GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - Bessie M. Teter, 76, of Gerrardstown, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born June 7, 1923, in Cass, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lewis Ellsworth and Melissa Fields Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Jerome Teter.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty M. Houseright of Gerrardstown; five sons, Gerald R. Teter, Jimmie R. Teter and Sam J. Teter, all of Gerrardstown, Jerry W. Teter of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Jack A. Teter of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Ocie Smith of North Carolina and Dorothy Anderson of Weston, W.Va.; 17 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. Burial will be in Central Chapel cemetery at Ganotown, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Charles R. Brown Sr.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Charles R. Brown Sr., 80, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Born Oct. 12, 1918, in Swan Pond, Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Burrell and Mary Grantham Brown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarissa Basey Brown.
He retired from Genesee Brewery in Rochester, N.Y.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Sarah T. Brown; five daughters, Mary E. Hoes of Charles Town, W.Va., Charlotte A. Anderson of Martinsburg, Maxine B. Hart and Janet A. Brown, both of Rochester, and Pamela O. Hawkins of Frederick, Md.; three sons, the Rev. Charles R. Brown Jr. and Douglas M. Brown, both of Inwood, W.Va., and Sherman T. Brown of Atlanta; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ella F. Glascoe and Rosie Redman; and one brother, William T. Brown.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. The Revs. Alfred E. Statesman and Charles R. Brown Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens with military services by Newton D. Baker Post 896, VFW and Berkeley Post 14, American Legion.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.
The family will meet at the home of Charlotte Anderson on Friday at 9:15 a.m.
H. Homer May
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - H. Homer May Jr., 79, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Born Nov. 21, 1919, in Bunker Hill, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harry Homer May Sr. and Catherine Getts May.
He was a route salesman for Superior Dairy and retired from Shenandoah's Pride Dairy.
He was a member of Pilgrim Presbyterian Church and an elder emeritus.
A served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts, and a member of D.A.V.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Wilburn May; nieces and nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, A. Boyd May and E. Brent May.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. Jerry Mead will officiate.
Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens with military services by Newton D. Baker Post 896 V.F.W. and Berkeley Post 14, American Legion.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Vatressa M. Miller
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Vatressa Maria Miller, 20, of Hedgesville, died in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born April 10, 1979, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Michael A. Crist and Roxanne Roser Crist of Hedgesville.
She attended Hedgesville area schools.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Christopher M. Roser, at home; grandparents, Martin Crist Jr. and Beatrice Crist of Chambersburg, Pa., and Dorothy Jensen of Blackwood, N.J.; aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 4 pm. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. Jack Rudy will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 3:30 to 4 p.m.
Thurman D. Haines
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Thurman D. "Butch" Haines, 78, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 6, 1921, in Winchester, Va., he was the son of the late Marvin D. and Ione Kidwell Haines.
He attended Handley High School in Winchester.
He retired from Corning Glass Works in 1983.
He served 12 years in the U.S. Army as a first sergeant during World War II and the Korean Conflict. His decorations included three Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts, and a Combat Medical Badge.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
He was a member of American Legion Post 202 in Williamsport.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kees Haines; one daughter, Debra Lee Haines Cornwell of Leesburg, Va.; one sister, Jaunita Wines of Winchester; two brothers, Richard Haines of Lanham, Md., and Jack Haines of Winchester; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lorraine Steward.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Central Chapel cemetery at Ganotown, W.Va. G. Edward Grove will officiate. Military services will be by Newton D. Baker Post 896, V.W.F. and Berkeley Post 14, American Legion.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Zachary Jordan Didawick, 5 months, son of George Michael Didawick and Cindy Sue Farris Stotler of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999, at his home.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Michael Lee McKinley Stotler of Berkeley Springs; maternal grandparents, Cari Farris and Bernice Farris of Great Cacapon, W.Va.; paternal grandparents, George H. Didawick Jr. and Janice F. Didawick of Berkeley Springs; and paternal great-grandmother, Hattie M. Didawick of Berkeley Springs.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs. The Revs. Kelly Scott and Dan Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Friendship cemetery in Berkeley Springs.
