CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - William Kenneth "Ken" McCarty Sr., 71, of Charles Town, died Monday, April 20, 1999, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.
Born Nov. 23, 1927, in Airmont, Va., he was the son of the late John William and Lula Mae Martz McCarty.
He was a graduate of Lincoln (Va.) High School.
He retired from the Metro-Transit System in Washington, D.C.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of Charles Town Presbyterian Church.
He was a member of two senior bowling leagues in Charles Town; Jackson-Perks American Legion Post 71, and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 948, both of Charles Town; Northern Virginia Senior Softball League, Fairfax County, Va.; Concord Masonic Lodge 0307, Vienna, Va.; Scottish Rite Mason; served on the board of directors of Ebenezer cemetery, Bluemont, Va.; was a member of Kena Shrine Temple, Fairfax, Va.; and a member of Kena 500 Unit "Little Autos, " Fairfax, Va.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Joyce Davis McCarty; three daughters, Deborah L. McCarty of Indianapolis, Stacey L. McKenzie of Vienna, and Amy M. French of Waterford, Va.; a son, William K. McCarty Jr. of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Sadie E. Kemp of Mount Airy, Md., and Roberta P. Underwood of Berryville, Va.; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ollie McCarty, and a brother, Robert McCarty.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Charles Town Presbyterian Church. The Rev. William Everhart will officiate. Burial will be in Ebenezer cemetery, Bluemont, Va.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. Concord Masonic Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 8:30 p.m.

Margaret F. O'Keeffe
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Margaret Frances O'Keeffe, 87, of Harpers Ferry, died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Integrated Health Services of West Virginia in Charles Town.
Born Oct. 29, 1911, in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret McGovern Denniston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Raymond O'Keeffe, in 1993.
She was employed for 30 years as an administrator of Forest Hills (N.Y.) Nursing Home.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Charles Town.
She volunteered at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.; and was a member of Women of the Moose Chapter 1028, Charles Town.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret P. Corcoran of Harpers Ferry; a son, Matthew R. O'Keeffe of Demarest, N.J.; a sister, Rose O'Neill of Manassas, Va.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Denniston.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Brian Owens will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Church cemetery, Harpers Ferry.
The family will receive friends Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Marion E. Mahone
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Marion Elaine Mahone, 74, of Charles Town, died Monday, April 19, 1999, at Hampshire Health Care Center in Romney, W.Va.
Born Jan. 15, 1925, in Charles Town, she was the daughter of the late James Edward and Ella Frances Writt Lancaster.
She attended Charles Town High School.
She had been employed as a seamstress with Perfection Garment Co. in Ranson.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Charles Town.
She was a member of Women of the Moose, Charles Town Chapter 1028, and served as senior regent.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna M. Coulter of Charles Town and Patricia M. Oates of Augusta W.Va.; one brother, Edward E. Lancaster; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Yvonne Kirk Hewitt.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 2060 Rosedale Road, Charles Town. The Rev. John Alfriend will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery in Charles Town.
Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Raymond E. Hensley
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Raymond Edward Hensley, 60, of Hedgesville, died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born March 16, 1939, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Raymond E. Hensley and Elsie Hildebrand Wolf.
He was a retired truck driver.
He is survived by four daughters, Catherine Hensley Robinette of Hedgesville, and Theda Hensley, Rachel Hensley and Vanessa Hensley, all of Maryland; three sons, John R. Hensley Sr. of Hedgesville, James F. Hensley of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Edward L. Hensley of Maryland; four half-sisters, Mary, Helen, Joan and Dawn, all of Maryland; a half-brother, Marvin Wolf of Maryland; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hensley Sr.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, River Road, Hedgesville. Pastor Dan Wright will officiate. Burial will be private.

Herman W. Plotner
INWOOD, W.Va. - Herman W. Plotner, 71, of Inwood, died Monday, April 19, 1999, at his home.
Born Sept. 26, 1927, in Hedgesville, he was the son of the late Herman D. and Lottie M. Byers Plotner.
He was a 1947 graduate of Hedgesville High School.
He retired from Corning Glass.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Martinsburg Lodge 120 Loyal Order of Moose; Berkeley Post 14 American Legion; and Eagles 824, Winchester, Va.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Shiley Plotner; a daughter, Maria L. Webster of Martinsburg; a son, Thomas S. Plotner at home; two sisters, Geraldine Laing of Hedgesville and Dolly Orsini of Inwood; three brothers, Orville L. Plotner of Hedgesville, Hayward L. Plotner and Donald P. Plotner, both of Martinsburg; a granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Imogene Rhoe and Madeline Woods; and two brothers, Victor W. Plotner and Marshall D. Plotner.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Sheril Merki will officiate. Burial will be in Bunker Hill cemetery with military services by Newton D. Baker Post 896, VFW and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Katherine Sadosky
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Katherine Sadosky, 85, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Valley View Nursing Home.
Born July 6, 1913, in Zagreb, Yugoslavia, now the Republic of Croatia, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Jucevich.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Whitey" Sadosky.
She is survived by one son, Robert W. Sadosky of Berkeley Springs.
Burial was in Lakewood Memorial Gardens in Dorseyville, Pa.
