MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Gene A. Pingley, 65, of U.S. 4, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at his home.
Born June 11, 1934, in Strasburg, Va., he was the son of the late Guy A. and Martha Orndorff Pingley.
He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Family Life Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Coldsmith Pingley; a brother, Irvin Pingley of Front Royal, Va.; an aunt; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Earl Litman will officiate. Burial will be in Salem cemetery in Chambersburg, Pa.
Ark P. Fox Sr.
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Ark Perry Fox Sr., 52, of U.S. 3, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, at his home.
Born Dec. 17, 1946, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Lawrence Russell and Leola Louise Nevel Fox.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Fox.
He was a brick mason.
He is survived by a son, Ark Perry Fox Jr. of Hedgesville; eight sisters, Bivian Henry, Darla Waugh, Elner Michael, Bonnie Fritts, Melva McDonald and Vicki Bayer, all of Hedgesville, Arlazee Elliott of Martinsburg and Mary Adelman of Inwood, W.Va.; four brothers, Guy W. Fox, Dale S. Fox, Jay M. Fox and Kevin Fox, all of Hedgesville; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen Lee Fox and Arch V. Fox.
Family and friends may attend a memorial service, which will be today at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. Jack Rudy will officiate.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ruth Regina Cloud, 94, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born April 9, 1905, she was the daughter of the late George and Lillian Palmer Mercer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Cloud.
She was employed by Berkeley Upholstery for 25 years, retiring at the age of 85.
She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy J. Boutyard of Martinsburg; two grandchildren, Stephen C. Boutyard and Trina R. Stegal; two great-grandchildren; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda McCormick; a half sister, Florence McCauley; and a half brother, Charles Palmer.
Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.

GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - Max Raymond Aikens, 79, of Gerrardstown, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Sept. 16, 1919, in Gerrardstown, he was the son of the late John Luther and Annabelle Weidman Aikens Sr.
He spent several years working for J. B. Campbell Co. in Conshohocken, Pa., later moving back to Gerrardstown. He retired from the Berkeley County school system in 1983 after 12 years of service.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific in the Amphibious Unit.
He was a member of Gerrardstown United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Berkeley Post No. 14 American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Horisk Aikens, whom he married
in 1954; two brothers, John Luther Aikens Jr. and Boyd Robert Aikens, both of Martinsburg; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary V. Abrell, Sylvia Jean Benner and Katherine M. Lowther; and a brother, Willard Aikens.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Gerrardstown United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sandra L. Lasher will officiate. Burial will be in Gerrardstown Presbyterian cemetery with military graveside services by Newton D. Baker Post No. 896 VFW and Berkeley Post No. 14 American Legion.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. Visitation also will be Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the church.
