Regina Dawn Riffle
Regina Dawn Riffle, 36, of Birch River, WV went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday January 26, 2010 at her home after a long illness.
She was born on September 8, 1973 in Philippi, WV. She was Site Supervisor for Tri-County Visitation Services and attended Glenville State College. She was a member of Gassaway Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Randy Riffle and daughter, Miranda Riffle of Birch River; Parents, Marvin and Dottie Perkins Rose of Birch River; Mother and Father in-law, Jerry Lynn and Beverly Riffle of Flatwoods; sisters, Paula Frame of Gassaway and Shelly Lavender of Michigan; 8 nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 6-9:00 PM on Thursday January 28, 2010 at Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home in Flatwoods, WV. At Regina’s request, she was cremated. No other services are scheduled.

Leona Massie
Leona Massie, 79 years of age of Orlando, Florida, formerly of Summersville died Monday January 25, 2010 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Price and Vada Ouickle Snyder and was born at Sutton January 8, 1931. She was a cafeteria manager for the Braxton County Board of Education at Little Birch Elementary. She attended New Life Assembly and Emmanuel Baptist Church in Summersville. She was also preceded in death by her husband George Massie, sisters Eva Snyder and Juanita Shaw. Surviving: 2 Daughters, Georgetta Massie of Orlando, Florida and Debbie Sparks of Summersville; and Grandson, Michael Sparks. Funeral services were conducted Friday January 29, 2010 at 1 p.m. in New Life Assembly at Summersville with Pastor Dennis Chasteen and Pastor Gene Campbell officiating. Burial followed in the Braxton County Cemetery at Flatwoods. Friends called at the church one hour prior to service on Friday. The Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville is in charge of arrangements. Darrell Eugene Wilson, Jr.
Darrell Eugene “Timmy” Wilson, Jr., 47, of Heaters died January 24, 2010 at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston. Timmy was born on April 23, 1962 in Sutton to Barbara Utt Wilson & the late Darrell Eugene Wilson, Sr.
Timmy worked as a Mechanic before being disabled. He was a protestant by faith. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; John D. & Nina Utt, and his paternal grandparents; Lee & Kelsey Wilson.
Timmy is survived by his wife Barbara Teter Wilson, children; Justin Lee & Sienna Mae Wilson both at home, Jeremy Fincham of Culpepper, VA. , Mother & stepfather; Barbara & Lynn Cabaniss of Smith Mt. Lake, VA, his brother and sister James Lee Wilson and Pamela Kay Blankenbaker both of Martinsburg, WV.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 1:00pm at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Shaw officiating. Burial followed in the Poplar Ridge Cemetery, near Sutton. Friends called on Wednesday from 6-8pm.

Lucy Hutchison
Lucy Hutchison, 98, of Stone Run Road, Flatwoods, WV passed away at her home on Wednesday morning Sept. 23, 2009.
Lucy was born at Corley, WV on aril 3, 1911, the eldest child of the late Oley Clark and Willa Ann Eubank Hutchison. She was a lifelong Christian and a member of the Stone Run United Methodist Church. She was a fifty-year member of the Braxton and Harrison County Extension Homemakers. Lucy graduated from Sutton High School and later worked during WW II for Goodrich Rubber Co. in Akron, OH. She moved back to Clarksburg and became a domestic helper often living with and helping the elderly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Arlie Hutchison, Ada Ruth Hutchison and Martha Pearl Cartee as well as three brothers, Dana Hutchison, Lloyd Hutchison and Willis Hutchison.
Lucy is survived by two sisters, Mary Ann McClure of Elkview and Bertha Cogar of Flatwoods, WV as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday Sept. 26, 009 at Stockert-Gibson-Sizemore Funeral Home in Flatwoods with the Rev. Vaughn James and Rev. Dana Friend officiating. Burial was in Stone Run Cemetery, Flatwoods. Friends called from 6 – 8:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Stone Run Cemetery, 1617 Stone Run Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621 for its upkeep.
Bobby Eugene Conrad
Bobby Eugene Conrad, 52, of Burnsville, WV died at home on Sunday Sept. 20, 2009.
Bobby was born in Sutton on June 27, 1957. He worked many jobs, from Pennline, Asplundh and WV Dept. of Highways. He we a co-owner of a greenhouse and was currently employed by Precision Services. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening, and his real love was flowers. He was one of the most talented musicians around. He could play anything with strings. Bobby’s talent was often compared to that of Doc Watson and Peter Rowan, who were two of his musical inspirations.
He is survived by a loving wife, Rebecca Anne Williams Conrad; his mother Avis Conrad and his father, Harry Brown. Bobby was preceded in death by his only son, Joshua, who died earlier this year at the age of 19 and also by his maternal grandparents, Cleve and Isa Conrad and paternal grandparents, Lesley and Jane Brown.
He was loved by all and will be missed by so many.
Funeral services were held at 6:30 PM on Wednesday Sept. 23, 2009 at Stockert-Gibson-Sizemore Funeral Home in Flatwoods, WV with Rev. Delmas Singleton officiating.

