James W. Kontra

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - James W. Kontra, 30, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 18, 1969, in Norristown, Pa., he was the son of Andrew and Sandra Rahm Kontra of Pottstown, Pa.

He was employed by GTE in McLean, Va.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He attended Independent Bible Church.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Julie Jones Kontra; a daughter, Tara Kontra at home; a son, Dylan Kontra at home; a sister, Tammi Kontra of Hagerstown; and a brother, Trent Kontra of Pottstown, Pa.

A memorial service will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at Independent Bible Church. The Rev. Brent Alderman will officiate.

Graveside services will be today at 1 p.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens with military services conducted by members of Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW, Berkeley Post 14 American Legion and Amvets Post 38.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.

James W. Kontra

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - James W. Kontra, 30, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Brent Alderman will officiate.

Military graveside services will be held by Newton D. Baker Post 896, VFW, Berkeley Post 14, American Legion and Amvets Post 38.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

Ellen G. Dinteman

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ellen G. Dinteman, 83, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at Care Haven of Berkeley in Martinsburg.

Born Oct. 18, 1916, in Bunker Hill, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Paris Fink and Viola Leah Crim Dinteman.

She was employed by Harry M. Stevens Co.

She was a member of Cedar Grove Christian Church.

She is survived by two sisters, Ruby Coleman and Reva Morrison, both of Martinsburg; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Max L. Dinteman.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

C. Miller Eaton

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - C. Miller Eaton, 82, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at Integrated Health Services in Charles Town, W.Va.

Born Aug. 29, 1917, in Rockingham County, Va., he was the son of the late Charles and Rose Ella Morris Eaton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Morris Eaton.

He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of Full Gospel Pentecostal Church at Four Miles Woods.

He is survived by four stepsons, the Rev. Arnold Gooden of Thurmont, Md., Preston Gooden, Wayne Gooden and Lawrence Gooden, all of Martinsburg; four sisters, Lettie Shifflett of Elkton, Va., Anna Slayton, Cora Bradshaw and Clara White, all of Martinsburg; three brothers, Thomas Eaton, Russell Eaton and Raymond Eaton, all of Martinsburg; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, including niece, Glenda Morris, whom he raised.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Revs. Raymond E. Jones and Arnold W. Gooden will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Rita G. Kupperblatt

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Rita Germaine Kupperblatt, 64, of Berkeley Springs, and formerly of Marlboro, N.Y., died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at her home.

Born March 28, 1935, in Derbyline, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ida Carrignan Blais.

She retired as an electrical technician from IBM in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

She served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Berkeley Springs, and served as Eucharistic minister.

She volunteered with the PASS program at Greenwood Elementary School.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Marvin Irvin Kupperblatt; two daughters, Debbie Bogdanski of Middletown, N.Y., and Audrey O'Neill of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; two sons, Kevin Kupperblatt of Marlboro and Gary Kupperblatt of Belle Meade, N.J.; two sisters, Gisele Kerner of Newport, Vt., and Carmen Blais of Littleton, N.H.; five brothers, Russell Blais, Armand Blais, Romeo Blais and Robert Blais, all of Newport, Vt., and Guy Blais of Hartford, Conn.; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Marcel Blais.

Funeral liturgy will be offered today at 3 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 116 S. Washington St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. John S. Ledford will be celebrant.

Private burial will be in St. Edwards cemetery in Derbyline.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Arrangements are by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.

Earl M. Widmeyer Jr.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Earl Mason Widmeyer Jr., 72, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center.

Born April 8, 1927, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Earl Mason Widmeyer Sr. and Orpha Butler Widmeyer.

He retired from Handy and Harmon.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Wertman Widmeyer; three sons, Earl M. Widmeyer III, William T. Widmeyer and David W. Widmeyer, all of Martinsburg; two sisters, Eleanor Waters of Weston, W.Va., and Elsie Keesecker of Martinsburg; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Widmeyer.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
