HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Margaret Edelin Elms Tepper, 87, of Harpers Ferry, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at her home.
Born in 1912, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late James S. and Pauline Hocheisen Elms.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Harold Tepper.
She was a graduate of George Washington University.
She taught English in the District of Columbia school system.
She led discussions with Great Books program; and wrote short stories that were published.
She was involved with Charles Town Book Club; Jefferson County Historical Society and Shannondale Garden Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Beatrice N. Tepper of Ames, Iowa; a son, Michael J. Tepper of Harpers Ferry; a sister, Barbara Cotchan of Woodbridge, Va.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Graveside services will be Monday, Dec. 13, at 12:30 p.m. at Arlington National cemetery in Virginia.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Anna M. Gillinger Tafarella, 97, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at Heartland of Martinsburg.
Born Aug. 31, 1902, in Hungary, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Maria Scucs Gillinger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Tafarella, in 1982.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas; and Senior Citizens.
She is survived by two daughters, Eleanor Bernas of East Windsor, N.J., and Helen Severs of Martinsburg; a brother, Louis Gillinger of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Albergo; an infant daughter; three sisters, Margaret Ryan, Mary Toth and Helen Dunham; and a brother, Geza Gillinger.
Services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. John V. DiBacco Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Leatha G. Stotler
OAKLAND, W.Va. - Leatha Geneva Stotler, of Oakland, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at her home.
Born Nov. 28, 1918, in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Tamson Spielman Stotler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph William Stotler, in 1998.
She attended West Branch School in Morgan County, W.Va.
She retired in 1980 from the housekeeping department of Cacapon State Park Resort and Lodge. She had been a homemaker in recent years.
She was a member of Berkeley Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Marie Stotler Shoemaker, Ruth Stotler Daniels and Bernadine Stotler Hobday, all of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; three sons, Wilson Stotler, Raymond Stotler and Richard Stotler, all of Berkeley Springs; a brother, Roscoe Stotler of Berkeley Springs; seven granddaughters; seven grandsons; eight great-granddaughters; seven great-grandsons; two great-great-grandsons; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ervie Unger and Millie Mason; and eight brothers, Perry Stotler, Lloyd Stotler, Thaniel Stotler, Flim Stotler, Glenn Stotler, Bartol Stotler, Ardell Stotler and an infant brother.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St. in Berkeley Springs. Pastor Brian D. Jones and Pastor Hennis H. Fox will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open today from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the convenience of friends.

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Ruth E. Miller, 81, of Hedgesville, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Oct. 16, 1918, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Bessie Middleton Norris.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Cecil E. Miller, in 1998.
She was a homemaker and she had retired from the Berkeley County School System as a cook for Hedgesville High School.
She was a member of Hedgesville Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Kathleen Fowlkes of Annandale, Va., Sharon L. Ring of Martinsburg, Ruth A. Donaldson and Evelyn M. Sine, both of Hedgesville; four sons, Charles E. Miller of Martinsburg, Cecil A. Miller, Gilbert D. Miller and Harry J. Miller, all of Hedgesville; a sister, Mary Ellen Smith of Warfordsburg, Pa.; 27 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Miller; seven sisters, Lucy Hensley, Emma Norris, Helen Coonrod, Julia Norris, Maude Norris, Leona Norris and Marion Gordon; six brothers, Walter Norris, Isaac Norris, Harry Norris, Eugene Norris, Robert Norris and Rodney Norris; a granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Orpha V. Waugh, 75, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.
Born Feb. 10, 1924, in Brosius, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Minnie Mae McCarty Plotner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. "Joe" Waugh, in 1988.
She retired as a seamstress and supervisor. She had been employed by Jacob Brothers Inc.; Clair Frock; and Londontown Corp. in Hancock.
She was a member of Alpine United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Portia Truax of Chambersburg, Pa.; a son, Gary Waugh of Berkeley Springs, two sisters, Marguerite Unger of Berkeley Springs and Marie Smith of Lyons, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; two sisters, Bessie Apple and Pearl Trail; and a brother, Sterling Plotner.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St. in Hancock. The Rev. Steve Dawson will officiate. Burial will be in Alpine United Methodist cemetery in Berkeley Springs.
