KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Louis Lee Burcker, 77, of Kearneysville, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1919, at his home.
Born March 22, 1921, in Luray, Va., he was the son of the late Luther W. and Finder Jenkins Burcker.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a retired agriculture worker with the State Experimental Farm, in Kearneysville.
He is survived by two brothers, Walter B. Burcker of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., and Joseph Lee Burcker of Falling Waters, W.Va.; and a half sister, Darlene Thomas of Kearneysville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Flossie Dodson; and six brothers, Mason Burcker, Archie Burcker, Melvin Burcker, Harry Burcker, Elvis Burcker and Lawrence Burcker.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson, W.Va. The Rev. Kent Tice will officiate. Burial will be private.
Nelson B. Tonalli
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Nelson Blair Tonalli, 79, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Born Oct. 16, 1919, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Tony and Irene Mae Hensell Tonalli.
He was a 1938 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
He retired from Wal-Mart as a greeter; and was the former owner and operator of Custom Pools in Martinsburg.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Staley Tonalli; a daughter, Sandra Blair Sperry of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a brother, Tony Tonalli of Martinsburg; a granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Tonalli.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Elmwood cemetery in Shepherdstown, W.Va. Dr. G. Edward Grove will officiate.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.
Mabel V. Ambrose
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Mabel Virginia Ambrose, 94, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia, S.C.
Born Oct. 9, 1904, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John F. Sr. and Minnie M. Hovermale Weber.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rumor E. "Sam" Ambrose, in 1971.
She was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs.
She was a member of Berkeley Chapter 77 Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by a son, Douglas W. Ambrose of Columbia; a sister, Pauline McMahon of San Diego; two granddaughters, Jodi Ambrose of Sumerville, S.C., and Jennifer Dawn Ambrose of Lexington, S.C.; three great-grandsons; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Hattie Kesecker, Helen Mesner and Jessie Graham; and six brothers, Samson Weber, Hudson Weber, Fred Weber, Vernon Weber, Ercer Weber and Lawrence Weber.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs. Minister Ron Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary Ellen Braithwaite
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Mary Ellen Braithwaite, 78, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at her home.
Born Oct. 19, 1920, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Peter Harrison and Hattie Jane Henry Henry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert L. Braithwaite, in 1973.
She attended Oakland School in Morgan County.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs.
She was a member and past president of both the Ladies Aid Society and Women's Society of Christian Service at Trinity United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs.
She was a Cub Scout Den mother, director of Kitchen Band at Senior Life Services of Morgan County; and a member of North Berkeley PTA. She was a member of the Winchester, Va., Chapter of National Federation for the Blind.
She is survived by two sons, Gayle R. Braithwaite and Lewis O. Braithwaite, both of Berkeley Springs; a daughter, Linda A. Trusty of Salem, N.H.; three sisters, Dorothy Goglas of Port Reading, N.J., Amy Barnes of Winchester and Neva Tomlinson of Berkeley Springs; three brothers, Melvin Henry and Fred Henry, both of Berkeley Springs, and Irvin Henry of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; six grandsons, 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Herbert L. Braithwaite Jr.; and three brothers, Reed Henry, Lester Henry and Roscoe Henry.
Services will Saturday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. William C. Swope and the Rev. Kelly Scott will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 10 a.m.

Ramone D. Flores Jr.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ramone Donato Flores Jr., 58, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born Sept. 19, 1940, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Victoria Ayala and the late Ramone Donato Flores.
He retired after 26 years with General Motors.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Manurva Flores; a daughter, Sonia Shedd; two sons, Anatono Flores and Juan Flores; and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Maria Issa Delrio.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, 2060 Rosedale Road, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Gladys M. Murphy
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Gladys M. Murphy, 81, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born Dec. 21, 1917, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Harvey S. and Ella Keesecker Pearrell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Murphy.
She was a 1936 graduate of Hedgesville High School; and attended Martinsburg Business College.
She retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a nursing assistant.
She was a member of Hedgesville United Methodist Church, was a member of the choir, Win-One Class; and a Sunday school teacher.
She was past matron and secretary of Hedgesville Chapter 27 Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia F. Dillon, with whom she lived; a son, Garry J. Murphy of Martinsburg; three sisters, Mildred French of Cherry Run, W.Va., Mable Clarke of Jones Spring, W.Va., and Ruth Sampson of Martinsburg; a grandson; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Stotler.
Services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Terri S. Cofiell will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Hedgesville Chapter 67, O.E.S. will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
