - Dorothy Marie Grimm, 87, of Ranson, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Integrated Health Service of West Virginia, Charles Town, W.Va.
Born Feb. 13, 1912, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Weaver.
She was a homemaker.
She was a Protestant.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Edward A. Grimm; two sons, Elmer Kohlahafer of Florida and Charles Kohlahafer; a brother, Charles "Buck" Weaver of Texas; a close friend, Janet Hostler of Charles Town; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Regan.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Dee-Ann Dixon will officiate. Burial will be in Middleway Masonic cemetery, Middleway, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Paul A. Bull
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Paul Ambrose Bull, 69, of Hedgesville, died Friday, April 2, 1999, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Feb. 22, 1930, in Hampstead, Md., he was the son of the late Olin and Goldie Thompson Bull.
He is survived by his wife, Henrietta Parlette Bull; three daughters, Margaret Cornett of New Freedom, Pa., Esther Showalter of Havre de Grace, Md., and Mary Ruth Putman of Sykesville, Md.; four sons, James Bull of Venezuela, Lewis Bull of Middlebury Center, Pa., Sterling Bull of Red Lion, Pa., and Michael Bull of Jefferson, Pa.; five sisters, Jane Thompson and Dorothy Bosly, both of Hampstead, Ada Hale of Upperco, Md., Nancy Beall of New Oxford, Pa., and Racheal Lyons of Manchester, Md.; six brothers, Earl Bull of Shrewsbury, Pa., Floyd Bull of Littlestown, Pa., Walter Bull of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., Roland Bull of Delaware, David Bull of Pennsylvania and Howard Bull of Hampstead; 11 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Fox.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Allensville cemetery, west of Hedgesville. The Rev. Donald Preston will officiate.

Frances E. Reed
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Frances Elizabeth Reed, 85, of Martinsburg, died Monday, March 29, 1999, at her home.
Born Aug. 1, 1913, in Bunker Hill, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lawn Williams and Anna Belle Parker Williams Walker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Reed.
She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Mary Saxon and Nellie Walker, both of Martinsburg; a brother, John J. Walker Sr. of Kearneysville, W.Va.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Louise Jones, Catherine Jones, Gwendolyn Fox and Helen Fox; and a brother, Robert T. Walker.
Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Alfred E. Statesman will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 2:30 p.m. before the services at the funeral home.
Rumsey S. Unger
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Rumsey S. Unger, 92, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at his home.
Born July 8, 1906, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late James R. S. and Lula Maude Hovermale Unger.
He attended Bath District High School.
He was a farmer in Morgan County. He also formerly operated Fairmont Creamery, Farm Bureau Store, Ridge Grocery, Daisy Brand Tomato Cannery and Unger's Shopping Center. He retired in 1968.
He was a life member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church at Stotlers Cross Roads, in Morgan County. He provided leadership in construction of the original church building and the additions in 1971; and was involved in assisting the elderly and church activities.
He was a member of Deford Lodge 88 A.F. & A.M.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mildred Widmyer Unger, whom he married
May 25, 1929; two sisters, Willie E. Fearnow of Stotlers Crossroads and Bernadean Virginia Ambrose of St. Mary's, W.Va.; nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Reba Unger Michael Myers.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church. Pastor Glenn Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Church cemetery, at Stotlers Crossroads, with Masonic services.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs; and Saturday at noon at the church.
