BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Howard Joseph Myers Sr., 87, of Berkeley Springs, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at his home.
Born Aug. 12, 1912, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late George Myers.
He retired from the maintenance department of Baltimore County government.
He was a 50-year member of Corinthian Masonic Lodge 93, Gleaner Chapter 49, Order of the Eastern Star and Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara L. Ferguson of Florida; three sons, Donald L. Myers of Berkeley Springs, Gordon L. Myers of Pasadena, Md., and Howard J. Myers Jr. of Essex, Md.; two sisters, Ruth Beale of Wilmington, Del., and Eve Turney of Fallston, Md.; 25 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, 7922 Wise Ave., Dundalk, Md. The Rev. William Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Local arrangements are by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.
William E. Wills Jr.
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - William Earl Wills Jr., 70, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.
Born in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Earl Wills Sr. and Naomi Whitford Wills.
He was employed by Kentron International Inc., Hagerstown, as a communications electronics engineer for more than 30 years.
He retired in 1962 from the U.S. Army. He was a Korean War veteran.
He attended Calvary Bible Church, Berkeley Springs.
He was a member of American Legion Post 60 and VFW Post 4019.
He is survived his wife, Berniece Michael Wills; two sisters, Glenna Henry of Berkeley Springs and Gail Kesecker of Englewood, Fla.; a brother, Eugene Wills of Englewood; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. James Downey will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
Graveside military services will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Winifred E. Tonalli
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Winifred E. Tonalli, 85, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at City Hospital.
Born Jan. 30, 1914, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Nellie Miller Hockenberry.
She was a graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Tony Tonalli Jr.; a daughter, Ann Tonalli at home; a sister, Margaret Tonalli of Martinsburg; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Hockenberry and Helen Hockenberry, and two brothers, Claude Hockenberry and Buck Hockenberry.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Walter F. Bowers will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
Helen L. Vickers
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Helen L. Vickers, 72, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at her home.
Born April 16, 1927, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Lena Walker Young.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Newton Vickers Jr.
She retired in January 1999 as chief deputy in the Berkeley County Clerk's Office, where she had been employed since 1961. She was the first woman chief deputy in that office and had been a chief deputy since 1971.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
She was a charter member of Martinsburg Lioness Club and was involved in Martinsburg Lions Club activities.
She was a member of Golden Rule Chapter 69, Order of the Eastern Star; VFW Ladies Auxiliary; United Commercial Travelers Ladies Auxiliary; Ladies Republican Club; Berkeley County Republican Club and West Virginia County Clerks Association.
She is survived by one daughter, Constance Vickers Styer of Clarendon Hills, Ill.; one sister, Ruth O. Buffington of Martinsburg; two brothers, John H. Young Jr. of Hagerstown and Robert Young of Ashtabula, Ohio; two grandsons; one great-grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Terry L. Vickers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. James D. Riley Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery, Shepherdstown, W.Va.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mary F. Hite
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mary Frances Hite, 63, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at City Hospital.
Born May 10, 1936, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Andrew Ross and Mary Ellen Harris LeMaster.
She was a graduate of Hedgesville (W.Va.) High School.
She was a member of Bedington United Methodist Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Catherine H. Knipe and Janice H. Davis, both of Martinsburg, M. Susan Rude of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Mary F. Grubbs of Chambersburg, Pa.; two sons, James W. Hite of Hedgesville and Charles Hite at home; two sisters, Helen Bradford of Arlington, Va., and June Matthews of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Hite.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Revs. Robert W. Barnes and Robert Oertly will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
