CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Joseph W. "Joe" Everts, 52, of Charles Town, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at his home.
Born Oct. 17, 1947, in Charles Town, he was the son of the late Joseph Miller and Catherine J. Kellson Everts.
He retired from the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va. He had been employed by Francis Scott Key Mall in Frederick, Md.; New Central Restaurant in Charles Town; Howard Johnson's in Charles Town; and Mildred's Market in Ranson, W.Va.
He attended Zion Episcopal Church in Charles Town.
He was a social member of VFW Memorial Post 3522 of Charles Town.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Merring Everts; an aunt and an uncle.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn D. Everts.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Edge Hill cemetery in Charles Town. The Rev. John Alfriend will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are by Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
William Rockwell
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - William Rockwell, 73, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at his home.
Born Nov. 30, 1926, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late William and Ella Files Rockwell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma L. Hibbert Rockwell.
He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School.
He retired from the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center; and formerly was employed by B&O Railroad.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
He was a member of Martinsburg Lodge 120, Loyal Order of the Moose.
He is survived by two sons, William N. Rockwell of Hedgesville, W.Va. and James F. Rockwell of Stephens City, Va.; a half-brother, Charles Jones of Maryland; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Patrick Rockwell; and a sister.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. James D. Riley Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery with military services by Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW, and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Joseph R. Brown
KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Joseph R. Brown, 67, of Kearneysville, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born March 15, 1932, in Reading, Pa., he was the son of the late Grover and Bessie M. Hill Brown.
He was a self-employed electrician and plumber.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by two daughters, Sally M. Fravel of Kearneysville and Linda R. Brown of Martinsburg; a son, Larry R. Brown Sr. of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a sister, Ellen Becker of Pennsylvania; five brothers, Robert Brown, Donald Brown and Ken Brown, all of Pennsylvania, Carl Brown of California and Eddie Brown of Arizona; and five grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
Margaret Ferguson
FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Margaret Ferguson, 62, of Falling Waters, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born May 9, 1937, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mildred Arminger Grintz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Earl Ferguson.
She is survived by two sons, David John Burns of Irmo, S.C. and Patrick J. Burns of Berkeley County, W.Va.; three sisters, Geraldine Bayer and Mildred Noukowski, both of Baltimore, and Mary Slater of Florida; a brother, Phillip Grintz of Baltimore; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Burns; a sister, Juanita Cressweld; and two brothers, William Myers and Clayton Myers.
Graveside services will be Friday at Green Hill cemetery.

Roy F. Elliott
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Roy Franklin Elliott, 68, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Born June 14, 1931, in Charles Town, W.Va., he was the son of the late Amiel Ray Sr. and Carrie Elizabeth Chapman Elliott.
He worked for Salvage and Ward Farms on dairy and beef farms.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Korean Service Medal, among others.
He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl R. Elliott of Martinsburg; a daughter, Delores Rudy of Martinsburg; three sons, Robert Lee Elliott, Ray Eugene Elliott and Dennis Wayne Elliott, all of Martinsburg; five sisters, Elenor Stoneburner and Christine Brooks, both of Charles Town, Marie King of Appomatox, Va., Blanche Rebecca Wendlum of Martinsburg and Joyce Ann Elliott of Kearneysville, W.Va.; three brothers, Charles Ray Elliott of Kearneysville, William Lawrence Elliott of Charles Town and Amiel Ray Elliott Jr. of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel. The Revs. Marcus Caton, Lester Hess and Johnny Gladden will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
David J. Spielman
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - David John "Crockett" Spielman, 63, of Berkeley Springs, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.
Born Aug. 16, 1936, in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late Ardell William and Eunice Llewellyn Porter Spielman.
He attended the Highland School and Berkeley Springs High School, both in Berkeley Springs.
He retired in 1986 after 30 years as a communications clerk with Western Union; and was a member of Western Union Retirees Association.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of AARP.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patsy Ann Merica Spielman, at home; one daughter, Karleen Yvonne Spielman of Hanover, Pa.; two sisters, Lila Mae Spielman and Edith E. Hovermale, both of Berkeley Springs; one brother, Wayne E. Spielman of Berkeley Springs; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Ann Spielman; and three brothers, William A. Spielman, Donald P. Spielman and Richard P. Spielman.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. G. Edward Grove will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel cemetery, U.S. 522 South, Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 11 a.m.
