Wilford R. Scott

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Wilford Raymond Scott, 68, of Kearneysville, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.

Born May 25, 1931, in Folsom, W.Va., he was the son of the late Walter Raymond and Gypsy Jacqueline Snodgrass Scott.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Zelleapheane Deel Scott.

He was employed as a police officer in Keyser, W.Va.; and he was a retired corporal of the Special Police Officers for National Geographic in Gaithersburg, Md.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1540 in Rockville, Md.; West Virginia's Sheriff's Association; and National Rifle Association.

He is survived by two daughters, Darlene Robertson of Cumberland, Md., and Tammy J. Kusluch of Lexington Park, Md.; a son, Wilford R. Scott II of Smithfield, W.Va.; a stepdaughter, Zelleapheane Siviero of Charles Town, W.Va.; four stepsons, Leonard Siviero and Nick Siviero, both of Atlanta, Frank Siviero of Dallas and Thomas Siviero of Lancaster, Pa.; a brother, James Scott of Ohio; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Mildred Scott and Mary Janette Scott.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home in Ranson. Dr. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

Lois E. Robison

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Lois Evelyn Wishert Robison, 97, of Charles Town, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at Canterbury Center in Shepherdstown, W.Va.

Born Oct. 5, 1902, in Dallas, she was the daughter of the late Allen Wishert and Effie Fortune Dodd.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Emerson Benton.

She was a telephone operator in Dallas.

She was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by a son, Raymond Benton at home; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Mervin V. Benton and Philip Benton; and two sisters, Agnes Harrison and Dorothy Greco.

There will be a private memorial service.

Burial will be in Saint Mary's of the Mills cemetery in Laurel, Md.

Arrangements are by Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home in Ranson.

Evelyn K. Brown

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Evelyn K. Brown, 88, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at Loudoun County Hospital in Leesburg, Va.

Born May 13, 1911, in Loudoun County, she was the daughter of the late Henry L. and Lillie May Gant Titus.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifton R. Kirby; and her second husband, Charles M. Brown, in 1992.

She retired from Gibson Co. as an orthopedic fitter.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by a son, Joseph A. Kirby of Statesboro, Ga.; a stepdaughter, M. Ann Koncer of Martinsburg; three sisters, Polly Butler of Winchester, Va., Hannah Rhodes of Woodstock, Va., and Mae Hoffman of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a brother, Alvin Titus of Lincoln, Va.; and a grandson.

Graveside services will be today at 11 a.m. at Union cemetery in Leesburg. The Rev. James Embrey will officiate.

Wilma E. Hovermale

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Wilma Elizabeth Hovermale, 63, of Berkeley Springs, died on Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center.

Born June 8, 1936, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James Albert and Mary Elizabeth Shriver Harden.

She attended Great Cacapon Elementary and Berkeley Springs High Schools.

She retired in 1989 from Warm Springs Restaurant, Berkeley Springs, as a cook after 30 years of service. She also worked at Interwoven Hosiery Mill, Berkeley Springs during the 1950s and she had been a homemaker in recent years.

She was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Kenneth Christopher Hovermale; one son, Randy K. Hovermale of Berkeley Springs; three sisters, Lola Mae Unger, Freda Voneda Swink and Norma Lee Offord, all of Berkeley Springs; one brother, James A. Harden Jr. of Berkeley Springs; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Lester William Harden.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Hennis H. Fox will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church cemetery, Berkeley Springs.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends the funeral home will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Robert S. Tinsman

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Robert Sylvester Tinsman, 72, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Born March 14, 1927, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Harry and Mable Tinsman.

He served in the U.S. Army, having served in World War II.

He was a member of the Moose.

He is survived by one daughter, Betty Tinsman of Frederick, Md.; two sons, Bruce Tinsman of Martinsburg and Robert L. Tinsman of Laurel, Md.; four sisters, Margaret Johnson of Strasburg, Pa., Jean Brownlee of Sterling, Va., Elizabeth Burkhardt of Falls Church, Va. and Ethel Austin of Toms River, N.J.; one brother, Douglas Tinsman of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Argiropolous and Bessie Austin; four brothers, Phillip Tinsman, Raymond Tinsman, Wallace Tinsman and William Edward Tinsman.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Rosedale cemetery. The Rev. Don Austin will officiate.

Arrangements are by Rosedale Funeral Chapel, Martinsburg.

Daniel R. Thomas

GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. - Daniel Ray Thomas, 42, of Great Cacapon, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born March 15, 1957, in Bartow, Fla., he was the son of Harvey Lee and Mary Magdalene Shults Thomas of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.

He was a 1975 graduate of Lawrence County High School, Lawrenceburg, and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Illinois, Champaign, Ill.

He retired April 28, 1999, from the U.S. Air Force as a surgical service technician. He also served as secretary of the Air Force Sergeant's Association.

He was a member of Love Assembly of God, Berkeley Springs.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 17 years, Dixie Darlene Kidwell Thomas; two daughters, Dawn Jacobsen of Travis Air Force Base, Calif., and Christin Thomas of Great Cacapon; one son, Christopher Thomas of Great Cacapon; one sister, Janice Francis of Lawrenceburg; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Gregory Perkins and the Rev. Dave Kidwell will officiate. Burial will be in Lindsay Grove Church of God cemetery, Leoma, Tenn.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
