Daniel W. Knipe

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Daniel William "Bill" Knipe, 36, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999.

Born Oct. 29, 1962, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Charles E. Jr. and Colleen Breeden Knipe.

He was a 1980 graduate of Hedgesville High School.

He was a carpenter; and a foreman at Charles T. Sowers Builders.

He was a member of Little Falls Presbyterian Church.

He was a member of Martinsburg Lodge 120, Loyal Order of Moose; Bear's Heil Inc.; Izaak Walter League; and was an Eagle Scout and past Scoutmaster.

He is survived by a sister, Brenda Leigh Cloud of Hedgesville, W.Va.; three brothers, Charles S. Knipe, David E. Knipe and Robert E. Knipe, all of Martinsburg; and a special friend, James Richard.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Andrew L. Snelson will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Hedgesville High School Athletic Field, c/o Hedgesville High School, Route 1, Box 89, Hedgesville, WV 25427.

Terry A. Brosius

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Terry Ann Brosius, 47, of Harpers Ferry, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at her home.

Born Jan. 12, 1952, in Niagara County, N.Y., she was the daughter of Lloyd and Joyce Griffin Wiepert of Lockport, N.Y.

She was an interior decorator; and owned Terry's Thread Room in Harpers Ferry.

She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Charles Town Lodge 948, Women of the Moose.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Ron James Borsius of Harpers Ferry; a son, Timothy Lloyd Brosius at home; a sister, Donna Kay Bailey of Wright Corner, N.Y.; and her grandmother, Mabel Griffin of Lockport, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Bailey.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Oakland United Methodist Church. The Rev. JoAnne Alexander and the Rev. Kent Tice will officiate. Burial will be in Hillsboro cemetery, Hillsboro, Va.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are by Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson, W.Va.

Pearl Z. Abrell

INWOOD, W.Va. - Pearl Z. Abrell, 74, of Inwood, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at his home.

Born June 26, 1924, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harry and Mary Morgan Abrell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Carr Abrell.

He was employed in the Security Department of W. S. Frey Quarry .

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Margaret A. Bowers of Glengary, W.Va.; a stepson, James A. Lillard of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a sister, Fern Armbrester of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; a brother, Bruce Abrell of Bunker Hill; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ruth Frye; and two brothers, Harry Abrell and Ray Abrell.

Services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Mark McDonald will officiate. Burial will be in Hedgesville cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Geneva K. Ware

BELINGTON, W.Va. - Geneva K. Ware, 86, of 708 Crim Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at her home.

Born Jan. 15, 1913, in Junior, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Rosa Corley Everson.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Newton Kirk, in 1946; and by her second husband, Ray E. Ware, in 1969.

She attended schools of Barbour County, W.Va.

She was a homemaker; she also was co-owner and operator of Ware Lumber in Belington for more than 20 years.

She was a member of Belington Church of Christ.

She was formerly a member of the board of directors of Bel-Bar Inc. and Masketeers Inc. of Belington; and was a founding member, board of directors of Barbour County Good Samaritan Center.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Lee Molnar of Hagerstown; two stepdaughters, Gail Sinsel of Junior, whom she raised, and Betty Alban of Deland, Fla.; three stepsons, Bradford Ware Sr. of Redford, Va., Odbert Ware of Belington and Marvin Ware of Windwood, Fla.; a sister, Carrie Ross of Belington; two brothers, Fredrick Everson Jr. of Montrose, W.Va., and Raymond Everson of Belington; three grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Genevieve Bonner and an infant; two brothers, Roland Everson and Willard Everson; and three stepgrandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Belington Church of Christ. Evangelists Dallas Lockheart and Jeremy Young will officiate. Burial will follow in Fraternal cemetery near Belington.

Friends will be received today from 5 to 9 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday until 11 a.m. at Talbott Funeral Home, 210 Brandenburg St., Belington. Friends may call Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mary I. Hockensmith

SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Mary Isabell Fritts Hockensmith, 84, of Flowing Springs Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at her home.

Born Sept. 9, 1914, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John Eben and Florence Rebecca McSherry Fritts.

She was a graduate of Harpers Ferry High School.

She was a partner, bookkeeper and secretary from 1943 to 1969 for Fairview Holestein Dairy Farm, a family operation, in Shenandoah Junction.

She was a member of Charles Town Presbyterian Church, was a deacon; and secretary and treasurer of the Snydor Lewis class. She helped with the church nursery and the church clothes closet.

She was a member of West Virginia Extension Homemakers Program and served Moler's Homemakers Club. She assisted with the development of 4-H programs in Jefferson County, Camp Frame Association and Jefferson County Fair Association. She was a member of Jefferson County Farm Bureau; and AARP.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Abner Bell Hockensmith; a daughter, Nancy Marie Hockensmith of Shenandoah Junction; two sons, Abner Dean Hockensmith of Shenandoah Junction and William LaMar Hockensmith of Romney, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy "Dottie" Bell Hockensmith Crowley; a sister, Blanche Elizabeth Ott; and a brother, Robert Eben Fritts.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Charles Town Presbyterian Church. The Rev. William Everhart and the Rev. Lisa Everhart will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.

Memorial donations may be made to Charles Town Presbyterian Church, 220 E. Washington St., Charles Town, WV 25414.
