HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Kathleen Ann Cox Kesecker, 45, of Hedgesville, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Cox.
She was a graduate of Williamsport High School in Williamsport.
She was a cook for the Berkeley County School System.
She was Catholic.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Kesecker; a brother, Charles Cox Jr. of Hagerstown; a niece, Desiree McDonald of Clarksville, Tenn.; and a nephew, Justin Watson of Hedgesville.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, 2060 Rosedale Road, Martinsburg. Pastor Dan Dugan will officiate. Burial will be in Providence Bible Church cemetery, Hedgesville.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel.

Gladys P. Knipe
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Gladys Pauline Knipe, 97, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at her daughter's home under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born Oct. 19, 1901, in Hampshire County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late DeBourney and Alberta Virginia Harris Baker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George William Knipe, Sr.
She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Janet McBee and Phyllis Johnson, both of Martinsburg, and Barbara Brittingham of Trappe, Md.; one son, G. William Knipe, Jr. of Martinsburg; one sister, Hazel Chase of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Bessie Shanholtz, Myrtle Thomas, Pearl Lamon and Cleo Cope; and two brothers, Gracen H. Baker and Roy H. Baker.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. The Rev. Jack T. Sutor, Jr., will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Virginia T. Shipley
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Virginia T. Shipley, 84, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at City Hospital.
Born Jan. 7, 1915, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John C. and Gertrude E. Ramsburg Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Burris Shipley.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America.
She volunteered regularly at City Hospital, K.D. Court, C Cap and Loaves and Fishes.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen Butts of Martinsburg; two sisters, Martha L. Anderson and Thelma L. Butts, both of Martinsburg; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Naomia L. Waddy and one brother, Charles H. Thompson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. John V. DiBacco Jr. will officiate. Interment prayers will be said at 2 p.m. in Gettysburg National cemetery, Gettysburg, Pa.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Russell A. "Petie" Miller, 78, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at his home.
Born Jan. 20, 1921, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late A.J. and Maudie Helsey Miller.
He retired from E.I. DuPont Inc.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Council No. 35 J.O.U.A.M.
He is survived by two daughters, Betty Kirby of Inwood, W.Va., and Vickie Henry of Martinsburg; two sons, Donald Lee Miller of Morgan County, W.Va., and Michael Lewis Miller of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and a close friend, Martha Lee Armbrester of Martinsburg.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Dale Miller; two sisters; and six brothers.
Services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Devin B. Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Falling Waters Presbyterian cemetery at Spring Mills.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - James J. Powell, 68, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, at City Hospital, Martinsburg. He had been a resident of Care Haven of Berkeley.
Born Nov. 28, 1930, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Jacob E. and Madeline Albert Powell.
He attended Martinsburg High School.
He was formerly employed with Potomac Edison and was the owner of Powell's Sales and Service.
He was a member of Winchester Avenue Christian Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Stacy D. Powell of Martinsburg; a son, David W. Powell of Martinsburg; three sisters, Gladys Turner of Frederick, Md., Emily Snapp and Phyllis Butler, both of Inwood, W.Va.; a brother, Ralph Powell of Martinsburg; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy P. Reid.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Timothy Butler will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

John M. McClanathan Sr.
FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - John M. McClanathan Sr., 75, of Falling Waters, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at his home.
Born Sept. 24, 1923, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harry C. and Mary L. Syster McClanathan.
He retired from West Virginia Department of Highways.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He played country music with local bands.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Anderson McClanathan; one daughter, Kathy Hendershot of Falling Waters; one son, Jay McClanathan of Falling Waters; and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one son, John M. McClanathan Jr.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. Sheril Merki will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