Harold F. Mathews
Harold F. Mathews, 94, of Chapel Road, Gassaway, passed away December 22, 2009 at Braxton Health Care Center, Sutton. He had previously lived in New Jersey for many years.
He was born March 11, 1915 in New Jersey a son of the late Orville and Elsie Mathews.
He was preceded in death by brother, Donald Mathews and sister, Grace Radcliff.
Harold worked in a CCC Camp, was a park ranger in Matawan, NJ; he built by himself the Timberland Campground in NJ; worked for the New Jersey State Highway Dept. and for the Frenchtown Park in Frenchtown, NJ. He was the supervising park ranger for the Voorhees State Park in Voorhees, NJ. He truly loved the outdoors.
He is survived by wife, Alice Kymer Mathews of Yardville, NJ; daughters, Shirley Fowler of Little Egg Harbor, NJ and Sandra Thomas of Kintersvill, PA; sister, Doris Stevenson of Somers Point, NJ; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
At Mr. Mathews’ request his body will be cremated.

EmoGene Radcliff Cogar
EmoGene Radcliff Cogar passed away on December 10, 2009 in Cleveland, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Cogar; her parents Roy and Ruth Radcliff of Gassaway, WV; 2 sisters Wave Granett and Veda Radcliff; and 1 brother James Radcliff.
She was the mother of 4 children, Victor, Mark and Kelly Cogar and 1 daughter Bonnie Titchenell all of Cleveland Ohio; sister of 11, Rosie Hissam, Pam Myers, Bill Radcliff, all of Cleveland, Ohio, Cathy Meadows of Canvas, WV, Bob Radcliff of Nettie, WV, Ronnie Radcliff and Randy Radcliff of Gassaway, WV and Mike Radcliff of Richmond, VA; and grandmother of 10.
Funeral services were on December 14, 2009 at Bollinger Funeral Home and burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio.
John A. Kidwell, Jr.
John A. Kidwell, Jr., 44, of Winchester, VA, died December 20, 2009 at the home of his mother. He was born June 25, 1965, in Wilmington, VA, a son of Dottie King Kidwell and the late John Arthur Kidwell, Sr. Also preceding him in death were paternal grandparents Oliver Kidwell & Elsie Bowen; and maternal grandparents Royal & Virginia King.
He was a truck driver for Owens & Dove Excavating.
He is survived by 2 sons Mathew Kidwell of Strasburg, VA and Joseph Kidwell of Inwood, WV; his mother, Dottie Kidwell of Manassas, VA; 3 brothers Andy King of Silver Springs, MD; and Martin & David Kidwell both of Manassas, VA; step-sister Mary Grierson of Maryland; cousin April Davis who was like a sister to him; and very special friend Cindy Killebrew.
He was also looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild in March.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV with Rev. Bobbie Harper officiating. Burial was in the King-Smallwood Cemetery at Birth River, WV. Friends called Saturday, December 26 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edward Eugene Evans Edward Eugene Evans, 71, of Sutton, WV died December 19, 2009 at his residence. He was born May 23, 1938 in Nicholas County, WV, a son of the late Richmond Martin & Rosie Lee Wilson Evans.
He was a retired disabled mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Evans; 2 sons Paul S. Evans of Gassaway and Steven Herold Evans of Sutton; 3 brothers Ezra Evans of Pennsylvania , John Evans of Craigsville and Lloyd Evans of Richwood; and 2 grandchildren Talon Evans and Trevor McKinney.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 24, 2009 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV with Rev Bobbie Harper officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Birch River, WV. Friends called one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Alan L. Rose
Mr. Alan L. Rose, 73, of Alpharetta, GA died September 6, 2010. Alan, originally from Sutton WV, lived in many diverse places from Minnesota, Kansas, Alaska, and Beaune, France. More recently he resided in Alpharetta, Georgia. Alan, a graduate from Sutton High School, later obtained a Bachelor’s of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired as a Captain from Northwest Airlines, where he was recognized for his direct support missions to Operation Desert Storm. He is survived by his three children, Steven, Anthony and Angela and his three grandchildren Lydia, Noah and Ashley. There was a visitation service on Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 4pm to 6pm at SouthCare Cremation Society and Memorial Center 2260 Old Milton Parkway, Alpharetta, GA 30009. The Memorial Service was held Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Alpharetta Presbyterian Church 180 Academy Street, Alpharetta, GA 30009. In lieu of
