INWOOD, W.Va. - Carlton E. "Red" Masters, 69, of Inwood, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at his home.
Born July 21, 1930, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles S. and Eva Heironomus Masters.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Mary B. Lawson Masters.
He was retired from E.I. Dupont; and owned Masters Hardware and Mobile Home Supplies.
He was a veteran.
He was a Protestant.
He was a member of Martinsburg Lodge 120 Loyal Order of Moose, Martinsburg J.O.U.A.M. and Farm Bureau in Martinsburg, W.Va.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Spriggs Masters; one daughter, Terry Ann Taylor of Inwood; one stepdaughter, Tina Boarman; one stepson, Christopher Bivans; three sisters, Marie Farmer of Winchester, Va., Minerva Wisecarver and Dorothy Milburn, both of Martinsburg; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Sue Masters; a sister, Mary Tabler; two brothers, Robert Masters and Charles E. Masters; and two half sisters, Eleanor Milburn and Madeline Hoover.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Rest cemetery, Frederick County, Va. The Revs. Raymond R. Martin and Ray Ring will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.

Laura E. Gallagher
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Laura Elizabeth Gallagher, 50, of Shannondale, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at her home.
Born July 15, 1949, in Providence, R.I., she was the daughter of John James and Elizabeth H. Collamore Gallagher of Cape Coral, Fla.
She was a graduate of Groveton (Va.) High School; abd received an associate's degree from Colorado Mountain College.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Catholic faith.
She was a member of Sleepy Hollow Golf and Country Club Ladies Golf Association in Charles Town, W.Va.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 13 years, Dennis F. Wright; a sister, Susan Orndorff of Hanover, N.H.; three brothers, Donald Gallagher and John Gallagher, both of Whitestone, Va., and Charles Gallagher of Weems, Va.; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 311 S. George St., Charles Town. The Rev. Brian Owens will officiate. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends Saturday at noon at the church.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Spencer Lee Mills, 4 months, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
Born June 9, 1999, in Winchester, Va., he was the son of Lynn E. and Jane Dennis Mills of Martinsburg.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three brothers, E. Turner Mills, Blake W. Mills and Andrew S. Mills, all at home; and his paternal grandmother, Geneva Mills of Martinsburg.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, C. E. and Bootsie Dennis, and Jack E. Mills.

William R. Williams Sr.
FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - William R. Williams Sr., 57, of Paradise Valley Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at his home.
Born March 27, 1942, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of Estey and Juanita Shrout Williams.
He worked for Roadway Express in Hagerstown for 21 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Reynolds Williams, whom he married
Feb. 27, 1959; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Bryan of New Market, Md.; a son, William R. Williams Jr. of Inwood, W.Va.; a sister, Carolyn Sue Michael of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Shenandoah Memorial Park. Pastor Cary Moorman will officiate. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester, Va.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, 228 S. Pleasant Valley Road, in Winchester.
Henry G. Ortel
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Henry George Ortel, 77, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Born Nov. 6, 1921, in Colgate, Md., he was the son of the late George and Mary Altavoght Ortel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda W. Ortel.
He was a retired salesman for Standard Coffee Corp.
He is survived by a daughter, Margaret S. Renew of Martinsburg; a son, George J. Seidle Jr. of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; and a brother, Walter Ortel of Baltimore.
Graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. at Bunker Hill cemetery.

Richard A. Kaufman
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Richard Allen Kaufman, 55, of Berkeley Springs, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.
Born Aug. 2, 1944, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Harry and Marcella Thompson Kaufman.
He attended public schools in Peters Township, Pa.
He served two tours of duty with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Purple Heart.
He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in Berkeley Springs.
He was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60; and Risinger-Stotler VFW Post 4019, both in Berkeley Springs.
He is survived by a daughter, Devon N. Kaufman-Whittington of Berkeley Springs; a sister, Marcella Petersavage of St. Clairsville, Ohio; two brothers, Harry Kaufman Jr. of Pittsburgh and Leonard Petersavage of Front Royal, Va.; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The funeral liturgy will be conducted Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 116 S. Washington St., Berkeley Springs. The Revs. John S. Ledford and Patrick J. Gillooly will officiate. Burial with military honors will be Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. at Arlington National cemetery in Arlington, Va.
The family will receive friends Monday, Oct. 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The funeral home will be open Monday from 10 a.m.
