BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Homer G. Fox, 63, of Rt. 4, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at his home.
Born March 31, 1936, in Fulton County, Pa., he was the son of the late Sanford E. and Teressa L. Hendershot Fox.
He was retired from Kirk Ford Sales, Hancock. He previously worked for Rauth Motors, Hancock, as an auto mechanic.
He attended Alpine United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs.
He is survived by one son, Rodney G. Fox of Berkeley Springs; three sisters, Lorraine Henderson, Cherly Price and Maryann McCarty, all of Berkeley Springs; two brothers, Donald Fox and Marvin Fox, both of Berkeley Springs; two grandsons and two stepgrandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Alpine United Methodist Church. The Rev. Hennis Fox will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock; and at the church Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. The funeral home will be open today from noon to 9 p.m.

John R. Anderson
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - John Richard Anderson, 64, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at Valley View Nursing Home in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born March 24, 1935, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Emery W. and Edith I. Hiles Anderson.
His wife, Mary Lou Saylor Anderson, preceded him in death.
He retired from Martinsburg Fire Department as a firefighter with 20 years at Station 5 with tours of duty at Station 1 and 4. He formerly was employed by the Berkeley County School Board as a custodian.
He was a member of Moeler Avenue Church of the Brethren.
He also was a member of Moose Club, and the Musicians Union.
A pedal steel guitar player, he performed with the Country Blue Boys and The Country Express.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by one son, Timothy W. Anderson of Hedgesville; four sisters, Sarah C. Robinson, Rosalie Largent, Betty Anderson and Bernadine Zirkle, all of Martinsburg; two brothers, Roy Anderson and Robert Anderson, both of Martinsburg; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Anderson, Charles Anderson and Bruce Anderson.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. The Rev. Malcolm Cadd will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.
James W. Eger, Sr.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - James W. Eger Sr., 77, a resident of Veterans Affairs Medical Center Nursing Home, Martinsburg, and formerly of 1099 Westgate Drive, Chambersburg, Pa., and a resident of St. Thomas, Pa., for 40 years, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born March 27, 1922, in Grapeville, Pa., he was the son of the late James D. and Margaret M. Fulmer Eger.
He attended Sacred Heart School in Jeannette, Pa.
He retired in 1984 from JC Penney, Chambersburg. Prior to that he had been employed by former Chambersburg Implement Co., Chambersburg, for many years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of General James Chambers Lodge 801 F&AM, Chambersburg, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Harrisburg, Pa., A.A.R.P. and was a life member of Charles W. McCleary Post 78, Disabled American Veterans, Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. Shank Eger, whom he married in 1943; one daughter, Judith Ann Eger of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, James A. Eger and Heather L. Myers, both of Chambersburg, and one great-granddaughter, Brittany Myers of Chambersburg.
He was preceded in death by one son, James W. Eger Jr., and an infant grandson, Terry M. Eger.
Private graveside services will be held. The Rev. John R. Springer will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Masonic services will be conducted by members of General James Chambers Lodge 801, Chambersburg.

Winstead L. Viands
RANSON, W.Va. - Winstead Lamar Viands, 21, of Ranson, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 22, 1977, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of Winstead Lee Viands of Charles Town, W.Va., and Sharon E. McNeive Painter of Ranson.
He attended Jefferson High School, Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.
He was employed by Parrish Construction Co. in New Market, Va.
He was a Baptist.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Ethel Hann of Ranson; two brothers, Mark L. Painter and Clayton L. Kirby, both of Ranson; three aunts; two uncles; a niece; cousins; and his girlfriend, Kandi Walker.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd., Charles Town. The Rev. Joann Alexander will officiate. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, one hour prior to the service.
Isabel L. Flanagan
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Isabel Louise Kern Flanagan, 87, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, at her home.
Born Dec. 18, 1911, in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles Eugene and Edna Lee Keyser Kern.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, James William "Bill" Flanagan, in 1994.
She was a 1929 graduate of Harpers Ferry High School.
She was employed by Virginia Public Service and Potomac Edison for 20 years.
She was a life member of Camp Hill-Wesley United Methodist Church in Harpers Ferry.
She was a life member of WSCS.
She is survived by three sisters, Geraldine Kern Basore of Frederick, Md., Loretta Kern Thompson of Charles Town, W.Va., and Dorothy Kern Strouse of Ranson, W.Va.; a niece; and five nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eugenia Lee Kern and Mae K. Ramey; and two brothers, Harry Eugene Kern and Charles Lee Kern.
Services will be Sunday at 3:15 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Revs. John R. Yost and M. Douglas Fraim will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown, W.Va.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
